Sub-bundles of the complexified tangent bundle

We study embeddings of complex vector bundles, especially line bundles, in the complexification of the tangent bundle of a manifold. The aim is to understand implications of properties of interest in partial differential equations.

On characterization of Poisson and Jacobi structures

We characterize Poisson and Jacobi structures by means of complete lifts of the corresponding tensors: the lifts have to be related to canonical structures by morphisms of corresponding vector bundles. Similar results hold for generalized Poisson and Jacobi structures (canonical structures) associated with Lie algebroids and Jacobi algebroids.     

Conditional expectation of integrands and random sets

The conditional expectation of integrands and random sets is the main tool of stochastic optimization. This work wishes to make up for the lack of real synthesis about this subject. We improve the existing hypothesis and simplify the corresponding proofs. In the convex case we especially study the problem of the exchange of conditional expectation and subdifferential operators.     

A study of type I intermittency of a circular differential equation under a discontinuous right-hand side

In this paper we study a circular differential equation under a discontinuous periodic input, developing a quadratic differential equations system on S¹ and a linear differential equations system in the Minkowski space M³. The symmetry groups of these two systems are, respectively, PSOo(2,1) and SOo(2,1). The Poincaré circle map is constructed exactly, and a critical value αc of the parameter is identified. Depending on α of the input amplitude the equation may exhibit periodic, subharmonic or quasiperiodic motions. When α varies from α>αc to α<αc, there undergoes an inverse tangent bifurcation; consequently, the resultant Poincaré circle map offers one route to the quasiperiodicity via a type I intermittency. In the parameter range of α<αc the orbit generated by the Poincaré circle map is either m-periodic or quasiperiodic when n/m is a rational or an irrational number.     

A note on the complex semi‐definite matrix Procrustes problem

This note outlines an algorithm for solving the complex ‘matrix Procrustes problem’. This is a least‐squares approximation over the cone of positive semi‐definite Hermitian matrices, which has a number of applications in the areas of Optimization, Signal Processing and Control. The work generalizes the method of Allwright (SIAM J. Control Optim. 1988; 26 (3):537–556), who obtained a numerical solution to the real‐valued version of the problem. It is shown that, subject to an appropriate rank assumption, the complex problem can be formulated in a real setting using a matrix‐dilation technique, for which the method of Allwright is applicable. However, this transformation results in an over‐parametrization of the problem and, therefore, convergence to the optimal solution is slow. Here, an alternative algorithm is developed for solving the complex problem, which exploits fully the special structure of the dilated matrix. The advantages of the modified algorithm are demonstrated via a numerical example. Copyright © 2007 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

集值优化问题强有效解的Kuhn Tucker最优性条件

在局部凸空间中考虑集值优化问题（VP）在强有效解意义下的Kuhn-Tucker最优性条件．在近似锥．次类凸假设下利用择一性定理得到了（VP）取得强有效解的必要条件，利用基泛函的性质给出了（VP）取得强有效解的充分条件，最后给出了一种与（VP）等价的无约束规划。     

Dielectric properties of KDP-type ferroelectric crystals in the presence of external electric field

Considering external electric field as well as third- and fourth-order phonon anharmonic interaction terms in the pseudospin-lattice coupled mode (PLCM) model Hamiltonian for KDP-type ferroelectrics, expressions for field-dependent shift, width, renormalized soft mode frequency, Curie temperature, dielectric constant and dielectric loss are evaluated. For the calculation, method of statistical double-time temperature-dependent Green’s function has been used. By fitting model values of physical quantities, temperature and electric field dependences of soft mode frequency, dielectric constant and loss have been calculated which compare well with experimental results of Baumgartner [8] and Choi and Lockwood [9]. Both dielectric constant and loss decrease with electric field.
