Latent damage tracks of energetic40Ar ions (18·56 MeV/u) have been recorded in Lexan polycarbonate detector. Bulk and track-etch parameters are evaluated under successive chemical etching. Our results show a linear correlation between the measured track-etch rate along the track and the corresponding total energy-loss rate and predict a threshold value of 5·0 MeV mg−1 cm2 for track registration. Maximum etchable track lengths of40Ar ions as a function of energies have also been measured and compared with three different sets of theoretical ranges.  相似文献

The cooling of the metal cluster Pd13 in an atmosphere of rare gas has been studied by means of computer simulation. By simulation, the average energy transfer in collisions between one cluster and one gas atom has been obtained. Emphasis has been placed on conditions when the temperatures of the colliding species are almost equal. All modes of motion, inclusive the translation, must be considered in order to obtain vanishing energy transfer at equilibrium. A simulation scheme is presented by which the energy transfer is zero to the cluster when the gas and the cluster temperatures are equal. At equilibrium the energy transfer does however not vanish for all impact parameters. In the collisions with Pd13, the cluster is heated by collisions with a small impact parameter but equally cooled by collisions with a large impact parameter. Argon and krypton are found to cool Pd13 equally efficiently while neon and helium are less efficient cooling agents. We consider interaction of a single level with a broad, tending to semi-infinite continuum. In an example of two exactly solvable problems, we show that for time dependent quantum systems the probability of the irreversible transition from a discrete level to a continuum is strongly inhibited or even completely suppressed by the presence of a discrete adiabatic level near the continuum edge. If X is a Hausdorff space we construct a 2-groupoid G 2 X with the following properties. The underlying category of G 2 X is the `path groupoid" of X whose objects are the points of X and whose morphisms are equivalence classes f, g of paths f, g in X under a relation of thin relative homotopy. The groupoid of 2-morphisms of G 2 X is a quotient groupoid X / N X, where X is the groupoid whose objects are paths and whose morphisms are relative homotopy classes of homotopies between paths. N X is a normal subgroupoid of X determined by the thin relative homotopies. There is an isomorphism G 2 X(f,f) 2(X, f(0)) between the 2-endomorphism group of f and the second homotopy group of X based at the initial point of the path f. The 2-groupoids of function spaces yield a 2-groupoid enrichment of a (convenient) category of pointed spaces.We show how the 2-morphisms may be regarded as 2-tracks. We make precise how cubical diagrams inhabited by 2-tracks can be pasted.  相似文献

The Classical Trajectory Monte Carlo (CTMC) Method has been used to calculate the differential, partial and total single electron capture cross sections for the collision of H+/D+ with Ca and Mg atoms in the energy range of 1–100 keV. The differential cross sections at angles near the diffraction limit (<0.1) in both systems show a forward peak followed by an asymptotic fall at higher angles. Total and partial capture cross sections are found to be in good agreement with the experimental observations. Oscillations in the partial capture cross sections have been explained due to the swapping of the field electron. Isotope effect in the electron transfer is reported to be negligible.  相似文献

A promising means to reduce the component of railway rolling noise radiated by the track is to increase the damping of the rail. This increases the attenuation with distance of vibrations transmitted along the rail and thereby reduces the noise radiated. To achieve this, a tuned, damped mass-spring absorber system has been designed. To cover a wide range of frequencies, multiple tuning frequencies are used along with a material with a high damping loss factor. Suitable materials have been found from extensive tests on samples and prototypes of the damper have been built and tested, both in the laboratory and in the field. Results are very promising with reductions of the track component of noise of around 6 dB being measured.  相似文献

The response of CR-39 detector has been obtained precisely for protons, deuterons, tritons, alpha-particles and lithiumions with energies of a few MeV/nucleon. The track etch rates were determined from the growth curves of pit radius and summarized as the response functions. The accuracy of this method is high enough to discriminate among hydrogen isotopes under a certain condition. The correlation between the response and LET with various cut-off energies has also been examined. It was found that LET is not an unique parameter describing the response function adequately for different ions by the same expression.  相似文献

We introduce the notion of n-fold track extensions of a category C by a natural system D and prove that such extensions represent classes in the cohomology of C with coefficients in D introduced by Baues–Wirsching. This generalizes a result of Huebschmann on the cohomology of groups.  相似文献
