A finite difference/boundary integral procedure to determine the acoustic reflected pressure from a fluid-loaded bi-laminated
plate is described. The bi-laminate is composed of a piezoelectric layer and an elastic layer in contact with the fluid, and
is held by an acoustically hard baffle. In the numerical model, the fluid pressure at fluid/solid interface is replaced by
a continuum of point sources weighted by the normal acceleration of the elastic plate, and the governing equation system is
solved in the solid domain. With the normal acceleration found, the reflected pressure in the fluid is determined by an integral
expression involving the Green's function. It is demonstrated that an appropriate applied voltage potential across the piezoelectric
layer has the effect of cancelling either the reflected or scattered pressure of the plate at any chosen field points in the
fluid.

We present susceptibility, microwave resistivity, NMR and heat-capacity results for Li1-xZnx(V1-yTiy)2O4 with 0 ?

? 0.3. For all doping levels the susceptibility curves can be fitted with a Curie-Weiss law. The paramagnetic Curie-Weiss temperatures
remain negative with an average value close to that of the pure compound Θ≈ - 36 K. Spin-glass anomalies are observed in the susceptibility, heat-capacity and NMR measurements for both type of dopants.
From the temperature dependence of the spin-lattice relaxation rate we found critical-dynamic behavior in the Zn doped compounds
at the freezing temperatures. For the Ti-doped samples two successive freezing transitions into disordered low-temperature
states can be detected. The temperature dependence of the heat capacity for Zn-doped compounds does not resemble that of canonical
spin glasses and only a small fraction of the total vanadium entropy is frozen at the spin-glass transitions. For pure LiV2O4 the spin-glass transition is completely suppressed. The temperature dependence of the heat capacity for LiV2O4 can be described using a nuclear Schottky contribution and the non-Fermi liquid model, appropriate for a system close to
a spin-glass quantum critical point. Finally an (

During the course of our investigation of the electron transfer properties of some redox species through highly hydrophobic
long chain alkanethiol molecules on gold in aqueous and non-aqueous solvents, we obtained some intriguing results such as
unusually low interfacial capacitance, very high values of impedance and film resistance, all of which pointed to the possible
existence of a nanometer size interfacial gap between the hydrophobic monolayer and aqueous electrolyte. We explain this phenomenon
by a model for the alkanethiol monolayer—aqueous electrolyte interface, in which the extremely hydrophobic alkanethiol film
repels water molecules adjacent to it and in the process creates a shield between the monolayer film and water. This effectively
increases the overall thickness of the dielectric layer that is manifested as an abnormally low value of interfacial capacitance.
This behaviour is very much akin to the ‘drying transition’ proposed by Lum, Chandler and Weeks in their theory of length
scale dependent hydrophobicity. For small hydrophobic units consisting of apolar solutes, the water molecules can reorganize
around them without sacrificing their hydrogen bonds. Since for an extended hydrophobic unit, the existence of hydrogen bonded
water structure close to it is geometrically unfavourable, there is a net depletion of water molecules in the vicinity leading
to the possible creation of a hydrophobic interfacial gap. 相似文献

We establish the existence and stability of multidimensional transonic shocks for the Euler equations for steady potential compressible fluids. The Euler equations, consisting of the conservation law of mass and the Bernoulli law for the velocity, can be written as a second-order, nonlinear equation of mixed elliptic-hyperbolic type for the velocity potential. The transonic shock problem can be formulated into the following free boundary problem: The free boundary is the location of the transonic shock which divides the two regions of smooth flow, and the equation is hyperbolic in the upstream region where the smooth perturbed flow is supersonic. We develop a nonlinear approach to deal with such a free boundary problem in order to solve the transonic shock problem. Our results indicate that there exists a unique solution of the free boundary problem such that the equation is always elliptic in the downstream region and the free boundary is smooth, provided that the hyperbolic phase is close to a uniform flow. We prove that the free boundary is stable under the steady perturbation of the hyperbolic phase. We also establish the existence and stability of multidimensional transonic shocks near spherical or circular transonic shocks.

The five relative equilibria of the three-body problem give rise to solutions where the bodies rotate rigidly around their center of mass. For these solutions, the moment of inertia of the bodies with respect to the center of mass is clearly constant. Saari conjectured that these rigid motions are the only solutions with constant moment of inertia. This result will be proved here for the planar problem with three nonzero masses with the help of some computational algebra and geometry.

This paper describes a compulsorily phase locked differential interferometer using an orthogonally polarized light source of a modulated LD with high extinction ratio to reduce non-linearity of the interferometer caused by polarization cross-talk. The current modulated LD is used as a light source to make the interferometer compact and for the scanning phase of the interferometer. The interferometer is operated compulsorily at the maximum inclination point of the fringe intensity curve by fringe scanning and an electric system. A Wollaston prism of high extinction ratio (50 dB) is used to combine the polarizing beams and to make the polarization cross-talk very small. In one light source the polarized output beams are on the same propagation axis; in the other they have a small crossing angle (2.5 mrad ∼ 10 mrad) to completely exclude non-linearity of the interferometer causded by polarization cross-talk. Using jets of a gas mixture of nitrogen and ethylene, this interferometer was demonstrated to be useful in detecting the photothermal effect of a photothermal velocimeter under phase fluctuation in a turbulent flow. 相似文献
