Overview: The Potential of silanes for chromate replacement in metal finishing industries

Trialkoxysilanes (or silanes) have emerged as a very promising alternative for chromates in metal finishing industries. Compared to the conventional chromating processes, the major merits of silane-based surface treatments include: eco-compliance, easy-control processing, comparable corrosion protection of metals as well as paint adhesion to a variety of topcoats. In this overview paper, we report the recent status of silane studies including results of corrosion performance tests, the mechanism of corrosion protection of metals by silanes and the themal stabilities of silane films. We also address the new fields that we are beginning to explore such as nano-structured silane films, “self-healing” silane films, and “super-primers”.     

Development and application of high strength ternary boride base cermets

Reaction boronizing sintering is a novel strategy to form a ternary boride coexisting with a metal matrix in a cermet during liquid phase sintering. This new sintering technique has successfully developed world first ternary boride base cermets with excellent mechanical properties such as Mo₂FeB₂, Mo₂NiB₂ and WCoB base ones.In these cermets Mo₂FeB₂ and Mo₂NiB₂ base ones consist of a tetragonal M₃B₂ (M: metal)-type complex boride as a hard phase and a transition metal base matrix. The cermets have already been applied to wear resistant applications such as injection molding machine parts, can making tools, and hot copper extruding dies, etc.This paper focuses on the characteristics, effects of the additional elements on the mechanical properties and structure, and practical applications of the ternary boride base cermets.     

A supported gold catalyst for the elimination of hydrogen from CO2 feed gas in the production of urea

Supported gold catalyst for eliminating hydrogen from CO₂ feed gas in the production of urea is found to be superior to other industrial catalysts (e.g. Pt/Al₂O₃ and PdPt/Al₂O₃) in catalytic activity and resistance to sulfur poisoning.

斑图是在空间或时间上具有某种规律性的非均匀宏观结构,普遍存在于自然界,事实上大多数电化学体系在适当参数范围内也可以形成各种电化学斑图。本文介绍了电化学斑图中空间耦合的三种方式,重点总结了在不同机理作用下可能出现的斑图种类,并简述了电化学斑图模拟方面的发展。     

SYNTHESIS AND PHOTOCHROMISM OF ACRYLIC ESTER COPOLYMERS BEARING PENDANT VIOLOGEN GROUPS

A series of acrylic ester copolymers with viologen group as pendant were synthesizedthrough the reaction of MMA-EBA (Ethenyl bromoacetate) copolymer with 4-(4'-pyridyl)-N-alkyl (or arylalkyl) pyridiniums. These viologen copolymers can exchange their anionwith NH_4PF_6 in methanol to improve their solubility in organic solvents such as DMFand acetone. Compared with the corresponding low molecular viologens, these viologencopolymers have relatively lower color development rate under UV light and fade fasterin air due to less affinity to photo-reductant and deficiency of association between theircation radicals. Their photofatigue resistant ability is also slightly better than that of lowmolecular vinlogens.     

A scratch-resistant single-layer antireflective coating by a low temperature sol-gel route

A novel quarterwave-thick narrow-bandwidth antireflective coating has been developed for both plastic and vitreous substrates by a sol-gel route. This coating has revealed pronounced scratch- and climatic-resistance under adverse conditions. The single-layer coating consists basically of a composite material made of silica as the discontinuous phase and of a polytetrafluoroethylene-derived (Teflon¹) organic polymer as the continuous phase. This leads to fluorine-containing colloidal silica product, or a so-called Flucosil coating. The coating is applied by spinning or dipping from specific solutions at room temperature followed by a mild and short heat treatment. In addition to remarkable abrasion and environmental resistance properties, such coatings have displayed excellent laser-induced damage threshold levels, surpassing uncoated substrates.We hope such a product might open new perspectives concerning household articles, architectural optical thin-films, ophthalmic uses, and so on.     

Toward breast cancer resistance protein (BCRP) inhibitors: design, synthesis of a series of new simplified fumitremorgin C analogues

In this study, we report the design and synthesis of a series of new simplified fumitremorgin C analogues. The preliminary biological study indicated some of these simplified fumitremorgin C might be developed into breast cancer resistance inhibitors.     

丹麦生物质发电的现状和研究发展趋势

丹麦是世界上利用秸秆生物质燃烧发电技术开发、运行最好的国家，其经验值得中国借鉴。根据作者在丹麦对生物质燃烧发电的研究经历，系统地介绍了丹麦在秸秆生物质发电的经验、遇到的问题及相应的研究和今后的发展方向。     

化学复合镀Ni-P-PTFE镀层的组成分析

代铬刷镀层的耐腐蚀机理的考察

对新型的代铬刷镀层Ni-Fe-W-P-S进行了耐腐蚀性能机理的分析研究。用扫描电镜(SEM)、透射电镜(TEM)、扫描隧道显微镜(STM)、X射线衍射及电子能谱(XPS)等的分析表明，基体组织为非品结构是代铬刷镀层优异耐腐蚀性的主要原因.
