Characteristics of fibril reinforced membranes developed by Asahi Glass Company are reviewed. PTFE-fibrils <1 μm in diameter are dispersed in ion-exchange membranes uniformly. Mechanical properties, such as tensile strength, tear strength, creep property and compressive property were examined and compared with non-reinforced membranes. Fibril reinforced membranes, even by the addition of a small amount of PTFE-fibrils (2.7 wt.%), show excellent mechanical strength, especially in creep and tear strength. Cell performance is nearly equal to the one using a non-reinforced membrane and cell voltage stays about the same during the cell operation at 80 °C for 3000 h. 相似文献

The way to measure quantitatively full dissolution and crystallization of polyamides in water up to 200 °C and above by DSC is described. Stainless-steel high-pressure pans enable research on fully dissolving polyamides in water under vapor pressure. The results show clearly that polyamide 6 (PA6) is soluble in water under vapor pressure in the whole concentration range and that water acts as a crystallization and melting point suppressor. The maximum temperature depression is approximately 60 °C. This depression of the transitions is independent of concentration over a large range (10-70 mass% PA6 in water). When PA6 dissolves in water during heating, the polymer often sets to the sides of the DSC sample pan. Because of this the contact between the sample and the bottom of the pan reduces during measurement and therefore DSC heating curves are frequently curved. Adding steel wool to these stainless-steel high-pressure pans improves the measurements by increasing the thermal conductivity between the sample and pan bottom, and as a result the DSC curves become less curved. The interpretation of the measurements improves and the possibility of reproducible peak area calculations also in heating comes in sight. 相似文献

Summary The efficiency of packed columns was measured as a function of flow rate, temperature, outlet density, and the density differential across the column, unsing pure carbon dioxide as the mobile phase. Although density differentials are often blamed for a serious loss in efficiency in packed column supercritical fluid chromatography, the results show that efficiency was not a function of the density differential. Multigram quantities (2.5-10 g) of highly purified IgG were obtained within 4 h from serum by using Avid AL packed in a radial-flow column. Avid AL is an affinity gel containing a synthetic, low-mol-wt ligand capable of selectively binding IgG from serum of all animal species tested. By packing the gel in a radial-flow column up to 500 mL, a high flow rate of 50 mL/min can be achieved without adversely affecting the performance of the gel and the purity of the isolated antibody. 相似文献

For clinical and environmental analyses utilizing capillary gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS), increased sensitivity and speed of analysis are highly desirable. These performance advantages are realized using a WCOT column of 100 μm i.d. as compared to the more conventional 200 μm i.d. capillary columns. The improved sensitivity of capillary direct GC/MS with the 100 μm i.d. column for the confirmation of drugs of abuse will be demonstrated. For environmental analysis, the superior efficiency and resolution of the 100 μm i.d. column can be employed for the separation of priority pollutants. This approach is more amenable to capillary direct GC/MS providing a more effective interface to the mass spectrometer. As a result improved sensitivity and a considerable decrease in analysis time is achieved over that obtained with the larger diameter environmental specialty phase columns. 相似文献
