Asymptotic Distribution of Nodes for Near-Optimal Polynomial Interpolation on Certain Curves in R 2

Let E\subset \Bbb R ^s be compact and let d _n ^E denote the dimension of the space of polynomials of degree at most n in s variables restricted to E . We introduce the notion of an asymptotic interpolation measure (AIM). Such a measure, if it exists , describes the asymptotic behavior of any scheme τ _n ={ \bf x _k,n } _k=1 ^dnE , n=1,2,\ldots , of nodes for multivariate polynomial interpolation for which the norms of the corresponding interpolation operators do not grow geometrically large with n . We demonstrate the existence of AIMs for the finite union of compact subsets of certain algebraic curves in R ² . It turns out that the theory of logarithmic potentials with external fields plays a useful role in the investigation. Furthermore, for the sets mentioned above, we give a computationally simple construction for ``good' interpolation schemes. November 9, 2000. Date revised: August 4, 2001. About the Linear Stability of the Spherically Symmetric Solution for the Equations of a Barotropic Viscous Fluid under the Influence of Self-Gravitation

This paper is concerned with the question of linear stability of motionless, spherically symmetric equilibrium states of viscous, barotropic, self-gravitating fluids. We prove the linear asymptotic stability of such equilibria with respect to perturbations which leave the angular momentum, momentum, mass and the position of the center of gravity unchanged. We also give some decay estimates for such perturbations, which we derive from resolvent estimates by means of analytic semigroup theory.     

A large deviation principle for 2D stochastic Navier–Stokes equation

In this paper one specifies the ergodic behavior of the 2D-stochastic Navier–Stokes equation by giving a Large Deviation Principle for the occupation measure for large time. It describes the exact rate of exponential convergence. The considered random force is non-degenerate and compatible with the strong Feller property.     

单谐振腔外部Q值的计算方法

 通过对带有耦合器的单驻波腔进行等效电路分析，推导出可计算带有耦合波导的单谐振腔外部Q值的反射相位法，该方法通过计算不同频率的反射相位来确定谐振频率和外部Q值。详细叙述了在CST Microwave Studio中用谐振模式求解法、直接时域跟踪法和反射相位法进行计算的步骤；用这3种方法分别计算了二次发射微波电子枪的外部Q值并和实验测量结果做了比较。结果显示3种计算方法都有很高的精度,但反射相位法的速度最快，耗时1 071 s。计算发现外部Q值与耦合口长度的4.1次方成反比。     

Deciding Frattini is NP-complete

We show that it is a NP-complete problem to decide whether a finite poset arises as the (Birkhoff) dual of the Frattini sublattice of some finite distributive lattice.This work was supported in part by Swiss NSF grant 20-32644.91.     

A topological aspect of Sobolev mappings

Let be a connected open set, . We give a sufficient condition for a mapping , , to have the property that sgn is almost everywhere of one sign. Following the work of Müller, Spector, and Tang [MST], we give an application of our results to the theory of non-linear elasticity. An analytical proof of Hardy-like inequalities related to the Dirac operator

We prove some sharp Hardy-type inequalities related to the Dirac operator by elementary, direct methods. Some of these inequalities have been obtained previously using spectral information about the Dirac-Coulomb operator. Our results are stated under optimal conditions on the asymptotics of the potentials near zero and near infinity.     

An estimation of the measurement uncertainty for an optical emission spectrometric method

 A validation procedure based on the ISO/IEC 17025 standard was used to demonstrate the long-term stability of a calibration process and to assess the measurement uncertainty of a standard test method for optical emission vacuum spectrometric analysis of carbon and low-alloy steel (ASTM E 415–99a). The validation was used to provide documented evidence that the selected method fulfils the requirements and that the method is ”fit for purpose”. A test for drift was applied to determine statistically whether the analytical results vary systematically with time. The accuracy and traceability of the optimised method were tested by an analysis of closely matched matrix certified reference materials (CRMs). The measurement uncertainty estimations took account of the precision study, the bias and its uncertainty, and the qualification of uncertainties not considered in the overall performance studies.
