In this work, forced convective heat transfer of nanofluid in the developing laminar flow (entrance region) in a circular tube is considered. The nanofluid thermal conductivity, as an important parameter, is considered as two parts: static and dynamic part. Simulated results show that the dynamic part of nanofluid thermal conductivity due to the Brownian motion has a minor effect on the heat transfer coefficients, on the other hand, static part of thermal conductivity including nanolayer around nanoparticle has an important role in heat transfer.  相似文献

We lay out a program for constructing discontinuous Petrov–Galerkin (DPG) schemes having test function spaces that are automatically computable to guarantee stability. Given a trial space, a DPG discretization using its optimal test space counterpart inherits stability from the well posedness of the undiscretized problem. Although the question of stable test space choice had attracted the attention of many previous authors, the novelty in our approach lies in the fact we identify a discontinuous Galerkin (DG) framework wherein test functions, arbitrarily close to the optimal ones, can be locally computed. A numerical study of solidification of gallium in a closed cavity is presented and the influence of natural convection on phase change is investigated.

The mathematical formulation is based on the enthalpy-porosity method, while the equations are discretized on a fixed grid by means of a finite volume technique. Advancing in time is obtained using the SIMPLE algorithm, while the solution of the elliptic equation for pressure correction is obtained by means of a preconditioned BI-CGStab method.

As a test case a square cavity with Ra ranging from 4.68 × 103 to 9.36 × 105 is adopted. Results will be presented in terms of streamlines, isotherms, solid-liquid interface position and Nu and compared, when possible with available data.  相似文献

Almost all evaluations of convection schemes reported in the literature are conducted using simple problems on uniform orthogonal grids; thus, having limited contribution when solving industrial computational fluid dynamics (CFD), where the grids are usually non‐orthogonal with distortions. Herein, several convection schemes are assessed in uniform and distorted non‐orthogonal grids with emphasis on industrial applications. Linear and nonlinear (TVD) convection schemes are assessed on analytical benchmarks in both uniform and distorted grids. To evaluate the performance of the schemes, four error metrics are used: dissipation, phase and L1 errors, and the schemes' effective order of accuracy. Qualitative and quantitative deterioration of these error metrics as a function of the grid distortion metrics are investigated, and rigorous verifications are performed. Recommendations for effective use of the convection schemes based on the range of grid aspect ratio (AR), expansion ratio (ER) and skewness (Q) are included. A ship hydrodynamics case is studied, involving a Reynolds averaged Navier–Stokes simulation of a bare‐hull KVLCC2 tanker using linear and nonlinear convection schemes coupled with isotropic and anisotropic Reynolds‐stress (ARS) turbulence models using CFDShip‐Iowa v4. Predictions of local velocities and turbulent quantities from the midships to the nominal wake plane are compared with experimental fluid dynamics (EFD), and rigorous verification and validation analyses for integral forces and moments are performed for 0° and 12° drift angles. Best predictions are observed when coupling a second‐order TVD scheme with the anisotropic turbulence model. Further improvements are observed in terms of prediction of the vortical structures for 30° drift when using TVD2S‐ARS coupled with DES. Copyright © 2009 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Mechanisms responsible for the overlimiting ion transfer in membranes systems are discussed. The overlimiting transfer is shown to be due largely to the action of four effects coupled with the concentration polarization of the system. Two of these are connected with the water dissociation near the membrane/solution interface: the emergence of additional charge carriers (ions H+ or OH?) in the depleted solution layer and the exaltation of transfer of salt counterions. The latter effect is connected with the perturbation of electric field caused by the water dissociation products. The other two effects are two versions of coupled convection, which leads to partial destruction of the depleted diffusion layer. These include gravitational convection and electroconvection. The former is caused by the emergence of the solution’s density gradient. The latter develops via a mechanism of electroosmotic slip. In this work, methods of voltammetry and chronopotentiometry and pH measurements are used to study the transfer of ions through homogeneous membranes Nafion-117 and AMX as a function of the concentration of sodium chloride solutions in the underlimiting and overlimiting current regimes. In a 0.1 M NaCl solution, gravitational convection makes a considerable contribution to the transfer of salt ions near the membrane surface in intensive current regimes. The influence of this effect on the electrochemical behavior of membrane systems weakens with the solution dilution and with increasing relative transfer of the H+ and OH? ions that are generated at the membrane/solution interface. In conditions where gravitational convection is suppressed and the water dissociation near the membrane/solution interface is not great, the major contribution to the overlimiting growth of current is made by electroconvection. Topics for discussion in the paper include the mutual influence of effects on one another, in particular, the effect the rate of generation of the H+ and OH? ions exerts on the gravitational convection and electroconvection and the reasons for the different behavior of cation-and anion-exchange membranes in intensive current regimes.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the effect of numerical integration applied to the discontinuous Galerkin finite element discretization of nonlinear convection‐diffusion problems in 2D. In the space semidiscretization the volume and line integrals are evaluated by numerical quadratures. Our goal is to estimate the error caused by the numerical integration and to show what numerical quadratures guarantee that the accuracy of the method with exact integration is preserved. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The line-integrated optical measurement of impurity radiation profiles for the study of light impurity transport is performed in the HT-7 tokamak. The carbon impurity line emissivity is obtained by Abel inversion. The radial transport behaviours of carbon impurities at different central line averaged electron densities ne are investigated in ohmic discharges. The diffusion coefficient Dk(r), the convection velocity Wk(r) and the total flux of the impurity ions Fk decrease with the increase of ne, which shows a reduction in the impurity particle transport at higher electron densities.  相似文献
