We study the Boltzmann-Grad limit in various versions of the two-dimensional HPP cellular automaton. In the completely deterministic case we prove convergence to an evolution that is not of kinetic type, a well-known phenomenon after Uchyiama's paper on the Broadwell gas, whereas the limiting equation becomes of kinetic type in the model with random collisions. The main part of the paper concerns the case where the collisions are deterministic and the randomness comes from inserting, between any two successive HPP updatings, - stirring updatings, <1 being any fixed positive number and a parameter which tends to 0. The initial measure is a product measure with average occupation numbers of the order of (low-density limit) and varying on distances of the order of –1. The limit as 0 of the system evolved for times of the order of -1- corresponds to the Boltzmann-Grad limit. We prove propagation of chaos and that the renormalized average occupation numbers (i.e., divided by) converge to the solution of the Broadwell equation. Convergence is proven at all times for which the solution of the Broadwell equation is bounded.  相似文献

Classic snap-through of curved beams, plates, and shells has long been an object of attention in structural engineering. Euler buckling under axial loading is perhaps an even more entrenched part of the canon of engineering education and practice. In this paper we introduce a relationship between the two phenomena, that to our knowledge has not been directly addressed before. The relationship shows that Euler buckling configurations are connected by the force–displacement curve under transverse loading. The results are used to develop a very simple metric to estimate the number of unstable static equilibria of a buckled structure based only on its geometry with no need for static or dynamic solvers. The study is focused on beams as this allows for an unambiguous discussion of the idea on the simplest possible structure.  相似文献

Based on the classical Nagel–Schreckenberg model, we in this paper propose an improved cellular automaton (CA) model to study the influences of a multi-point tollbooth on traffic flow. The numerical results show that the multi-point tollbooth can be looked at as a bottleneck and that it can improve the road capacity compared with other tolling stations, which shows that the proposed model is more effective than other traffic flow models. In addition, the results can help readers to better understand the effects of a multi-point tollbooth on traffic flow and help traffic engineers to reasonably design the tolling station.  相似文献

CdTe@CdS quantum dots, cationic polyelectrolyte poly-diallyldimethylammonium chloride, and anionic polyelectrolyte polyacrylic acid were assembled on the surface of silica nanoparticles based on the electrostatic layer-by-layer self-assembly to prepare fluorescent composite nanoparticles. Transmission electron microscopy showed that the particles had a uniform size distribution (approximately 70 nm) and good monodispersity. The fluorescence shielding effect of the silica shell was reduced and the assembled quantum dots were well protected by the sandwich structure. The nanoparticles provided strong fluorescence, high stability for storage, and low photobleaching and leakage. Furthermore, they possessed high fluorescence stability and high-concentration staining for cytoplasm, which enabled them to be used for sensitive cellular imaging analysis. Because of the presence of numerous carboxyl groups, they have potential application for biolabeling and bioanalysis.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the exponential stability analysis for a class of cellular neural networks with both interval time-varying delays and general activation functions. The boundedness assumption of the activation function is not required. The limitation on the derivative of time delay being less than one is relaxed and the lower bound of time-varying delay is not restricted to be zero. A new Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional involving more information on the state variables is established to derive a novel exponential stability criterion. The obtained condition shows potential advantages over the existing ones since no useful item is ignored throughout the estimate of upper bound of the derivative of Lyapunov functional. Finally, three numerical examples are included to illustrate the proposed design procedures and applications.  相似文献

The growth of carbon onions is simulated using continuum mechanical shell models. With this models it is shown that, if a carbon onion has grown to a critical size, the formation of an additional layer leads to the occurrence of a structural instability. This instability inhibits further growth of carbon onions and, thus, can be a reason for the limited size of such particles. The loss of stability is mainly evoked by van der Waals interactions between misfitting neighboring layers leading to self-equilibrating stress states in the layers due to mutual accommodation. The influence of the curvature induced surface energy and its consequential stress state is investigated and found to be rather negligible. Furthermore, it is shown that the nonlinear character of the van der Waals interactions has to be considered to obtain maximum layer numbers comparable to experimental observations. The proposed model gives insight into mechanisms which are assumed to limit the size of carbon onions and can serve as basis for further investigations, e.g., of the formation of nanodiamonds in the center of carbon onions.  相似文献

We determine the asymptotic behavior of the survival probability, P(Tt)Ct?12 for an explicit constant C. Our analysis is based on a connection between the survival probability and the running maximum of the time-reversed process, and relies on a functional central limit theorem for Markov chains. As applications, we recover known clustering results for the 3-color cyclic cellular automaton and the Greenberg–Hastings model, and we prove a new clustering result for the 3-color firefly cellular automaton.  相似文献

The optimal information feedback has a significant effect on many socioeconomic systems like stock market and traffic systems aiming to make full use of resources. In this Letter, we study dynamics of traffic flow with real-time information. The influence of a feedback strategy named Corresponding Angle Feedback Strategy (CAFS) is introduced, based on a two-route scenario in which dynamic information can be generated and displayed on the board to guide road users to make a choice. Our model incorporates the effects of adaptability into the cellular automaton models of traffic flow and simulation results adopting this optimal information feedback strategy have demonstrated high efficiency in controlling spatial distribution of traffic patterns compared with the other three information feedback strategies, i.e., vehicle number and flux.  相似文献

Abstract

The evolution of a biological system, like a cellular one, is analyzed by constructing a Markov process on a suitable state space. This is performed by the introduction of an infinitesimal generator for the Markov semigroup associated to this process. A measure valued process is then defined in a natural way and it is proved that his first moment satisfies the Sharpe–Lotka system in a distributional sense. Hence the study of the moments of the process is tried. An involved integral equation for the moment generating functional is derived.  相似文献
