Synthesis and Crystal Structure of a Coordination Polymer {[Co(phth)(phen)(H2O)]·(C2H5OH)}n

The coordination polymer {[Co(phth)(phen)(H2O)]·(C2H5OH)}n (phth = phthalate, phen = 1,10-phenanthroline) with formula C22H20CoN2O6 (Mr = 467.33) was synthesized by the solvothermal method under low temperature, and its crystal structure was determined by singlecrystal X-ray diffraction. The complex belongs to monoclinic system, space group P21/n with a =12.7352(16), b = 8.8125(11), c = 18.677(2) (A), β = 102.633(2)°, V = 2045.3(4) (A)3, Z = 4, Dc =1.518 g/cm3,μ = 0.882 mm-1, F(000) = 964, S = 1.053, the final R = 0.0401 and wR = 0.0984 for 3135 observed reflections (I ＞ 2σ(I)). Single-crystal X-ray analysis revealed that the Co(Ⅱ) ion is six-coordinated. The cobalt complex forms a one-dimensional chain structure via phthalate bridging ligand. In the cobalt complex, a 3D network structure is formed by π-π stacking interaction of 1,10-phenanthroline as well as intermolecular hydrogen bonding interactions.     

Synthesis and Crystal Structure of a New Mononuclear Nickel(Ⅱ) Mixed Complex Derived from 2-Aminoethyl-bi(3-bi-aminopropyl)amine with 1,10-Phenanthroline

The mixed complex [Ni(L)(L')](ClO4)2 has been synthesized using 2-aminoethyl- bi(3-bi-aminopropyl)amine with phen (1,10-phenanthroline) in the presence of Ni(II) ion, and its structure was determined by X-ray diffraction. The crystal crystallizes in monoclinic, space group P21/c with a = 13.713(2), b = 13.1466(19), c = 14.780(2) (A), β = 97.620(3)°, V = 2640.9(7)(A)3, F(000) = 1272, Z = 4, Dc = 1.540 g/cm3, R = 0.0536 and wR = 0.1207. The Ni2+ ion is six- coordinated to furnish a distorted octahedral geometry.     

Crystallographic report: Bis{[diacetyl‐bis(2,6‐isopropylphenylimine)]nickel(I)(µ‐chloro)}

The first α‐diimine nickel(I) complex having a chloro bridge is reported. The centrosymmetric dinuclear structure of {[ArN?C(Me)C(Me)?NAr]NiCl}₂[Ar?2,6?C₆H₃(i‐Pr)₂] features two chelating α‐diimine ligands and two bridged chlorine atoms, so that a distorted tetrahedral N₂Cl₂ coordination geometry for nickel results. Crystallographic report: catena‐Aqua(2,2′‐bipyrimidine)lithium(I) perchlorate

A lithium(I) coordination polymer has been formed from LiClO₄ and the 2,2′‐bipyrimidine (bpym) ligand in which each square pyramidal lithium(I) atom is coordinated in the basal plane by four nitrogen donor atoms derived from two bpym ligands and one water molecule at the apical position. Mid-infrared generation based on a periodically poled LiNbO3 optical parametric oscillator

We report a nanosecond Nd:YVO_4-pumped optical parametric oscillator (OPO) based on periodically poled LiNbO_3 (PPLN). Tuning is achieved in this experiment by varying the temperature and period of the PPLN. The design of double-pass singly resonant oscillator (DSRO) and confocal cavity enables the OPO threshold to be lowered considerably, resulting in a simple, compact, all-solid-state configuration with the mid-infrared idler powers of up to 466mW at 3.41μm.     

Synthesis of bioactive indolocarbazoles: synthesis, nucleophilic ring-opening and chiral base desymmetrisation of a cyclic sulfate intermediate

A number of new functionalised bridged indolocarbazole systems have been prepared by ring-opening reactions of a key cyclic sulfate intermediate, prepared from the corresponding diol by the action of sulfuryl diimidazole and DBU. The same cyclic sulfate also undergoes an unprecedented asymmetric rearrangement to a chiral ketone, on treatment with a chiral lithium amide base.     

Plasticized microporous poly(vinylidene fluoride) separators for lithium-ion batteries. III. Gel properties and irreversible modifications of poly(vinylidene fluoride) membranes under swelling in liquid electrolytes

Microporous poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVdF) separators for lithium-ion batteries, used in liquid organic electrolytes, have been characterized with respect to the swelling phenomena on dense PVdF membranes (obtained through hot pressing). In the first and second parts of this study, we have described the swelling equilibria and swelling kinetics of dense PVdF. Here the thermal properties of PVdF gels and their irreversible modifications induced by swelling are characterized. Nickel Chloride Promoted Glaser Coupling Reaction in Hot Water

A Glaser coupling reaction of terminal alkynes in the presence of nickel chloride withoutany organics and bases in hot water has been developed, which produces the correspondinghomo-coupling products in good yields.     

Über die Magnetischen Eigenschaften der Cobaltate Na6CoS4, Na6CoSe4 und K6CoS4

Magnetic Properties of the Cobaltates Na₆CoS₄, Na₆CoSe₄, and K₆CoS₄ The alkali metal cobalt chalcogenides Na₆CoS₄, Na₆CoSe₄, and K₆CoS₄ crystallize in the space group P6₃mc with Z = 4. The structure is characterized by isolated [CoX₄]-tetrahedra. The magnetic susceptibilities show Curie-Weiss behaviour. The deviations at low temperatures are caused by antiferromagnetic interactions. The magnetic moments are discussed with regard to ligand-field parameters.     

La5Al3Ni2 – an Intermetallic Phase Observed upon Crystallization of La50Al25Ni25 Metallic Glass

The yet unknown intermetallic phase La₅Al₃Ni₂ was obtained by partially crystallizing amorphous La₅₀Al₂₅Ni₂₅ at 550 K (further heating above 600 K leads to irreversible disappearance of this phase), and its crystal structure was determined from X‐ray powder diffraction data. The crystal structure of the La₅Al₃Ni₂ phase constitutes a new structure type (Cmcm, a = 14.231Å, b = 6.914Å, c = 10.460Å, oC40) and is built from [Al₃Ni₂] chains surrounded by La atoms. In the ternary system La‐Al‐Ni La₅Al₃Ni₂ is located on the section La₅₀Al_50−nNi_n (0 ≤ n ≤ 50) with the binary compounds LaAl and LaNi as end members. Strikingly, also the crystal structures of the end members can be conceived as chain structures with Al and Ni chains surrounded by La, respectively.
