The composition, the thermal properties, and the kinetics of the thermo‐oxidative degradation of high‐density polyethylene (HDPE) were studied as a function of the increasing crystalline fraction, which resulted from the selective extraction of the amorphous part, through digestion by immersion in fuming nitric acid (HNO3) for different periods of time. The chemical and thermodynamic changes in HDPE, brought about by digestion in nitric acid for different periods of time, are discussed. Changes in the chemistry and microstructure of the HDPE, as a function of acid treatment for different periods of time, were studied using infra‐red spectroscopy (FTIR), gel permeation chromatography (GPC), and thermal analysis (DSC and TGA), as well as scanning electron microscopy (SEM). These studies were carried out as a function of the extracted amorphous fraction of HDPE samples via digestion in HNO3. These studies showed that in the first stages of the acid chemical attack, the amorphous part first undergoes a chemical modification and then dissolves into the strong acid medium. The total crystalline fraction apparently decreases during the first stages of the chemical attack and then increases as the amorphous part is extracted. TGA results show that as the selective extraction of the amorphous part occurs, there is a displacement of the thermo‐oxidative degradation toward higher temperatures. The kinetics of the thermo‐oxidative degradation as a function of the extraction of the amorphous part was followed according to the Horowitz‐Metzger method, and it was found that as the concentration of the crystalline fraction increases, the activation energy for the thermo‐oxidative degradation increases. SEM studies show that the extraction of the amorphous part does not affect the size of the crystalline lamellar thickness of HDPE. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The S.M.A.R.T. (small mass, affordable, rapid, transfer-less) digestion method was developed to determine heavy metal concentrations in small sample masses. The S.M.A.R.T. digestion method is a hot water bath digestion where sample digestion and dilution are performed in the original sample tube. This method is faster than the typical methods used and reduces potential sources of error. Masses as small as 0.01 g have been digested and analysed using this method. The preparation and digestion time is reduced from 10 h to less than 4 h. Acid volumes are reduced from millilitres to microlitres and the only disposable supplies needed are sample tubes and pipette tips. Method accuracy was determined by digesting seven replicates of two standard reference materials using the S.M.A.R.T. method and analysing samples by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry. The S.M.A.R.T. digestion method was found to provide excellent recoveries for Al (76 ± 2.7%), Mn (99 ± 11%), Co (92 ± 17%), Ni (93 ± 28%), Cu (109 ± 33%), Zn (97 ± 7.1%), As (108 ± 20%), Sr (90 ± 12%), Mo (84 ± 23%), Ag (91 ± 1.8%), Cd (95 ± 6.2%), Sn (139 ± 52%) and Pb (95 ± 22%). This study has successfully developed an efficient and reproducible digestion method for heavy metal determination in limited biomass samples.  相似文献

When high mineral loads in atmospheric particulate matter (PM) are present, particular attention should be paid to the selection of appropriate acidic digestion protocols for wet chemical analysis. We report on a comparative study of elemental recovery yields from five different pre-analytical acid digestion procedures for mineral-rich urban background PM10 samples collected in the city of Constantine (Northeastern Algeria). Five reference materials (NIST 1633b, UPM 1648, NAT-7, SO-2 and SO-4) were also digested according to the same protocols. The selected acidic digestion/extraction procedures are widely used for PM chemical analysis and comprise P1 (HNO3/HF/HCl), P2 (HCl/HNO3), P3 (HCl/H2O2/HNO3), P4 (HNO3/HF/HClO4) and P5 (HNO3/H2O2); the latter assisted with microwave digestion. Elemental recovery yields were compared for major and trace elements typically determined in PM for source apportionment analysis and the results evidenced large differences. For most elements, the bulk extraction procedures (requiring the use of HF) allowed a full elemental recovery, particularly for elements that are associated with aluminium silicate species and oxides that are resistant to mild acid attack. In contrast, in the extraction protocols without HF low recovery yields were obtained for elements such as Al, Ti, Zr, Sc and other aluminium silicate-related elements in PM10 samples with high mineral dust load. We highlight that the European standard digestion method EN-14902:2005 should be applied specifically for the metals for which this method was developed, but caution should be taken when the analysis of other elements in PM is required, especially in urban areas where road and vehicle wear dust is likely to be a major component of ambient PM. When using wet chemistry analysis for PM source apportionment studies, we strongly recommend HF bulk dissolution of samples to ensure the reliability of the geochemical information when coupled with an appropriate analytical tool.  相似文献

建立了微波消解-石墨炉原子吸收光谱法测定植物染发剂中重金属铅、镉和铜的方法.采用L9(34)正交设计讨论了固液比、消解剂体积比、消解时间和消解压力对样品消解效果的影响,最佳的消解条件:固液比(g/mL)为1∶12,HNO3/H2O2(V/V)为4∶1,消解时间为5min,消解压力1.5MPa.在最佳微波消解条件下,进行了精密度实验、回收率实验,相对标准偏差为1.05%~3.35%,回收率为96.67%~105.43%.微波消解法处理植物染发剂样品,试剂用量少、消解完全、快速、简便,而且测定结果的精密度、准确度较好.  相似文献

采用微波消解法进行溶样,以ICP-AES法测定塑料中Pb和Cd的含量。Pb、Cd的回收率分别为96.0%~102.0、93.3%~105.0%。Pb、Cd测定结果的相对标准偏差分别为0.567%、1.19%(n=10)。Pb和Cd的检出限分别为0.02、0.005 mg/L。该方法适用于多种塑料中Pb和Cd含量的快速分析。  相似文献

In this work Cu and Fe bioavailability in cashew nuts was evaluated using in vitro method. Extractions with simulated gastric and intestinal fluids and dialysis procedures were applied for this purpose. The proteins separation and quantification were performed by size exclusion chromatography (SEC) coupled on-line to ultra-violet (UV) and off-line to simultaneous multielement atomic absorption spectrometry (SIMAAS). The SEC-UV and SIMAAS profiles of the protein fractions obtained by alkaline extraction (NaOH) and precipitation with HCl indicated the presence of high and low molecular weight species in the range between >75 kDa and 9.3 kDa. Almost 83% of Cu and 78% of Fe were extracted during cashew nut digestion and 90% of both elements were dialyzed. With these results it is possible to assume that 75% of Cu and 70% of Fe present in cashew nut could be bioavailable. The SEC-UV and SIMAAS chromatographic profiles obtained after in vitro gastrointestinal digestion reveal that Cu and Fe not dialyzed can be associated to a compound of 9.2 kDa.  相似文献

考察了采用固相萃取技术时毛发中海洛因毒品及其代谢物的原形释放方法。通过对海洛因吸食者毛发和空白添加标准品毛发的碱消解、酸消解、甲醇超声提取、甲醇-5 mol/L HCI超声提取、甲醇-TFA超声提取5种毛发中毒品及其代谢物的释放方法考察,确立了甲醇超声提取-固相萃取-气相色谱/质谱-选择离子检测的方法为稳定、有效的海洛因滥用者毛发中毒品及其代谢物的释放与检测方法。利用该方法对添加6-单乙酰吗啡的毛发进行萃取和测试,6-单乙酰吗啡的回收率为78.7%,相对标准偏差RSD为2.4%,该方法可有效地检出海洛因滥用者毛发中的6-单乙酰吗啡。  相似文献

为了避免繁琐、耗时的"赶酸"操作, 研究了尿素结合NaOH除去微波消解液中过量的HNO3和HNO2的干扰,继用L-半胱氨酸在低酸度下将As(Ⅴ)还原为As(Ⅲ)的样品消化和预还原方法.用氢化物发生-原子荧光法准确、快速地测定了食品中痕量砷.该方法的检出限为0.03 μg/L;连续11次测定4 μg/L As(Ⅲ)标准溶液的相对标准偏差为1.6%; 测定国家标准物质的结果与标准值非常吻合.  相似文献
