Activation of Carbon Dioxide and Synthesis of Propylene Carbonate

Cycloaddition of carbon dioxdie and propylene oxide to propylene carbonate catalyzed by tetra-tert-butyl metal phthalocyanine in the presence of tributylamine(TBA) shows higher yield than catalyzed by unsubstituted metal phthalocyanine.Comparing different catalysts of diverse metals,(t-Bu)4PcMg is more active than (t-Bu)PcFe ,But(t-Bu)4PcCo and (t-Bu)4PcNi only have low catalytic activities towards the reaction.Moreover,the yield will increase as the temperature increases.     

A new synthesis of 3,4-disubstituted 1,2,5-thiadiazoles

A simple and convenient reduction of 3,4-diamino derivatives of 2,5-thiadiazole-1-oxide to the corresponding 1,2,5-thiadiazoles has been accomplished using Ph₃P and CCl₄ in dichloromethane.     

Synthesis and Characterization of Tetraosmium Carbonyl Complexes Containing a Bridging CO2 Ligand

Treatment of (thd)H (thd=2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-3,5-heptandionate) with excess Os₃(CO)₁₂ in an autoclave at 180°C gives the formation of a brown metal chain complex [Os₂(CO)₅(thd)₂]₂ (1) and a yellow CO₂ cluster complex [Os₄(-H)(-CO₂)(thd)(CO)₁₃] (2) in low yields. Complex 2 was fully identified by a combination of spectroscopic methods and X-ray diffraction study, showing a unique CO₂ ligand bridging a triosmium metal fragment, Os₃(-H)(CO)₁₀ and a monometallic osmium fragment, Os(CO)₃(thd). Upon treatment of 1 with Me₃NO at an elevated temperature, oxidation of the CO ligand occurred at the position trans to the unique CO₂ ligand on the Os(CO)₃(thd) fragment, giving the formation of a second CO₂ cluster [Os₄(-H)(-CO₂)(thd)(CO)₁₂(NCMe)] (3), which is stabilized by a weakly coordinated acetonitrile molecule.

Characterization of Mercury – Humic Acids Interaction by Potentiometric Titration with a Modified Carbon Paste Mercury Sensor

Stability constant for mercury binding by commercial and natural humic acids (HA) were determined using a new potentiometric mercury(II) sensor based on dithiosalicylic acid modified carbon paste electrode. The sensor present a high selective and sensitive response to mercury(II) ions, and a low detection limit of 1.8×10^?8 M. The potentiometric titrations curves of humic acids against mercury(II) ions were modeled. For 1.00×10^?7 to 3.00×10^?4 M mercury(II) ion concentration levels the results are consistent with the presence of two different binding sites in the humic acid macromolecule. The strongest binding sites (log K₁ ranging from 10.1 to 6.8) are probably due to interaction with carboxylic acid and amine groups in the molecule, whereas weakest binding sites (log K₂ ranging from 8.8 to 4.5) can be associated to phenolic groups.

Pd(0)‐catalyzed polyaddition of bifunctional vinyloxiranes with 1,3‐dicarbonyl compounds: The synthesis of polymers containing hydroxy and carbonyl groups

The palladium(0)‐catalyzed polyaddition of bifunctional vinyloxiranes [1,4‐bis(2‐vinylepoxyethyl)benzene ( 1a ) and 1,4‐bis(1‐methyl‐2‐vinylepoxyethyl)benzene ( 1b )] with 1,3‐dicarbonyl compounds [methyl acetoacetate ( 4 ), dimethyl malonate ( 6 ), and Meldrum's acid ( 8 )] was investigated under various conditions. The polyaddition of 1 with 4 was carried out in tetrahydrofuran with phosphine ligands such as PPh₃ and 1,2‐bis(diphenylphosphino)ethane (dppe). Polymers having hydroxy, ketone, and ester groups in the side groups ( 5 ) were obtained in good yields despite the kinds of ligands employed. The number‐average molecular weight value of 5b was higher than that of 5a . The polyaddition of 1b and 6 was affected by the kinds of ligands employed. The corresponding polymer 7b was not obtained when PPh₃ and 1,2‐bis(diphenylphosphino)ferrocene were used. The polyaddition was carried out with dppe as the ligand and gave polymer 7b in a good yield. The molecular weight of the polymer obtained from 1b and 8 was much higher than those of polymers 5b and 7b . The polyaddition with Pd₂(dba)₃ · CHCl₃/dppe as a catalyst (where dba is dibenzylideneacetone) produced polymer 9b in a 92% yield (number‐average molecular weight = 45,600). The stereochemistries of all the obtained polymers were confirmed as an E configuration by the coupling constant of the vinyl proton. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. 根据FID检测器工作原理，提出一种相对质量校正因子的计算公式。由该公式出发可以推导出相对摩尔响应值（RMR）与化合物碳数的线性关系式和有效碳数的近似计算方法，并赋予原计算方法中的参数以明确的含意，解决了参数之间的矛盾。新方法的计算值同文献数据吻合良好。     

Rapid analysis of triterpenic acids by liquid chromatography using porous graphitic carbon and evaporative light scattering detection

An original system which uses Porous Graphitic Carbon as support and a mixture of organic solvents as mobile phase is proposed for the analysis of triterpenic acids by liquid chromatography. The separation of betulinic acid, ursolic acid, oleanolic acid, and 18alpha- and 18beta-glycyrrhetinic acids was carried out within a short time and monitored by evaporative light scattering detection as universal detection method. Molecular modelling studies show that the main contribution to the selectivity comes from the electrostatic interaction characterised by the dipole moment of the products.
