This paper describes the formation of catalytically active thin films of Pt, Pt/Au, and Pt/Ru on gold substrates stabilized by amine‐terminated polyamidoamine (PAMAM) dendrimers. A monolayer of dendrimer is initially self‐assembled on the gold substrate, which serves as a template for the growth of catalytically active thin films. As dendrimers contain tens to hundreds of functional groups at the periphery, the aggregate strength of the multidentate interactions with the gold substrate leads to the formation of robust films. The films were found to exhibit high catalytic activity for the oxidation of small hydrocarbons such as methanol. Such films offer versatility and scope for the design of effective electrocatalysts, especially in the context of microfuel cells and “dendrichips”; hence, they could find applications in the fields of sensors, fuel cells, and waste‐water treatment.  相似文献

A new series of V-shaped trinuclear metallorods and X-shaped pentanuclear metallostars has been prepared by the reaction of metal complexes bearing pendant phenolic functionalities with complexes containing electrophilic ligands. Specifically, {M(tpy)2} motifs (M=Ru or Os; tpy=2,2':6',2'-terpyridine) bearing one or two pendant 3,5-dihydroxyphenyl substituents at the 4-position of the central ring of the tpy have been reacted with the complexes [Ru(tpy)(Xtpy)]2+ (X=Cl or Br) to form new ether-linked species. The energy transfer from ruthenium to osmium in these complexes has been investigated in detail and the efficiency of transfer shown to be highly temperature dependent; the energy transfer is highly efficient at low temperature, whereas at room temperature nonradiative and nontransfer deactivation of the excited {Ru(tpy)2}* domains is most significant.  相似文献

Host-guest interactions between the periphery of adamantylurea-functionalized dendrimers (host) and ureido acetic acid derivatives (guest) were shown to be specific, strong and spatially well-defined. The binding becomes stronger when using phosphonic or sulfonic acid derivatives. In the present work we have quantified the binding constants for the host-guest interactions between two different host motifs and six different guest molecules. The host molecules, which resemble the periphery of a poly(propylene imine) dendrimer, have been fitted with an anthracene-based fluorescent probe. The two host motifs differ in terms of the length of the spacer between a tertiary amine and two ureido functionalities. The guest molecules all contain an acidic moiety (either a carboxylic acid, a phosphonic acid, or a sulfonic acid) and three of them also contain an ureido moiety capable of forming multiple hydrogen bonds to the hosts. The binding constants for all 12 host-guest complexes have been determined by using fluorescence titrations by monitoring the increase in fluorescence of the host upon protonation by the addition of the guest. The binding constants could be tuned by changing the design of the acidic part of the guest. The formation of hydrogen bonds gives, in all cases, higher association constants, demonstrating that the host is more than a proton sensor. The host with the longer spacer (propyl) shows higher association constants than the host with the shorter spacer (ethyl). The gain in association constants are higher when the urea function is added to the guests for the host with the longer spacer, indicating a better fit. Collision-induced dissociation mass spectrometry (CID-MS) is used to study the stability of the six motifs using the corresponding third generation dendrimer. A similar trend is found when the six different guests are compared.  相似文献

In the reaction of the N-substituted diethanolamines (H(2)L(1-3)) (1-3) with calcium hydride followed by addition of iron(III) or indium(III) chloride, the iron wheels [Fe(6)Cl(6)(L(1))(6)] (4) and [Fe(6)Cl(6)(L(2))(6)] (6) or indium wheels [In(6)Cl(6)(L(1))(6)] (5), [In(6)Cl(6)(L(2))(6)] (8) and [In(6)Cl(6)(L(3))(6)] (9) were formed in excellent yields. Exchange of the chloride ions of 6 by thiocyanate ions afforded [Fe(6)(SCN)(6)(L(2))(6)] (7). Whereas the structures of 4, 5 and 7 were determined unequivocally by single-crystal X-ray analyses, complexes 8 and 9 were characterised by NMR spectroscopy. Contrary to what is normally presumed, the scaffolds of six-membered metallic wheels are not generally rigid, but rather undergo nondissociative topomerisation processes. This was shown by variable temperature (VT) (1)H NMR spectroscopy for the indium wheel [In(6)Cl(6)(L(1))(6)] (5) and is highlighted for the enantiotopomerisation of one indium centre [ 1/6[S(6)-5]<==>[1/6[S(6)-5']]. The self-assembly of metallic wheels, starting from diethanolamine dendrons, is an efficient strategy for the convergent synthesis of metallodendrimers.  相似文献

The self-assembly of diaminododecane solubilised by four different stereoisomeric dendritic peptides to form gel-phase materials in toluene was investigated. The second generation dendritic peptides were based on D- and L-lysine building blocks, and each contained three chiral centres. By designing dendritic peptides in which the configurations of the chiral centres were modified, and applying them as gelator units, the assembly of stereoisomers could be investigated. In all cases, the self-assembly of gelator units resulted in macroscopic gelation. However, the degree of structuring was modulated by the stereoisomers employed, an effect which changed the morphology and macroscopic behavior of the self-assembled state. Enantiomeric (L,L,L or D,D,D) gelator units formed fibrous molecular assemblies, whilst the racemic gel (50 % L,L,L : 50 % D,D,D) formed a flat structure with a "woven" appearance. Gelator units based on L,D,D or D,L,L dendritic peptides also formed fibrous assemblies, but small-angle X-ray scattering indicated significant morphological differences were caused by the switch in chirality. Furthermore, the macroscopic stability of the gel was diminished when these peptides were compared with their L,L,L or D,D,D analogues. In this paper it is clearly shown that individual stereocentres, on the molecular level, are directly related to the helicity within the fibre. It is argued that the chirality controls the pattern of hydrogen bonding within the assembly, and hence determines the extent of fibre formation and the macroscopic gel strength.  相似文献

Cobalt(II) complexes of poly(aryl ester) dendrimer porphyrins [(m-[Gn]TPP)Co(II)] (generation number n=0-4), in the presence of azobisisobutyronitrile (AIBN) at 60 degrees C, underwent alkenylation with several alkynes at the metal center. A complete inhibition of double-bond migration (secondary transformation) was observed for [(m-[Gn]TPP)Co(II)] (n=3 and 4), which gave [(m-[Gn]TPP)Co(III)-C(=CH(2))R] (n=3 and 4) exclusively. Overall reaction rates for [(m-[Gn]TPP)Co(II)] (n=0-3) were hardly dependent on the size of the dendritic substituents, while a notable retardation was observed for the largest dendrimer, [(m-[G4]TPP)Co(II)]. Mechanistic studies on double-bond migration with pure [(m-[Gn]TPP)Co(III)-C(=CH(2))Bu] (n=0-4) demonstrated that the secondary transformation involves participation of [(m-[Gn]TPP)Co(III)H] (n=0-4), derived from [(m-[Gn]TPP)Co(II)] and AIBN, rather than [(m-[Gn]TPP)Co(II)] alone. Crossover experiments using [(m-[Gn]TPP)Co(III)-C(=CH(2))Bu] (n=2-4), in combination with nondendritic [(m-[G0]TPP)Co(II)] and AIBN, indicated a high level of steric protection of the active center by a robust [G4]-dendritic cage, as suggested by a (1)H NMR pulse relaxation time profile of m-[G4]TPPH(2).  相似文献

The preparation of rigid aromatic, highly branched polyamides is described. Owing to the method of preparation and the chosen ratio of difunctional to trifunctional monomers, these entities are highly porous and not dendrimeric in nature. They better conform with the fractal model and are therefore called fractal polyamides (FPs). The effects of variations in the polymerization procedure, in total monomer concentration, in the ratio of amine to carboxyl groups and in the duration of the polycondensation reaction are investigated. A series of novel dendronized π‐conjugated poly(isocyanide)s were synthesized successfully by using a Pd? Pt μ‐ethynediyl dinuclear complex ([ClPt{P(C2H5)3}2C?CPt{P(C2H5)3}2Cl]) as the initiator. The polymerizations of the dendronized monomers follow first‐order kinetics, indicating that living polymerization takes place. The obtained polymers exhibit narrow polydispersities in the range of 1.03–1.20. Thermal properties of the poly(isocyanide)s as well as their isocyanide monomers and precursors with formamido (HCONH‐) moieties as apexes were investigated by using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), polarized optical microscopy (POM) and wide‐angle X‐ray diffraction (WAXD). Both the peripheries and the apex groups of the dendrons affect the formation of supramolecular column and/or cubic phases of the precursors and monomers. The formamido precursor forms a liquid‐crystalline phase due to intermolecular hydrogen bonding. The isocyanide monomer lacks this hydrogen‐bonding ability and does not display an organized mesophase. All of the rigid poly(isocyanide)s with the monodendrons exhibit columnar liquid‐crystalline phases. Interestingly, cylindrical structures of a poly(isocyanide) were directly visualized by using transmission electron microscopy (TEM).  相似文献

Azide-functionalized PAMAM dendrons containing an azidopropylamine focal point were synthesized by the divergent method and applied for the construction of symmetric PAMAM-like dendrimers containing 1,2,3-triazole rings as connectors via stitching with two different multi-terminal alkynes. The stitching method was based on the click chemistry protocol, i.e., the copper-catalyzed cycloaddition reaction between an alkyne and an azide.  相似文献
