Teflon® FEP (fluorinated ethylene propylene) is resistant to most chemical solvents, is heat sealable and has low moisture uptake, which make this polymer attractive as a packaging materials for electronics and implantable devices. Teflon® FEP/Ti microjoints were fabricated by using focused infrared laser irradiation. Teflon® FEP/Ti interfaces were studied by using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), Auger electron spectroscopy (AES) and scanning electron microscopy coupled with energy dispersive spectroscopy (SEM-EDS). The XPS results give evidence for the formation of Ti-F bonds in the interfacial region. The AES and SEM-EDS results show that the chemical bond formation occurs only in the actual bond area. No evidence for chemical bond formation was found in the heat affected zone surrounding the laser bonds.  相似文献

The practical importance of alloy surfaces in catalysis, corrosion andother aspects of materials performance is widely recognized. What is needed now is sufficient knowledge of the relationship between externally controllable factors — alloy composition, temperature, environment — and surface properties — composition, structure, chemical activity — to control materials performance in these applications. Our purpose here is to review progress in determining and predicting the relationship between one surface property, composition, and certain externally controllable variables: overall composition, temperature, environment and physical form.We find that theoretical treatments of metal alloy surface composition now include essentially all significant physical effects and can predict values for most parameters of interest. Though improvements are still possible, the accuracy of predictions is more often limited by uncertainties or absence of the basic data for the calculations (e.g., thermochemical values) than by the models themselves.Alloy surface composition can now be measured well. The first monolayercomposition of large alloy slabs can be determined quantitatively over a wide temperature range in ultra-high vacuum. Difficulties with specimens of practical interest still challenge experimentalists. Among these are supported catalysts, surfaces under chemisorbed layers and composition of layers below the first. Significant progress is being made and we expect the next few years will see success.  相似文献

 The paper focuses on the microstructural characterisation of secondary phases in an AZ91 magnesium alloy. The orientation relationship and atomic structure of semi-coherent Mg/Mg17Al12 interfaces are studied by means of selected area diffraction, EDS and high resolution TEM. Besides the common Mg17Al12 semi-coherent platelets of high density and coarser incoherent Mg17Al12 particles, other, less frequent precipitates were found, rich in Al and Mn. The quasicrystalline nature of these precipitates was detected by means of electron diffraction.  相似文献

During the last years (2000–2014), many publications concerning the forensic analysis of questioned documents have been published, and new techniques and methodologies are nowadays employed to overcome forensic caseworks. This article reviews a comprehensive collection of the works focused on this issue, including dating studies, the analysis of inks from pens and printers, the analysis of paper, the analysis of other samples related to questioned documents and studies on intersecting lines. These sections highlight the most relevant analytical studies by a wide range of analytical techniques. Separation and spectrometric techniques are critically discussed and compared, emphasizing the advantages and disadvantages of each one. Finally, concluding remarks on the research published are included.  相似文献

The present paper describes the characterization carried out on the roof of a private palace located in the historical center of Venice (Italy). We focused our attention on the studies of original constituent materials (pigments and binders), in order to identify the pictorial technique of the artist and verify the stylistic attribution to Giuseppe Borsato, a Venetian painter operating between 18th and 19th century. Characterization of collected samples was carried on using both conventional and advanced analytical techniques, such as Optical Microscopy and Scanning Electron Microscopy coupled with Energy Dispersive X-Ray (SEM–EDS) microscopy, Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) and High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) coupled with photodiode array detection (DAD) and Mass Spectrometry (MS). The finding of dating pigments (such as Cobalt blue and Cu–As based green) and of a complex binding's mixture compatible with the considered supposed period, allowed us to confirm the attribution hypothesis.  相似文献

The analysis of about 60 samples of wall paintings was carried out using different chemicophysical techniques: optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) equipped with an EDS microanalysis detector, X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The identified pigments were cinnabar, hematite, red ochre, celadonite, cuprorivaite (Egyptian blue), yellow ochre, goethite and carbon. Only in one case some lead white was found instead. In general, the mortar preparation did not correspond to the complex structure suggested by Vitruvius (De Architectura), but it generally showed a porous layer, with crushed grains under the pigment layer. In certain cases two superposed pigment layers were found: yellow superimposed on both red and pink, black on pink, green on black.  相似文献

 A method for quantitative analysis of Ti-Si-Ge/Si-Ge/Si structures with submicron thick layers by energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) in transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and Auger electron spectroscopy (AES) was developed. Quantitation of the results of both AES and EDS techniques was performed on the basis of a single reference specimen for the Ti-Si-Ge system comprising a uniform layer of the Ti(Si0.85Ge0.15)2 phase on a silicon substrate. The reference sample was prepared by the same procedure as the samples used in the study, and was thoroughly characterized by X-ray diffractometry, transmission electron microscopy and energy dispersive spectroscopy in scanning electron microscopy. Using this reference sample the elemental sensitivity factors relative to Si were found for both techniques, which enable us to obtain the elemental depth distributions for the studied samples. Good agreement between the results obtained by EDS/TEM, AES and supplementary techniques was found.  相似文献

Until 2008, high-resolution particle-induced x-ray emission (HR-PIXE) work used mostly wavelength dispersive spectrometers and aimed at fundamental problems and application demonstrations. The method was hardly used for applications in general, mostly due to the small energy window and solid angle of most equipment. In the last 14 years, a few facts pushed HR-PIXE out and beyond this framework. Here, we focus on the developments following the observation of x-ray relative yield ion energy dependence (RYIED) effects on transitions to the same sub-shell, in PIXE experiments, in 2004, and the installation, in 2008, of the first energy dispersive HR-PIXE (EDS HR-PIXE) system. Both facts are among those that were concurrent to the emergence of new problems and perspectives in PIXE and in fundamental atomic physics in the recent past. This review covers these 14 years of results on these issues and the answers they recently led to. Evidence for new problems and perspectives, including the potential access to chemical bonding and/or solid state information, based on EDS HR-PIXE work, are discussed. Furthermore, the grounds for the possibility of developments leading to a new field of atomic solid state physics are presented.  相似文献

Raman spectroscopy was used to chemically map lesions associated with molar–incisor hypomineralisation in human teeth. Three teeth with hypomineralised lesions of differing severity, described as white, yellow or brown, were mapped using integral ratios of major component bands (hydroxyapatite, amide I and b‐type carbonate) and principal component analysis scores values. These lesions were found to contain depleted levels of mineral (hydroxyapatite) compared with those of healthy enamel. Principal component analysis also highlighted changes in the phosphate structure and variations in various organic constituents. These variations were consistent with increased disorder in the mineral component of the hypomineralised tooth lesions.
