Efficient Synthesis of N,N′‐Disubstituted Ureas/Thioureas Catalyzed by Iodine

Iodine is an efficient catalyst for the synthesis of symmetrically N,N′‐disubstituted ureas/thioureas by heating respective amines or phenyl hydrazine and urea/thiourea on a preheated hot plate at 90–95°C, under solvent‐free conditions. The yields are excellent, and the reactions go to complete within 5–10 min.     

Synthesis of Some Novel bis‐Spiro[indole‐pyrazolinyl‐thiazolidine]‐2,4′‐diones

The reaction of 1H‐indol‐2,3‐diones with 1,6‐dibromohexane has resulted in the formation of new 1H‐indol‐2,3‐diones‐1,1′‐(1,6‐hexanediyl)bis in quantitative yields. These compounds have been used for the synthesis of novel [3′‐(2,3‐dimethyl‐5‐oxo‐1‐phenyl‐3‐pyrazolin‐4‐yl)spiro[3H‐indol‐3,2′‐thiazolidine]‐2,4′‐dione]‐1,1′‐(1,6‐hexanediyl)bis via bis Schiff's bases, [3‐(2,3‐dimethyl‐5‐oxo‐1‐phenyl‐3‐pyrazolin‐4‐yl) imino‐1H‐indol‐2‐one]‐1,1′‐(1,6‐hexanediyl)bis.     

Synthesis of 2,2′‐Bi‐2H‐3,3′‐diaryl‐1,4‐benzothiazines from α,α‐Dibromoacetophenones and o‐Aminothiophenol

Some 2,2′‐bi‐2H‐3,3′‐diaryl‐1,4‐benzothiazines (5a–f) were synthesized from α,α‐dibromoacetophenones and o‐aminothiophenol.     

Synthesis and Luminescence of 14-Aryl- or Alkyl-14H-dibenzo[a,j]xanthenes Catalyzed by 2-1′-Methylimidazolium-3-yl-1-ethyl Sulfate

A facile and efficient synthesis of 14-aryl or alkyl-14H-dibenzo[a,j]xanthenes has been accomplished by treatment of β-naphthol with aryl or alkyl aldehydes catalyzed by 2-1′-methylimidazolium-3-yl-1-ethyl sulfate in ionic liquid [BMIM][BF₄] at 80°C. The luminescence of products was studied in detail.     

Synthesis of Novel Spiro[indol-2,2′-pyrroles] Using Isocyanide-Based Multicomponent Reaction

An efficient and facile method for the synthesis of novel spiro[indole-2,2′-pyrroles] from N-methyl-3-isatin imines, t-butyl isocyanide, and dialkyl acetylenedicarboxylate has been achieved by [3 + 2] cyclo addition reaction. All the products were purified by column chromatography as yellow solids and confirmed with ¹H NMR, ¹³C NMR, fast atom bombardment, mass, and infrared. Compound 11 was further confirmed with x-ray analysis.     

Synthesis of Isonucleoside 5′-Triphosphates

Abstract

A series of isonucleoside 5′-triphosphates were synthesized via a rapid and efficient method. The structures of the triphosphates (8a–8d) were characterized by ³¹P NMR and TOF-MS.     

ZrOCl2•8H2O-Catalyzed One-Pot Multicomponent Synthesis of β′-Acetamido-β-dicarbonyl Compounds with Special Reference to pref-Selective β′-Acetamido-β-ketoesters

ZrOCl₂ · 8H₂O catalyzes the one-pot synthesis of β′-acetamido-β-dicarbonyl compounds in high yields from aldehyde, enolizable β-dicarbonyl compound, acetyl chloride, and acetonitrile in solvent as well as in solvent-free conditions. β′-Acetamido-β-ketoesters are formed in moderate to exclusive pref-diastereoselectivity.     

Reaction of 4-(2′-Hydroxyaryl)-1,3-dithiolium Salts with Sodium Sulfide. A Selective Synthesis of 2′-Hydroxyacetophenones

Abstract

The treatment of 4-(2′-hydroxyaryl)-2-(N,N-dialkylamino)-1,3-dithiolium perchlorates (1a–g) with sodium sulfide nonahydrate in ethanol at room temperature affords the corresponding 1,3-dithiole-2-thiones (2a–g). When these reactions are conducted in boiling ethanol, 2′-hydroxyacetophenones (3a–g) have been obtained in good to excellent yield. A tentative mechanism for the formation of 3a–g shows that this reaction is regioselective, this being established by the presence of hydroxyl group in 2′-position. That has been confirmed in a control experiment, 4-phenyl-2-(piperidin-1-yl)-1,3-dithiolium perchlorate affording a mixture of condensation products of acetophenone and phenylacetaldehyde, under similar reaction conditions.     

First Thermal Chemoselective Synthesis of Novel 2′,3′‐Dihydro‐3′‐Hydroxy‐benzofuranylcoumarins

An attempted reaction of 4‐bromomethylcoumarin with 2‐hydroxy aromatic aldehyde/2‐hydroxy aromatic ketone at room temperature in the presence of a mild base resulted in the formation of cis‐2′,3′‐dihydro‐3‐hydroxybenzofuranylcoumarins by carbanion addition across the carbonyl carbon.     

Synthesis of New Pyrido[2′,3′:3,4]pyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidines and Their Use in the Preparation of Tetraheterocyclic Systems

8,10-Dimethyl-3-(unsubstituted, methyl, ethyl, n-butyl, phenyl)-4-hydroxypyrido[2′,3′:3,4]pyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidin-2(1H)-ones and 3-(2-hydroxyethyl)-2,8,10-trimethylpyrido[2′,3′:3,4]pyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidin-4-ol were synthesized by cyclocondensation of 3-amine-4,6-dimethyl-1H-pyrazolo[3,4-b]pyridine with ethyl malonates and α-acetyl-γ-butyrlolactone. Dichloro- and diazido- derivatives were obtained from the reaction of pyridopyrazlopyrimidine derivatives with POCl₃ followed by NaN₃. The tetrahetrocyclic systems were formed by cyclization of 4-chloro-3-(2-chloroethyl)-2,8,10-trimethylpyrido[2′,3′:3,4]pyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidine with the appropriate primary amines. The structures of all compounds were established by NMR and mass spectra.
