He-McKellar-Wilkens Effect in Noncommutative Space

The He-McKellar-Wilkens （HMW） effect in non-commutative （NC） space is studied. By solving the Dirac equations on NC space, we obtain topological HMW phase in NC space where the additional terms related to the space non-commutativity are given explicitly.

Selective solvent annealing induced phase separation and dewetting in PMMA/SAN blend ultrathin films

Phase behaviors induced by solvent annealing in poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) and poly(styrene‐ran‐acrylonitrile) (SAN) blend ultrathin films have been investigated by atomic force microscopy and grazing incidence small‐angle X‐ray scattering. Our results indicate that both the phase separation within the blend and the dewetting of the film induced by composition fluctuation take place upon the selective solvent annealing, producing complex structures containing upper droplets (of one phase) and mimic‐films (of the other rich‐phase). The use of acetic acid (the selective solvent for PMMA) generates PMMA mimic‐film and SAN droplets, while the introduction of DMF (exhibiting better solubility for SAN) vapor results in the formation of SAN mimic‐film and PMMA droplets. Essentially, the interaction at polymer/substrate interface, resultant wettability of selected component, solubility of PMMA and SAN in adopted solvent dominate not only the phase separation and the dewetting of the whole film but also the synergism of them. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A LIL and limit distributions for trimmed sums of random vectors attracted to operator semi-stable laws

Let θ∈ Rdbe a unit vector and let X,X1,X2,...be a sequence of i.i.d.Rd-valued random vectors attracted to operator semi-stable laws.For each integer n ≥ 1,let X1,n ≤···≤ Xn,n denote the order statistics of X1,X2,...,Xn according to priority of index,namely | X1,n,θ | ≥···≥ | Xn,n,θ |,where ·,· is an inner product on Rd.For all integers r ≥ 0,define by(r)Sn = n-ri=1Xi,n the trimmed sum.In this paper we investigate a law of the iterated logarithm and limit distributions for trimmed sums(r)Sn.Our results give information about the maximal growth rate of sample paths for partial sums of X when r extreme terms are excluded.A stochastically compactness of(r)Sn is obtained.     

Magnetic Flux Quantization of the Landau Problem

Landau problem has a very important application in modern physics, in which two-dimensional electron gas system and quantum Hall effect are outstanding. In this paper, first we review the solution of the Pauli equation, then using the single electron wave function, we calculate moving area expectations of the ideal 2-dimensional electron gas system and the per unit area’s degeneracy of the electron gas system. As a result, how to calculate the magnetic flux of the electron gas system is given. It shows that the magnetic flux of 2-dimensional electron gas system in magnetic field is quantized, and magnetic flux quantization results from the quantization of the moving area expectations of electron gas system.
