A Study of the Oxidation Pathway of Adrenaline by Cyclic Voltammetry: An Undergraduate Analytical Chemistry Laboratory Exercise

An undergraduate laboratory exercise to be used in an undergraduate instrumental methods course is presented for the electrochemical characterization of oxidation products of adrenaline. An objective of this experiment is to use information obtained through cyclic voltammetry and simulation software to develop a qualitative understanding of the oxidation mechanism of adrenaline.     

Asymptotic behavior of the eigenvalues of the p(x)-Laplacian

We obtain asymptotic estimates for the eigenvalues of the p(x)-Laplacian defined consistently with a homogeneous notion of first eigenvalue recently introduced in the literature.     

Mössbauer investigation of the reaction of ferrate(VI) with sulfamethoxazole and aniline in alkaline medium

Mechanisms on the oxidation of sulfamethoxazole (SMX) and aniline by ferrate(VI) (Fe^VIO $_{4}{^{2-}}$ , Fe(VI)) in alkaline medium suggested the formation of Fe(VI)-SMX or Fe(VI)-aniline intermediates, respectively. Fe(V) and Fe(IV) as other intermediate iron species have also been proposed in the mechanism. In this paper, rapid freeze Mössbauer spectroscopy was applied in rapidly frozen samples to explore intermediate iron species in the reactions of SMX and aniline with Fe(VI). In both reactions, Fe(VI)-SMX and Fe(VI)-aniline intermediates were not seen in second-minute time scale. Fe(V) and Fe(IV) were also not observed. Fe(III) was the only final species of the reactions.     

Uniform quasi-concavity in probabilistic constrained stochastic programming

A probabilistic constrained stochastic linear programming problem is considered, where the rows of the random technology matrix are independent and normally distributed. The quasi-concavity of the constraining function needed for the convexity of the problem is ensured if the factors of the function are uniformly quasi-concave. A necessary and sufficient condition is given for that property to hold. It is also shown, through numerical examples, that such a special problem still has practical application in optimal portfolio construction.     

Existence of solutions to nonlinear Neumann boundary value problems with <Emphasis Type="Italic">p</Emphasis>-Laplacian operator and iterative construction

By using some results of pseudo-monotone operator, we discuss the existence and uniqueness of the solution of one kind nonlinear Neumann boundary value problems involving the p-Laplacian operator. We also construct an iterative scheme converging strongly to this solution.     

Asymptotic periodicity for some evolution equations in Banach spaces

This work deals with the existence and uniqueness of pseudo-almost periodic and asymptotically ω-periodic mild solutions to some evolution equations in Banach spaces.     

Nonexistence and existence of positive solutions for?second order singular three-point boundary value problems with derivative dependent and sign-changing nonlinearities

This paper discusses the nonexistence and the existence of positive solutions for second order singular three-point boundary value problems when the nonlinear term f(t,x,y) is sign-changing and may be singular at t=0, x=0, y=0.
