Semi-self-maintained discharge in E ⊥ H fields with open electron drift

The nature of the anomalous change of the activation energy of carbon diffusion in bcc alloys of Ti-Nb

Reasons are considered for an anomalously strong change in the activation energy of carbon diffusion in bcc alloys of titanium-niobium in the range of low niobium concentration. The notion of formation of -phase microdomains in the bcc phase is invoked, It is shown that the presence of these microdomains may lead to a change in the slope of the temperature dependence of the diffusion coefficient, which may be interpreted as an increase in the activation energy of diffusion.Moscow Engineering Physics Institute, Sverdlovsk Branch. The Role of High-Velocity Electrons in a Hollow-Cathode Discharge

In this paper, the features of a low-pressure discharge in a hollow cathode are considered. It has been shown that a free mode can be realized with a double electric layer at the cathode and high density of the current of high-velocity electrons in the discharge bulk, considerably exceeding the current density at the cathode. In this case, the rate of ionization by high-velocity electrons considerably exceeds the rate of ionization by plasma electrons.

Bäcklund transformations

We describe a Bäcklund transformation, i.e., a differentially related pair of differential equations, in a coordinate manner appropriate for calculations and applications. We present several known explanatory examples, including Bäcklund transformations for gauge fields in a Minkowski space of arbitrary dimension.
