The Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov equations associated with the root system <Emphasis Type="Italic">G</Emphasis><Subscript>2</Subscript>

At the end of the twentieth century, in mathematical physics, the Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov equations for the root systems A _n and their generalizations for the root systems of types B _n , C _n , and D were constructed. For the root system of type G ₂, the vector version of the Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov equations was obtained by M. P. Zamakhovskii and V. P. Leksin. However, the tensor version of these equations has remained unstudied. Stress monitoring in a Guinness 10-day scuba dive

Nowadays, there is high demand for sensitive gas sensors both for human and environmental monitoring. This paper deals with a high-resolution (0.2 ppb) laser-based photoacoustic spectroscopic system realized at ENEA Frascati, Italy, applied for monitoring stress in scuba divers during sustained immersion by analyzing breath samples. Blood tests and psychometric tests for scuba divers were performed at Catholic University in Rome. Results will be reported and discussed.     

Conditions of stability of magnetic sublattices at exchange mixing of states with different spins

The conditions of compatibility of the magnetic sublattice hypothesis with the requirements of quantum theory have been derived. These conditions imply the presence of (even weak) magnetic anisotropy and a macroscopic number of spins in the sublattice.     

Effect of oxygen stoichiometry and microstructure on superconducting properties of YBaCuO films

Microstructure and oxygen stoichiometry of YBaCuO films manufactured by laser ablation are investigated. Dependence of the specific electrical resistivity and superconducting parameters of films on microstructure and oxygen stoichiometry is demonstrated. A glass fiber piezooptical optical bistability device is reported.Basing on pho-toelastic and strain effects of single-mode fiber,we have realized piezooptical modulation andperformed experiments of optical bistability.

Ionic conductivity of epitactic MBE-grown BaF2 films

We studied parallel conductivities of pure BaF₂ films with thicknesses ranging from 35 to 300 nm, epitaxially grown on Al₂O₃(0 1 2) substrates by molecular beam epitaxy technique. The overall conductivities of the films are found to increase with decreasing thickness. The detailed investigation of the overall conductance as a function of the thickness permits the deconvolution of bulk and boundary effects, the latter being attributed to distinct space charge effects in the interface between BaF₂ film and Al₂O₃ substrate. The (extrinsic) Debye length (λ) is estimated to be about 8 nm at T=593 K, which corresponds to an impurity content of 10¹⁸/cm³ (singly ionized dopant assumed). This is consistent with the fact that we observed a constant boundary contribution for all investigated films (film thickness >4λ). It is also consistent with the Debye length observed in a previous report on CaF₂/BaF₂ heterolayers fabricated by the same technique, in which the low temperature enhancement was also attributed to space charges in BaF₂ [Nature 408 (2000) 946]. Only at low temperatures (below 370 °C), the conductance seems to be influenced by strain effect.
