In a benchmark dynamical-lattice model in three dimensions, the discrete nonlinear Schr?dinger equation, we find discrete vortex solitons with various values of the topological charge S. Stability regions for the vortices with S=0,1,3 are investigated. The S=2 vortex is unstable and may spontaneously rearranging into a stable one with S=3. In a two-component extension of the model, we find a novel class of stable structures, consisting of vortices in the different components, perpendicularly oriented to each other. Self-localized states of the proposed types can be observed experimentally in Bose-Einstein condensates trapped in optical lattices and in photonic crystals built of microresonators. 相似文献

We report on energetic surface reconstruction phenomena observed on bimetallic nanoparticle systems of AuPd and AuCu, similar to a resolidification effect observed during the cooling process in lead clusters. These binary alloy nanoparticles show the fivefold edges truncated, resulting in [100] facets on decahedral structures, an effect largely envisioned and reported theoretically, with no experimental evidence so far. We demonstrate experimentally as well as by computational simulations that this new eutectic structure is favored in such nanoalloy systems. 相似文献

Measurements of the production of forward high-energy pi(0) mesons from transversely polarized proton collisions at sqrt[s]=200 GeV are reported. The cross section is generally consistent with next-to-leading order perturbative QCD calculations. The analyzing power is small at x(F) below about 0.3, and becomes positive and large at higher x(F), similar to the trend in data at sqrt[s]< or =20 GeV. The analyzing power is in qualitative agreement with perturbative QCD model expectations. This is the first significant spin result seen for particles produced with p(T)>1 GeV/c at a polarized proton collider. 相似文献

Molecular dynamics simulations of the liquid-vapor interfaces of liquid metals have been performed using first principles methods. Results are presented for liquid lithium and sodium near their respective triple points, for samples of 2000 particles in a slab geometry. The atomic density profiles show a pronounced stratification extending several atomic diameters into the bulk, which is similar to that already experimentally observed in liquid K, Ga, In, and Hg. 相似文献

Puzzling discrepancies between recent pion interferometry data on Au+Au reactions at square root of s=30 and 200 AGeV from RHIC and predictions based on ideal hydrodynamics are analyzed in terms of covariant parton transport theory. The discrepancies in the R(out)/R(side) ratio are significantly reduced when the finite opacity of the gluon plasma is taken into account. The perturbation of the physical state of cell membranes triggered by an external oxidative stimulus has been studied with sperm cells which were chosen as a model system. Electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy was applied and three different nitroxides bearing a paramagnetic group on the 5th, 7th and 13th carbon of the stearic acid acyl chain were used to probe different regions of the membrane. The theoretical simulations of the experimental spectra indicate distinct domains in the intact cell plasma membrane where local steric constraints impose different degrees of motional averaging experienced by the reporter group. Upon the external oxidative stimulus the spectral changes were proportional to the accumulated oxidation products and were detected only for the reporter group residing close to the lipid-water interface. The EPR spectra reveal that the motion of the reporter group has slowed down in the oxidized cells and that the oxidatively modified membrane shows up as a more rigid structure as compared with the native state. The results also indicate that the oxidation-induced spectral changes are supressed in the presence of gangliosides. 相似文献

The extended quadruple–Kerr metric is used to consider equilibrium states of four collinear Kerr particles. We explain our previous failure to solve numerically the full set of the balance equations, and we derive a self–consistent system of the axis conditions leading to the equilibrium of all four constituents which can be black holes or hyperextreme objects. The equilibrium configurations obtained in this paper exhibit similar features with those occurring in the systems of two Kerr particles, for instance, the balance of four Kerr black holes with positive masses does not seem possible. Pseudo-effect algebras are partial algebras (E;+,0,1) with a partially defined addition + which is not necessarily commutative and therefore with two complements, left and right. If they satisfy a special kind of the Riesz decomposition property, they are intervals in unital po-groups. The general comparability property in unital po-groups with strong unit (G,u), allows to compare elements of G in some intervals with Boolean ends. Such a po-group is always an -group admitting a state. We prove that every such (G,u) is a subdirect product of linearly ordered unital po-groups. 相似文献
