Improved solution for inventory model with defective goods

This paper is a consequence for a paper of Lin et al. [S.W. Lin, Y.W. Wou, P. Julian, Note on minimax distribution free procedure for integrated inventory model with defective goods and stochastic lead time demand, Appl. Math. Model. 35 (2011) 2087–2093]. We simplified their complicated solution procedure and then presented a revision to patch their negligence for the boundary minimums. Numerical examples are provided to demonstrate our findings.     

DERIVATIVES OF 4-CHLORO-3,5-DINITROBENZOTRIFLUORIDE V. SYNTHESIS OF 4,6-DINITRO-2,8-BIS(TRIFLUOROMETHYL) PHENOTHIAZINE (1), ISOPROPYL 2,6-DINITRO-4-TRIFLUOROMETHYLPHENYL SULFIDE (2) AND BIS(2,6-DINITRO-4-TRIFLUOROMETHYLPHENYL) DISULFIDE (3)

Abstract

The reaction of potassium isopropyl dithiocarbonate with 4-chloro-3,5-dinitrobenzotrifluoride in dimethylformamide at 25–30°C afforded the titled phenothiazine (1) and sulfide (2). The reaction of bis(2,6-dinitro-4-trifluoromethylphenyl)-sulfide or the above halogen compound with sodium hydrosulfide in the same solvent at 80–90°C furnished 1. At 25–30°C the latter reaction afforded the titled disulfide (3). Possible mechanisms and supporting nmr, ir and mass spectral data are discussed.     

Thermoluminescence response as a function of irradiation temperature

Thermoluminescence response at different irradiation temperatures and photon energies has been studied. Analyses of the glow curve and the peak height of TLD 200, 600, 700 and CaSO₄:Dy for irradiations using ⁶⁰Co, ¹³⁷Cs and ²²⁶Ra were made.     

Ligand‐Functionalization of BPEI‐Coated YVO4:Bi3+,Eu3+ Nanophosphors for Tumor‐Cell‐Targeted Imaging Applications

In this study, surface‐functionalized, branched polyethylenimine (BPEI)‐modified YVO₄:Bi³⁺,Eu³⁺ nanocrystals (NCs) were successfully synthesized by a simple, rapid, solvent‐free hydrothermal method. The BPEI‐coated YVO₄:Bi³⁺,Eu³⁺ NCs with high crystallinity show broad‐band excitation in the λ=250 to 400 nm near‐ultraviolet (NUV) region and exhibit a sharp‐line emission band centered at λ=619 nm under excitation at λ=350 nm. The surface amino groups contributed by the capping agent, BPEI, not only improve the dispersibility and water/buffer stability of the BPEI‐coated YVO₄:Bi³⁺,Eu³⁺ NCs, but also provide a capability for specifically targeted biomolecule conjugation. Folic acid (FA) and epidermal growth factor (EGF) were further attached to the BPEI‐coated YVO₄:Bi³⁺,Eu³⁺ NCs and exhibited effective positioning of fluorescent NCs toward the targeted folate receptor overexpressed in HeLa cells or EGFR overexpressed in A431 cells with low cytotoxicity. These results demonstrate that the ligand‐functionalized, BPEI‐coated YVO₄:Bi³⁺, Eu³⁺ NCs show great potential as a new‐generation biological luminescent bioprobe for bioimaging applications. Moreover, the unique luminescence properties of BPEI‐coated YVO₄:Bi³⁺,Eu³⁺ NCs show potential to combine with a UVA photosensitizing drug to produce both detective and therapeutic effects for human skin cancer therapy.     

Study of phase coexistence in YVO3 and LaVO3

The coexistence at low temperature in YVO₃ and LaVO₃ of two competing phases with defined orbital and spin orientations is studied by Raman spectroscopy. The temperature evolution of the phonons indicates that phase coexistence, due to strain in YVO₃ and fluctuations in LaVO₃, is not restricted to small R ionic radius in RVO₃ compounds. Also, a typical temperature at 50 K is inferred from the temperature dependence of the intensities in LaVO₃. Copyright © 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
