Serum pharmacochemistry combined with multiple data processing approach to screen the bioactive components and their metabolites in Mutan Cortex by ultra‐performance liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry

Root cortex of Paeonia suffruticosa Andrews (Paeoniaceae), known as Moutan Cortex (MC), is known to have anti‐allergic and anti‐inflammatory properties. However, the constituents absorbed into blood after oral administration of MC remain unknown. A sensitive and rapid method by ultra‐high‐pressure liquid chromatography–electrospray ionization–quadrupole‐time‐of‐flight mass spectrometry (UPLC‐ESI‐Q‐TOF‐MS) technology and the MetaboLynx^TM software combined with multiple data processing approach (Mdpa) was established to investigate the absorbed constituents in rats after oral administration of MC, providing unique high‐throughput capabilities for drug metabolism study. A hyphenated electrospray ionization and quadrupole‐time‐of‐flight analyzer was used for the determination of accurate mass of the fragment ion in negative mode, with excellent MS mass accuracy and enhanced data acquisition. This rapid automated analysis method was successfully applied for screening and identification of the constituents absorbed and metabolized studies of MC after oral administration to rats. A total of 46 peaks were obtained from MC, 41 of which were tentatively characterized. In the VIP‐plot of orthogonal partial least‐squares discriminant analysis, 23 interesting ions in serum samples were extracted, and 16 parent components and seven metabolites were detected in vivo. The integrative serum pharmacochemistry technique, UPLC‐ESI‐Q‐TOF‐MS, and Mdpa method were successfully applied for rapid discovery of multiple components from MC. Triphenylphosphine-m-sulfonate/carbon tetrabromide as an easily recoverable catalyst system for the efficient synthesis of xanthene and xanthenone derivatives under solvent-free conditions

A solid complex,readily prepared from commercially available sodium triphenylphosphine-m-sulfonate（TPPMS） and carbon tetrabromide,can be used as an easily recoverable and reusable catalyst system for one-pot condensation of 2-naphthol with aldehydes to construct 14-aryl（alkyl）-14H-dibenzo[a j]-xanthene derivatives and one-pot condensation of 2-naphthol with aldehydes and cyclic 1 3-dicarbonyl compounds to construct 12-aryl（alkyl）-8 9 10 12-tetrahydrobenzo[a]xanthen-11-one derivatives.     

Structure and magnetostriction of Tb0.4Nd0.6(Fe0.8Co0.2) x alloys

Structural, magnetic and magnetostrictive properties of Tb_0.4Nd_0.6(Fe_0.8Co_0.2) _x (1.50 ≤ x ≤ 1.90) alloys have been investigated by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD), a vibrating sample magnetometer and a standard strain technique. XRD analysis shows the presence of single Laves phase with a cubic MgCu₂-type structure for the high Nd content alloy around the composition of x = 1.80, which tends to be formed by curing at relatively low annealing temperature. The easy direction of magnetization at room temperature is observed toward <111> axis, accompanied by a rhombohedral distortion with a large spontaneous magnetostriction λ₁₁₁. An optimized effect on the linear anisotropic magnetostriction, 360 ppm at 3 kOe, was observed for the high Nd content Tb_0.4Nd_0.6(Fe_0.8Co_0.2)_1.80 alloy, which can be attributed to its single Laves phase, the large λ₁₁₁ (~1,520 ppm) of the MgCu₂-type (Tb,Nd)(Fe,Co)₂ phase and the good soft magnetic behaviors.
