We report two-dimensional angular correlation of annihilation radiation (2D ACAR) measurements using positrons in single crystals of V3Si. Anisotropic structure commensurate with the reciprocal lattice is observed and attributed to the complex Fermi surface (FS). A simple geometrical model for the FS is developed and compared with folded ACAR distributions. The results of a 3D reconstruction are compared with recent band calculations.  相似文献

A cost-benefit analysis was recently undertaken to assist the Australian Government in the selection of a site for a second Sydney Airport. In order to evaluate sites on a comparable basis, it was necessary to establish, for each possible site, the optimum sequence of developments at both the present airport and the second airport, and the split in the traffic between the two airports. When an immersed solid elastic cylinder is insonified by an obliquely incident plane acoustic wave, some of the resonance modes of the cylinder are excited. These modes are directly related to the incidence angle of the insonifying wave. In this paper, the circumferential resonance modes of such immersed elastic cylinders are studied over a large range of incidence angles and frequencies and physical explanations are presented for singular features of the frequency-incidence angle plots. These features include the pairing of one axially guided mode with each transverse whispering gallery mode, the appearance of an anomalous pseudo-Rayleigh in the cylinder at incidence angles greater than the Rayleigh angle, and distortional effects of the longitudinal whispering gallery modes on the entire resonance spectrum of the cylinder. The physical explanations are derived from Resonance Scattering Theory (RST), which is employed to determine the interior displacement field of the cylinder and its dependence on insonification angle.  相似文献

Real-time light scattering measurements of coherent island coarsening during SiGe/Si heteroepitaxy reveal unusual kinetics. In particular, the mean island volume increases superlinearly with time, while the areal density of islands decreases at a faster-than-linear rate. Neither observation is consistent with standard considerations of Ostwald ripening. Modification of the standard theory to incorporate the effect of elastic interactions in the growing island array reproduces the observed behavior.  相似文献

A tractor-trailer problem, with full load, from the class of combined routeing and scheduling problems is described. Distinctive features of the problem are: movements must be carried out within certain time windows; subsets of movements are linked in the sense that they must be executed in a certain order; and different priorities are attached to different movements. A new bidirectional sequential constructive heuristic is developed for the solution of this problem. The method constructs routes and schedules for the available tractor fleet. The algorithm attempts to minimize the total time for all the movements by minimizing the time taken up by unproductive movements (so-called deadhead) and waiting time between movements. Some practical aspects of the implementation of the approach are discussed.  相似文献

The precise control over the formation of complex nanostructures, e.g. polyoxometalates (POMs), at the sub-nanoscale is challenging but critical if non-covalent architectures are to be designed. Combining biologically-evolved systems with inorganic nanostructures could lead to sequence-mediated assembly. Herein, we exploit oligopeptides as multidentate structure-directing ligands via metal-coordination and hydrogen bonded interactions to modulate the self-assembly of POM superstructures. Six oligopeptides (GH, AH, SH, G2H, G4H and G5H) are incorporated into the cavities of Molybdenum Blue (MB) POM nanowheels. It is found that the helicity of the nanowheel can be readily switched (Δ to Λ) by simply altering the N-terminal amino acid on the peptide chain rather than their overall stereochemistry. We also reveal a delicate balance between the Mo-coordination and the hydrogen bonds found within the internal cavity of the inorganic nanowheels which results in the sequence mediated formation of two unprecedented asymmetrical nanowheel frameworks: {Mo122Ce5} and {Mo126Ce4}.

Peptide sequence can be used to control the self-assembly and structures of nanoscale molybdenum blue polyoxometalate (POM) wheel-shaped clusters.  相似文献
