Synthesis and structure determination of diastereoisomeric (1R,2R,6S)-6-(3-{[(1RS)-1-(1-adamantyl)ethyl]amino}prop-1-en-2-yl)-3-methylcyclohex-3-ene-1,2-diols

Ionophoric and Complexant Properties of Lagochilin Derivatives

The ionophoric and complexant properties of synthetic derivatives of lagochilin, 3,18-O-isopropylidenelagochilin and 3,18-O-ethylidenelagochilin, were studied by BLM methods, conductometry, and IR spectroscopy. The ionophoric activity was found to be highly selective for divalent cations. Studies of the electrical conductivity of alkaline-earth metal salts in the presence of the lagochilin derivatives and analysis of their IR spectra have shown that they can form complexes with various ratios of metal ions.     

Energy dependence of multiplicity in proton-nucleus collisions and models of multiparticle production

This is a continuation of our earlier investigation (Gurtuet al 1974Phys. Lett. 50 B 391) on multiparticle production in proton-nucleus collisions based on an exposure of emulsion stack to 200 GeV/c beam at the NAL. It is found that the ratioR _em = 〈n _s〉/〈n _ch〉, where 〈n _ch〉 is the charged particle multiplicity in pp-collisions, increases slowly from about 1 at 10 GeV/c to 1·6 at 68 GeV/c and attains a constant value of 1·71 ± 0·04 in the region 200 to 8000 GeV/c. Furthermore,R _em = 1·71 implies an effectiveA-dependence ofR _A =A ^0.18,i.e., a very weak dependence. Predictions ofR _em on various models are discussed and compared with the emulsion data. Data seem to favour models of hadron-nucleon collisions in which production of particles takes place through adouble step mechanism,e.g., diffractive excitation, hydrodynamical and energy flux cascade as opposed to models which envisage instantaneous production.     

A study of the interaction of the cytotoxin of the venom of the Central Asian cobra with liposomes by the spin probe method

It has been shown by the spin probe method that the action of the cytotoxin of the venom of the central asian cobra on artifical liposomes extends at least to the depth of localization of the iminoxyl head of stearic acid spin-labeled at C-16. An efficient procedure for the synthesis of Esomeprazole using a titanium complex with two chiral ligands

A procedure has been proposed for the selective preparation of Esomeprazole via asymmetric oxidation of the corresponding prochiral sulfide in the presence of a catalytic complex derived from titanium(IV) isopropoxide and two different chiral ligands, diethyl d-tartrate and (R)-N,N-dimethyl-1-phenyl-ethanamine.     

Membrane-active properties and antiradical activity of gossypol and its derivatives

A novel asymmetric gossypol derivative was synthesized. The antioxidant activity of gossypol and certain of its derivatives at the aldehyde groups and the interaction of these compounds with model membranes were studied. It was shown that the antiradical and membrane activities of the gossypol derivatives were determined by the structure of the substituent and that gossypol and its derivatives were partially localized in the lipid bilayer and possibly induced formation of a new interdigitating phase.
