Magnetohydrodynamic thermochemotherapy and MRI of mouse tumors

A dextran-ferrite magnetic fluid was successfully tested as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) contrast agent. The same magnetic fluid was then combined with Melphalan, a chemotherapeutic drug, and used for magnetohydrodynamic thermochemotherapy of different tumors. The placement of the tumors in an AC magnetic field led to hyperthermia at 46 °C for 30 min. In combination with tumor slime aspiration, a 30% regression of ∼130 mm³ non-metastatic P388 tumors in BDF₁ mice was reached, together with a life span increase of 290%. The same procedure associated with cyclophosphamide treatment of ∼500 mm³ metastases tumor increased the animal's life span by 180%.     

μSR study of the superconducting state Nb3Al

By means of the uSR method, the critical temperature T_k=(17.41 0.05) K and the inhomogenety of the internal magnetic field in Nb₃Al in the mixed state for two values of external magnetic fields H=62 Oe and H=285 Oe over the temperature range 9–17 K were measured.     

Identification of Spillages of Semi-Volatile Hydrocarbon Fuels in Soils by Gas Chromatography–Mass Spectrometry

A possibility of the identification of semi-volatile hydrocarbon fuels in soil samples by studying the distribution of biomarkers of the sesquiterpane class is shown. The extraction of a soil sample with methylene chloride and the subsequent analysis of the extract by gas chromatography–mass spectrometry ensured the detection of these hydrocarbons in RG-1 and T-1 rocket kerosenes, TS-1 aviation kerosene, and diesel fuel. It was found that the distribution of the compounds found is characteristic for each type of fuel and is preserved in their transformations in the soil. The parameters reflecting the distribution of biomarkers and ensuring the identification of the type of fuel at any stage of transformation are proposed.     

New Heterocycles with a 3-Aminofurazanyl Substituent

New 3-aminofurazans containing 1,2,4- and 1,3,4-oxadiazole, pyridine, and 1,2,4-triazole substituents in the 4-position were synthesized.     

Use of Ionenes as Capillary Modifiers in the Simultaneous Determination of Azide, Chlorate, and Perchlorate Ions by Capillary Electrophoresis

It was demonstrated that Cl^–, SO₄ ^2-, NO₃ ^-, N₃ ^-, ClO₃ ^–, and ClO₄ ^– ions can be simultaneously and selectively determined by capillary electrophoresis using 2,4-ionene as a capillary modifier. The effect of n-butanol additives to the buffer electrolyte on the migration times of ions was shown. The optimum buffer electrolyte contained 0.5 mM Na₂CrO₄, 0.05% 2,4-ionene, 10%n-butanol, and 7% methanol. It was shown that azide can be identified in wash solutions obtained at the place of lead azide explosion. The detection limit for azide was 1–3 mg/L.     

Separation and enantioseparation of derivatized amino acids and biogenic amines by high-performance liquid chromatography with reversed and chiral stationary phases

A lignosulfonate sample was fractionated according to the solubility in ethanol-water. The fractions were analysed by aqueous size exclusion chromatography (SEC) combined with in-line multi-angle laser light scattering (MALLS), and by static MALLS. Satisfactory SEC results were obtained with aqueous phosphate buffer containing DMSO and SDS. The refractive index increment (dn/dc) varied from 0.186 to 0.205 ml/g, depending on Mw and the degree of sulfonation. The second viral coefficient (A2) was 7 x 10(-3) ml mol/g2. The weight-average molecular weight (Mw) of the fractions varied from 4600 up to 398 000 g/mol. and the polydispersity (Mw/Mn) varied between 1.3 and 3.5.     

Pair production of exotic particles at\mathop p\limits^{( - )} p colliding beams

A maximally complete set of differential cross section has been obtained in Born approximation for pair production of exotic particles with various spinsJ=0,1/2, 1 and quantum numbers (colored and colorless) both inq \(\bar q\) - andgg-collisions. For vector boson processes we systematically use the connection of the unitary of their interaction with gauge invariance, factorization properties of nonabelian gauge amplitudes and the presence of kinematic zeros. Besides, the problem of admissibility of massless limit for these processes is being discussed. The, yields of exotic particle pairs at \(\mathop p\limits^{( - )} \) p colliding beams in TeV energy range have been calculated and limits for the accessible mass range have been found.
