Understanding the fundamental relationship between the size and the structure of electrode materials is essential to design catalysts and enhance their activity. Therefore, spherical gold nanoparticles (GNSs) with a mean diameter from 4 to 15 nm were synthesized. UV/Vis spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and under‐potential deposition of lead (UPDPb) were used to determine the morphology, size, and surface crystallographic structure of the GNSs. The UPDPb revealed that their crystallographic facets are affected by their size and the growth process. The catalytic properties of these GNSs toward glucose electrooxidation were studied by cyclic voltammetry, taking into account the scan rate and temperature effects. The results clearly show the size‐dependent electrocatalytic activity for glucose oxidation reactions that are controlled by diffusion. Small GNSs with an average size of 4.2 nm exhibited high catalytic activity. This drastic increase in activity results from the high specific area and reactivity of the surface electrons induced by their small size. The reaction mechanism was investigated by in situ Fourier transform infrared reflectance spectroscopy. Gluconolactone and gluconate were identified as the intermediate and the final reaction product, respectively, of the glucose electrooxidation. 相似文献

The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of leaves extract of Schizocalyx cuspidatus (A. St.-Hil.) Kainul. & B. Bremer on hepatic morphofunctional dysfunction induced by carbon tetrachloride (CCl4). Liver lesions were induced via intraperitoneal administration of CCl4 every 48 h for 12 days. Forty-nine rats were randomised into seven groups: G1: CCl4; G2: CCl4 (animals euthanised 24 h after last CCl4 application); G3: CCl4 + DMSO; G4: SCE 400 mg/kg; G5: DMSO (700 μl); G6: CCl4 + SCE 200 mg/kg and G7: CCl4 + SCE 400 mg/kg. SCE administration resulted in reduction in hydroperoxide levels, lipidic droplets and necrosis compared to G1, G2 and G3. There was an increase in the amount of collagen fibres in G1, G2 and G3 compared to the groups. These results show that the extract of SCE leaves has great potential for the recovery of liver damage after the application of CCl4. 相似文献

Crude glycerol (CG), a by‐product from biodiesel production, is a carbon source with potential as feedstock for polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA) production. PHAs are biological macromolecules synthesized by microorganisms as intracellular carbon and energy storage granules. PHA production and its properties were investigated using Cupriavidus necator IPT 029 and Bacillus megaterium IPT 429 cultivated with CGs from different origins. The highest PHA extraction percentage (71.56% [w/v]) occurred when C. necator IPT 029 metabolized CG 3 (from the processing of biodiesel from castor bean oil). The gas chromatography–mass spectrometry analyses revealed novel PHA constituents as building blocks of medium (3‐hydroxytetradecanoate) and long (11‐hydroxyoctadecanoate) chains. Molar mass distribution revealed range of 121–6900 kDa. The initial degradation temperature ranged from 181.83 to 287.50°C and the crystallinity ranged from 35.30 to 66.70%. The results obtained indicate that C. necator IPT 029 from CG 3 could produce copolymers with industrially applicable thermophysical properties. Copyright © 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd. 相似文献

S. G. Georgiev, Complete orthogonal systems of monogenic polynomials over 3D prolate spheroids have recently experienced an upsurge of interest because of their many remarkable properties. These generalized polynomials and their applications to the theory of quasi‐conformal mappings and approximation theory have played a major role in this development. In particular, the underlying functions of three real variables take on values in the reduced quaternions (identified with ) and are generally assumed to be null‐solutions of the well‐known Riesz system in . The present paper introduces and explores a new complete orthogonal system of monogenic functions as solutions to this system for the space exterior of a 3D prolate spheroid. This will be made in the linear spaces of square integrable functions over . The representations of these functions are explicitly given. In recent years, a strong emphasis has been given in deciphering the function of genes unraveled by the completion of several genome sequencing projects. In plants, functional genomics has been massively used in order to search for gene products of agronomic relevance. As far as root-pathogen interactions are concerned, several genes are recognized to provide tolerance/resistance against potential invaders. However, very few proteins have been identified by using current proteomic approaches. One of the major drawbacks for the successful analysis of root proteomes is the inherent characteristics of this tissue, which include low volume content and high concentration of interfering substances such as pigments and phenolic compounds. The proteome analysis of plant-pathogen interactions provides important information about the global proteins expressed in roots in response to biotic stresses. Moreover, several pathogenic proteins superimpose the plant proteome and can be identified and used as targets for the control of viruses, bacteria, fungi and nematode pathogens. The present review focuses on advances in different proteomic strategies dedicated to the challenging analysis of plant defense proteins expressed during bacteria-, fungi- and nematode-root interactions. Recent developments, limitations of the current techniques, and technological perspectives for root proteomics aiming at the identification of resistance-related proteins are discussed. 相似文献

The aggregation behavior in aqueous solution of a number of ionic liquids was investigated at ambient conditions by using three techniques: fluorescence, interfacial tension, and (1)H NMR spectroscopy. For the first time, the fluorescence quenching effect has been used for the determination of critical micelle concentrations. This study focuses on the following ionic liquids: [Cnmpy]Cl (1-alkyl-3-methylpyridinium chlorides) with different linear alkyl chain lengths (n=4, 10, 12, 14, 16, or 18), [C12mpip]Br (1-dodecyl-1-methylpiperidinium bromide), [C12mpy]Br (1-dodecyl-3-methylpyridinium bromide), and [C12mpyrr]Br (1-dodecyl-1-methylpyrrolidinium bromide). Both the influence of the alkyl side-chain length and the type of ring in the cation (head) on the CMC were investigated. A comparison of the self-aggregation behavior of ionic liquids based on 1-alkyl-3-methylpyridinium and 1-alkyl-3-methylpyridinium cations is provided. It was observed that 1-alkyl-3-methylpyridinium ionic liquids could be used as quenchers for some fluorescence probes (fluorophores). As a consequence, a simple and convenient method to probe early evidence of aggregate formation was established. 相似文献

The reduction of sulfoxides to sulfides has also been performed by oxo-rhenium and -molybdenum complexes using hydrogen as a reducing agent. Microstructural morphology of the extracellular matrix guides the organization of cells in 3D. However, current biomaterials-based matrices cannot provide distinct spatial cues through their microstructural morphology due to design constraints. To address this, colloidal gels are developed as 3D matrices with distinct microstructure by aggregating ionic polyurethane colloids via electrostatic screening. Due to the defined orientation of interconnected particles, positively charged colloids form extended strands resulting in a dense microstructure whereas negatively charged colloids form compact aggregates with localized large voids. Chondrogenesis of human mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) and endothelial morphogenesis of human endothelial cells (ECs) are examined in these colloidal gels. MSCs show enhanced chondrogenic response in dense colloidal gel due to their spatial organization achieved by balancing the cell–cell and cell–matrix interactions compared to porous gels where cells are mainly clustered. ECs tend to form relatively elongated cellular networks in dense colloidal gel compared to porous gels. Additionally, the role of matrix stiffness and viscoelasticity in the morphogenesis of MSCs and ECs are analyzed with respect to microstructural morphology. Overall, these results demonstrate that colloidal gels can provide spatial cues through their microstructural morphology and in correlation with matrix mechanics for cell morphogenesis. 相似文献

The aim of this study is to prepare dissolvable biopolymeric microneedle (MN) patches composed solely of sodium carboxymethylcellulose (CMC), a water-soluble cellulose derivative with good film-forming ability, by micromolding technology for the transdermal delivery of diclofenac sodium salt (DCF). The MNs with ≈456 µm in height displayed adequate morphology, thermal stability up to 200 °C, and the required mechanical strength for skin insertion (>0.15 N needle−1). Experiments in ex vivo abdominal human skin demonstrate the insertion capability of the CMC_DCF MNs up to 401 µm in depth. The dissolution of the patches in saline buffer results in a maximum cumulative release of 98% of diclofenac after 40 min, and insertion in a skin simulant reveals that all MNs completely dissolve within 10 min. Moreover, the MN patches are noncytotoxic toward human keratinocytes. These results suggest that the MN patches produced with CMC are promising biopolymeric systems for the rapid administration of DCF in a minimally invasive manner. 相似文献
