The Thorpe-Ziegler reaction has been used in the preparation of enaminonitriles and cyclic ketones for many years. A wide variety of bases1 have been employed to acomplish this reaction, the most effective being the alkali metal salts of aralkyl amines. The synthesis and liquid crystalline properties of new series of 1,2,4‐ and 1,3,4‐oxadiazole derivatives (2a–f and 5a–f respectively) are reported. These compounds contain only one terminal flexible alkoxy chain, the other terminal substituent is a protecting benzyl group. All compounds of series 2 exhibit an enantiotropic nematic phase. The homologue with the longest chain (2f) displays an enantiotropic dimorphism smectic A– nematic. None of the compounds of series 5 shows mesomorphism and only crystal–isotropic transitions were observed. The liquid crystalline properties were investigated by differential scanning calorimetry, polarizing optical microscopy and X‐ray measurements. Luminescence properties, in chloroform solution, of 2f and the series 5 compounds were evaluated. Good photoluminescence quantum yields for compounds of series 5 were observed. Compound 2f, incorporating the 1,2,4‐oxadiazole ring shows a very strong reduction in emissive properties.  相似文献

Two new homologous series of chiral esters derived from Schiff's bases containing a 1,3,4‐thiadiazole unit (series 6 and 7) were synthesized and their liquid crystalline and ferroelectric properties investigated. All the compounds of series 6 exhibit SmC*–SmA dimorphism and the compounds of series 7 exhibit a SmC* phase. All the compounds of these series are ferroelectric liquid crystals.  相似文献

Novel liquid crystal materials base on amino-thiadiazoles, specifically 5-(3,4-di-, and/or 3,4,5-tri-n-alkoxy)phenyl-2-amino-1,3,4-thiadiazoles (3a–f, n?=?10, 12, 14) and 5-(3,4-di- and/or 3,4,5-tri-n-alkoxy)phenyl-2-(4-amino)phenyl-1,3,4-thiadiazoles (6a–f, n?=?10, 12, 14) were synthesised. The mesomorphic properties of these compounds were studied by differential scanning calorimetry and polarising optical microscopy. All the compounds in series 3a–f and series 6a–f display an enantiotropic columnar phase. The mesomorphic properties were found to be dependent on the number of the side alkoxy chains, and on the length of the rigid core, and on the position of the thiadiazole ring. The best results were obtained with compounds of series 3a–f.  相似文献

Gold nanoparticles functionalized with a triarylcarbinol derivative have been used as colorimetric molecular probes for the naked-eye detection of the nerve agent simulants DCNP and DFP. The detection process is based on the compensation of charges at the surface of the nanoparticles which triggers their aggregation in solution with the resulting change in their plasmon band.  相似文献

The Lamiaceae family is an important source of species among medicinal plants highly valued for their biological properties and numerous uses in folk medicine. Origanum is one of the main genera that belong to this family. The purpose of the study was to determine the phenolic composition of the Origanum vulgare extract and evaluate the antimicrobial, antioxidant, and inhibitory activities of this species that grows in the Andean region of the Atacama Desert. High-performance liquid chromatography was performed to determine the main phenols. Rosmarinic acid was identified as the predominant phenolic compound in this species (76.01 mg/100 g DW), followed by protocatechuic acid, which to our knowledge, no previous study reported similar concentrations in O. vulgare. The oregano extract exhibited a content of total phenolic (3948 mg GAE/100 g DW) and total flavonoid (593 mg QE/100 g DW) with a higher DPPH antioxidant activity (IC50 = 40.58 µg/mL), compared to the same species grown under other conditions. Furthermore, it was found to inhibit α-glucosidase activity with an IC50 value (7.11 mg/mL) lower than acarbose (129.32 mg/mL). Pseudomonas syringae and Pantoea agglomerans (both MIC 0.313 mg/mL and MBC 1.25 mg/mL) were the bacteria most susceptible to oregano extract with the lowest concentration necessary to inhibit bacterial growth. These results open the door for the potential use of this plant to manage chronic diseases, and they expand the knowledge of the species cultivated in arid environmental conditions.  相似文献

The asymmetric synthesis of tricyclic compounds by the desymmetrization of cyclohexadienones is presented. The reaction tolerated a large variety of substituents at different positions of the cyclohexadienone, and heterocyclic rings of different sizes were accessible. Density functional theory calculations showed that the reaction proceeds through an asynchronous [4+2] cycloaddition.  相似文献

In this paper we analyze the connections among different parametric settings in which the stability theory for linear inequality systems may be developed. Our discussion is focussed on the existence, or not, of an index set (possibly infinite). For some stability approaches it is not convenient to have a fixed set indexing the constraints. This is the case, for example, of discretization techniques viewed as approximation strategies (i.e., discretization regarded as data perturbation). The absence of a fixed index set is also a key point in the stability analysis of parametrized convex systems via standard linearization. In other frameworks the index set is very useful, for example if the constraints are perturbed one by one, even to measure the global perturbation size. This paper shows to what extent an index set may be introduced or removed in relation to stability.  相似文献

Novel chiral amides (Ia-Ie, II) and azo compounds (III, IV) with a 1,3,4-thiadiazole unit in the rigid core were synthesized and their liquid crystalline properties investigated by polarizing optical microscopy and differential scanning calorimetry. The amides Ia-Ie contain a chiral alkoxy chain derived from (R)-2-octanol and an achiral chain varying from 6 to 10 carbon atoms at the end of the rigid core. In amide II one of the terminal group is a chiral alkoxy chain derived from (S)-isoleucine and the other terminal substituent is an achiral n-decyloxy chain. Azo compounds III and IV contain an achiral n-decyloxy chain and a chiral alkoxy chain derived from (R)-2-octanol and (S)-isoleucine, respectively, at the end of the rigid core. The first homologue in the series of amides (Ia) exhibits enantiotropic smectic X (SmX)-chiral nematic (N*) dimorphism and the homologues Ib-Ie display enantiotropic SmX-chiral smectic C (SmC*)-N* mesomorphism. Amide II displays an enantiotropic smectic A phase. The azo compounds III and IV do not show smectic order and only an enantiotropic N* phase was observed. Thus, the mesomorphic behaviour depends on the nature of the central linkage and on the nature of the chiral alkoxy chain.  相似文献
