Box-threshold graphs

A graph is called box-threshold when all pairs of vertices with incomparable neighborhoods have the same degree. Several properties of box-threshold graphs, generalizing properties of threshold graphs, are proved. A transportation model with priority constraints is used to characterize their degree sequences. Further characterizations are given using the concept of the frame of a graph.     

Continuum contribution to polarizabilities and scaling

The role of the continuum, so important in ground-state properties, is known to be less important and may even be negligible in the computation of polarizabilities and other higher negative moments of the oscillator strength distribution. This can be rationalized in terms of the solutions of the inhomogeneous equation generating the moments as an alternative to the dominating first term in an eigenfunction expansion. This leads in a natural form to the approximation F?₀(1 + w(r)) for the perturbed wave function where 1 + w(r) represents a nonuniform scaling of the unperturbed function ?₀.     

The mechanism of enzymatic and biomimetic oxidations of aromatic sulfides and sulfoxides

Biomimetic and enzymatic oxidations of benzyl sulfides and sulfoxides lead to products (sulfoxides or sulfones) different from those obtained with bona fide electron transfer oxidations (products of C---H and/or C---S bond cleavage), which suggests the operation of an oxygen transfer mechanism.     

Info-quantifiers’ map-characterization revisited

We highlight the potentiality of a special Information Theory (IT) approach in order to unravel the intricacies of nonlinear dynamics, the methodology being illustrated with reference to the logistic map. A rather surprising dynamic feature→plane-topography map becomes available.     

Comparative study of the p+ layer created in CdTe films by nitric-phosphoric etching and chemical-deposition methods

The physical properties of the etched CdTe surfaces obtained during the process of formation of a p+ region on CdTe surface films using (i) a nitric/phosphoric acid mixture and (ii) a chemical Te-deposition method involving thermal annealing have been compared in this study. This study suggests the chemical-deposition method as an alternative to the chemical-etching methods for use in back-contact technology to increase the efficiency of CdTe solar cells.     

Rates of C-S bond cleavage in tert-alkyl phenyl sulfide radical cations

[reaction: see text] Radical cations of tert-alkyl phenyl sulfides 1-4 have been generated photochemically in MeCN in the presence of the N-methoxyphenanthridinium cation (MeOP(+)), and the rates of C-S bond cleavage have been determined by laser flash photolysis.     

Surfaces in {\mathbb{R}^4} with constant principal angles with respect to a plane

We study surfaces in ${\mathbb{R}^4}$ whose tangent spaces have constant principal angles with respect to a plane. Using a PDE we prove the existence of surfaces with arbitrary constant principal angles. The existence of such surfaces turns out to be equivalent to the existence of a special local symplectomorphism of ${\mathbb{R}^2}$ . We classify all surfaces with one principal angle equal to 0 and observe that they can be constructed as the union of normal holonomy tubes. We also classify the complete constant angles surfaces in ${\mathbb{R}^4}$ with respect to a plane. They turn out to be extrinsic products. We characterize which surfaces with constant principal angles are compositions in the sense of Dajczer-Do Carmo. Finally, we classify surfaces with constant principal angles contained in a sphere and those with parallel mean curvature vector field.
