The mineralized structure of aligned collagen fibrils in a tilapia fish scale was investigated using transmission electron microscopy (TEM) techniques after a thin sample was prepared using aqueous techniques. Electron diffraction and electron energy loss spectroscopy data indicated that a mineralized internal layer consisting of aligned collagen fibrils contains hydroxyapatite crystals. Bright-field imaging, dark-field imaging, and energy-filtered TEM showed that the hydroxyapatite was mainly distributed in the hole zones of the aligned collagen fibrils structure, while needle-like materials composed of calcium compounds including hydroxyapatite existed in the mineralized internal layer. Dark-field imaging and three-dimensional observation using electron tomography revealed that hydroxyapatite and needle-like materials were mainly found in the matrix between the collagen fibrils. It was observed that hydroxyapatite and needle-like materials were preferentially distributed on the surface of the hole zones in the aligned collagen fibrils structure and in the matrix between the collagen fibrils in the mineralized internal layer of the scale.  相似文献

Fuel cells with a PtAu/C anode and a Pr-doped Mn(2)O(3)/C cathode were stacked without using a bipolar plate, and their discharge properties were investigated in a methanol aqueous solution bubbled with air. A three-cell stack exhibited a stack voltage of 2330 mV and a power output of 21 mW.  相似文献

Various biaryl methanols were electrooxidized into the corresponding biaryl ketones in good yields and under very mild reaction conditions. Because of the relatively high oxidation potential, bulky structure, and somewhat poor solubility, biaryl methanols do not readily undergo direct electrooxidative transformations as a synthetic step toward the corresponding biaryl ketones. Herein, we report the successful indirect electrooxidation of secondary biaryl methanols featuring the use of a slight excess amount of KI (1.2 equivalents, relative to the substrate) in MeOH.   相似文献

Shear-induced thickening/thinning phenomena of aqueous rodlike micellar solutions of cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) and sodium p-toluene sulfonate (NapTS) were investigated by means of simultaneous measurements of rheology and small-angle neutron scattering (SANS), the so-called Rheo-SANS. The aqueous CTAB/NapTS solutions were classified into five different categories dependent on their flow behavior and micellar structure. By increasing salt concentration and/or shear rates, the micelles underwent morphological transition from (i) spherical or short rodlike micelles to (ii) long rodlike micelles without entanglements, followed by (iii) those with entanglements. These transitions were recognized as changes in flow behavior from Newtonian to shear-thickening and shear-thinning flow, respectively. In the latter two cases, anisotropic SANS patterns appeared around these critical shear rates. The physical meaning of the anisotropic SANS patterns accompanied by shear-thickening flow behavior is discussed in conjunction with other shear-thickening systems.  相似文献

The reaction of silylcyclopropyl bromides with dichloromethyl methyl ether in the presence of n-butyllithium is investigated. Under basic reaction conditions, the corresponding cyclopropylidene derivatives are exclusively obtained. The resulting cyclopropylidene compounds are subjected to protonolysis or trapping with electrophiles in a one-pot to give the cyclopropyl silyl ketone derivatives in good yields. Acidic treatment of derived cyclopropyl silyl ketone allows isomerization to give the thermodynamically favorable trans form exclusively.  相似文献

The read/write characteristics of non-patterned media (NPM), discrete track media (DTM), and bit patterned media (BPM) are examined by modeling the magnetization distribution of NPM and patterning fluctuation of DTM. By comparing spin-stand measurement with calculation, the magnetization distribution of NPM was well characterized with a new Voronoi cell magnetic cluster model, in which the cluster size at the track edge, 〈Dedge〉, was larger than that at the track center, 〈Dcenter〉 by a factor of two. Based on an analysis of patterning fluctuations seen in SEM images of DTM, line-edge roughness (LER) was modeled as a long-wavelength center-line roughness (CLR) plus a short-wavelength line-width roughness (LWR). It was confirmed that the standard deviation of the patterning fluctuation was much smaller than that of the magnetic fluctuation for NPM. This allowed DTM to achieve higher off-track performance than NPM. By examining the 747 curves, it was revealed that DTM could have an advantage in track-density of up to approximately 25% assuming patterning fluctuations can be well controlled at high track density. In BPM, fabricating accurate dots is essential. The relationship between dot defect rate and patterning fluctuation was examined, and the maximum allowable standard deviation of LER was derived as 2 nm for achieving 1 Tbspi.  相似文献

The effects of various substrate conditions on the morphology, crystal structure and photoluminescence of ZnO nanostructures synthesized by nanoparticle-assisted pulsed-laser ablation deposition were investigated. It is concluded that the sapphire substrate with a 1 h anneal at 1000 °C is the most favorable to the vertical growth of ZnO nanostructures. SEM analysis indicates that the well-aligned diameter-modulated ZnO nanonails with unique shape were successfully synthesized on the annealed sapphire substrate. The as-synthesized ZnO nanostructures exhibit an ultraviolet emission at around 390 nm and the absent green emission under room temperature, indicating that there is a very low concentration of deep-level defects inside ZnO lattices. The novel ZnO nanostructures could offer novel opportunities for both fundamental research and technological applications.  相似文献

X‐ray free‐electron laser (XFEL) pulses from SPring‐8 Ångstrom Compact free‐electron LAser (SACLA) with a temporal duration of <10 fs have provided a variety of benefits in scientific research. In a previous study, an arrival‐timing monitor was developed to improve the temporal resolution in pump–probe experiments at beamline 3 by rearranging data in the order of the arrival‐timing jitter between the XFEL and the synchronized optical laser pulses. This paper presents Timing Monitor Analyzer (TMA), a software package by which users can conveniently obtain arrival‐timing data in the analysis environment at SACLA. The package is composed of offline tools that pull stored data from cache storage, and online tools that pull data from a data‐handling server in semi‐real time during beam time. Users can select the most suitable tool for their purpose, and share the results through a network connection between the offline and online analysis environments.  相似文献

The drawing behavior of the ultra‐high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMW‐PE) melts has been studied by comparing the stress/strain curves for two types of samples as polymerized using conventional Ziegler and newer metallocene catalyst systems. Two UHMW‐PE samples, having the same viscosity average molecular weight of 3.3 × 106, but different molecular weight distribution, have been drawn from melt at special conditions. The sample films for drawing were prepared by compression molding of reactor powders at 180°C in the melt. Differences in the structural changes during drawing and resultant properties, ascribable to their broad or narrow molecular weight distribution, were estimated from tensile tests, SEM observations, X‐ray measurements and thermal analyses. The metallocene‐catalyzed sample having narrower molecular weight distribution, could be effectively drawn from the melt up to a maximum draw ratio (DR) of 20, significantly lower than that obtained for the Ziegler‐catalyzed sample, ∼ 50. The stress/strain curves on drawing were remarkably influenced by draw conditions, including draw temperature and rate. However, the most effective draw for both was achieved at 150°C and a strain rate of 5 min−1, independent of sample molecular weight distribution. The efficiency of drawing, as evaluated by the resultant tensile properties as a function of DR, was higher for the metallocene‐catalyzed sample having narrower molecular weight distribution. Nevertheless, the maximum achieved tensile modulus and strength for the Ziegler sample, 50–55 and 0.90 GPa, respectively, were significantly higher than those for the metallocene sample, 20 and 0.65 GPa, respectively, reflecting the markedly higher drawability for the former than the latter. The stress/strain behavior indicated that the origin of differences during drawing from the melt could be attributed to the ease of chain relaxation for the lower molecular weight chains in the melt. © 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
