Radical Products in the Chemical Oxidationof Amines. An ESR Study of Secondary CationRadicals from Aniline and Derivatives of 1,2-Phenylenediamine

Summary.  The oxidation of aniline and some derivatives of 1,2-phenylenediamine was performed by the system Pb(CH₃COO)₄—CF₃COOH—CH₂Cl₂. An ESR investigation of the oxidized aniline confirmed the presence of secondary cation radical. Its structure was determined by comparison of its ESR spectrum with those of cation radicals prepared from derivatives of 1,4-phenylenediamine. The oxidation of 1,2-phenylenediamine and its derivatives leads to the formation of either primary or secondary cation radicals, the latter having the character of substituted dihydrophenazinium cation radicals. Lifetimes in the ground-state band and the structure of 118Te

Lifetimes of excited states in ¹¹⁸Te have been measured using the Doppler Shift Attenuation (DSA) and Recoil Distance (RD) methods in the ¹⁰⁹Ag(¹³C, p3n) reaction at a beam energy of 54 MeV. Lifetime values of the ground-state band levels with spins I ^π = 2⁺-16⁺ have been obtained. The excitation energies and B(E2) values are interpreted in the framework of a version of IBFM ( IBM + 2qp) with the maximum boson number exceeding its standard value. A satisfactory agreement with experimental level scheme and B(E2) values for the ground-state band is achieved. Received: 7 June 2001 / Accepted: 7 February 2002     

Green's contact functions for heat conduction of two half-spaces and half-planes with application to several boundary contact problems

Green's contact functions are constructed for two half-spaces and two half-planes for materials with different thermal conductivities. With the aid of these contact functions some bimetal problems are reduced to boundary integral equations along the outer boundary where only the boundary conditions are to be satisfied. The boundary integral operators are investigated in the plane case. They are Fredholm operators with index zero. The asymptotics of the density of the potentials, which depends on the material parameters and on the angles between the contact line and the outer boundary, is determined by the Mellin transform technique.
