Heavy Tails in Multi-Server Queue

In this paper, the asymptotic behaviour of the distribution tail of the stationary waiting time W in the GI/GI/2 FCFS queue is studied. Under subexponential-type assumptions on the service time distribution, bounds and sharp asymptotics are given for the probability P{W > x}. We also get asymptotics for the distribution tail of a stationary two-dimensional workload vector and of a stationary queue length. These asymptotics depend heavily on the traffic load. The IR absorption spectrum of 2 - aminothiazolid - 4 - one

A mechanical model has been used to calculate the frequencies in the vibrational spectrum of the imine and amine tautomeric structures for this compound; the IR spectrum for the crystalline state has been deduced for the range 80–3500 cm^–1, and a discussion is given for the effect of the tautomeric prototropic forms on the vibrational spectrum.Translated from Izvestiya Vysshikh Uchebnykh Zavedenii Fizika, No. 9, pp. 76–82, September, 1971.     

Alcaloides steroidiques—LII Alcaloides du buxus balearica Willd.: Cycloprotobuxine-D, buxamine-E, buxaminol-E, N-isobutyryl-baleabuxidine-F, N-benzoyl-baleabuxidine-F, baleabuxoxazine-C, N-isobutyryl-baleabuxidienine-F, N-benzoyl-baleabuxidienine-F, N-isobutyryl-baleabuxaline-F

The following alkaloides have been extracted from the leaves of Buxus balearica Willd.: cyclomicrophylline-B, cycloprotobuxines A, C and D, baleabuxine (N-isobutyryl-baleabuxine-F), buxamine-E and buxaminol-E (already reported), N-isobutyryl- and N-benzoyl-baleabuxidine-F, baleabuxoxazine-C, N-isobutyryl- and N-benzoyl-baleabuxidienine-F, N-isobutyryl-baleabuxaline-F, the structures of which are proposed. The stereochemistry of baleabuxidines and baleabuxoxazines is established on the base of chemical correlations between these two groups and cyclomicrophyllines.     

Reaction of 1-Phenyl-3-(2′-furyl) propynone with morpholine

The kinetics of the reaction of furoylphenylacetylene with morpholine in alcohol at 20–50°C were studied by means of polarography.     

Electrolytic processes in various degrees of dispersion

While following voltammetric behavior of ultrafine metallic powders, we realized that the results obtained with six metals (Al, Fe, Ni, Cu, Mo, and W) were providing us with material for treating the connection between electroactivity and the state of dispersion of matter. The electroactive species were metallic oxides formed spontaneously on surfaces of the metallic powder particles, and we could follow their electrochemical reactivity in the states of coarse and fine suspensions, colloids, and true solutions. Each state of dispersion can be characterized by a distinctive form of electroactivity, which we illustrated by experimental results with all six metals.
