Influence of impurities on the metallization of inert gases at high pressures

It is shown that the introduction of heavy inert gas impurities into the condensed phase of a lighter inert gas can significantly change the kinetic properties of the latter at high pressures. The electronic structure of the ordered Ar₁₅Xe solid solution is calculated. Doping of the condensed phase of a light inert gas with atoms of a heavier inert gas may become a new convenient tool in high-pressure experiments.     

Analog of Kelvin-Helmholtz instability on a free surface of a superfluid liquid

We analyze the analog of the Kelvin-Helmholtz instability on the free surface of a superfluid liquid. This instability is induced by the relative motion of superfluid and normal components of the same liquid along the surface. The instability threshold is found to be independent of the value of viscosity, but turns out to be lower than in the absence of dissipation. The result is similar to that obtained for the interface between two sliding super-fluids (with different mechanisms of dissipation) and confirmed by the first experimental observation of the Kelvin-Helmholtz instability on the interface between ³He-A and ³He-B by Blaauwgeers et al. (cond-mat/0111343).     

A study of polarized low-frequency spectra of the solid solution of paradibromobenzene with parachloronitrobenzene in the α phase

Polarized spectra of low-frequency Raman scattering in solid solutions of paradibromobenzene with parachloronitrobenzene in the α phase are studied at temperatures of 293 and 77 K. The solid solution spectrum is found to be similar to the paradibromobenzene spectrum (in accordance with the X-ray diffraction data), but has a series of additional low-intensity lines resulting from disordering. As the parachloronitrobenzene concentration increases, frequencies of the solid solution orientation vibrations decrease steadily, and the half-widths grow. Frequency spectra of the mixed crystal are calculated by the Dean method.     

Metal complexes of 2-hetarylindandiones-1,3

The chelate and molecular complexes of 2-(2-benzazolyl, perimidyl)-indandiones-1,3 were synthesized for the first time. The structures of the ligands (tautomeric forms) and complex compounds were determined from the X-ray diffraction, ¹H, ¹³C NMR, and IR data and the quantum-chemical calculations (RHF SCF in 6-31 G** basis).     

Migration of molecules in p-bromochlorobenzene with vacancies in its structure

Based on polarization measurements of the low-frequency Raman spectra of p-bromochlorobenzene and calculations of the frequency spectra of lattice vibrations by the Dean method it is shown that the structure may contain vacancies. Their presence affects the appearance of additional lines in the low-frequency spectrum, particularly in the vicinity of 70 cm⁻¹, and their positions depend weakly on the orientational disorder of the molecules with respect to the para substituents. The activation energies for diffusion in a randomly disordered p-bromochlorobenzene crystal with vacancies in the structure is calculated from atom-atom potentials. It is shown that the value of the activation energy varies along a selected direction and depends on the arrangement of the p-bromochlorobenzene molecules with respect to the para substituents, in contrast to the results for ordered p-dibromobenzene and p-dichlorobenzene. Condensed systems based on 4-amino-3-mercapto-1,2,4-triazole

1,2,4-Triazolo[3,4-b]-1,3,4-thiadiazines, hydrazones, and -thio adducts were obtained by reactions of 4-amino-3-mercapto-1,2,4-triazole with -bromoacetophenones, aldehydes, and ,-unsaturated ketones. Conditions that promote the cyclocondensation of the -thio adducts to the previously undescribed 1,2,4-triazolo[3,4-b]-1,3,4-thiadiazepines were found. Synthèse du mèthyl-1 diformyl-2,3 pyrrole,de la méthyl-1 pyrrolo[2,3-d] pyridazine et de la méthyl-1 oxo-6 (6h)cycloheptatrieno[b] pyrrole

This communication describes the synthesis of l-methyl-2,3-diformylpyrrole. This new compound is used to prepare a new heterocycle, l-methylcyclohepta[b]pyrrol-6-one and thus allows a new synthesis of l-methylpyrrolo[2,3-d]pyridazine.
