Seven amphiphilic conetworks of methacrylic acid (MAA) and a new hydrophobic monomer, 2-butyl-1-octyl-methacrylate (BOMA), were synthesized using group transfer polymerization. The MAA units were introduced via the polymerization of tetrahydropyranyl methacrylate (THPMA) followed by the removal of the protecting tetrahydropyranyl group by acid hydrolysis after network formation. Both THPMA and BOMA were in-house synthesized. Ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA) was used as the cross-linker. Six of the conetworks were model conetworks, containing copolymer chains between cross-links of precise molecular weight and composition. The prepared conetwork series covered a wide range of compositions and architectures. In particular, the MAA content was varied from 67 to 94 mol %, and three different conetwork architectures were constructed: ABA triblock copolymer-based, statistical copolymer-based, and randomly cross-linked. The linear conetwork precursors were analyzed by gel permeation chromatography and 1H NMR spectroscopy in terms of their molecular weight and composition, both of which were found to be close to the theoretically calculated values. The degrees of swelling (DS) of all the amphiphilic conetworks were measured in water and in THF over the whole range of ionization of the MAA units. The DSs in water increased with the degree of ionization (DI) and the content of the hydrophilic MAA units in the conetwork, while the DSs in THF increased with the degree of polymerization of the chains between the cross-links and by reducing the DI of the MAA units. Finally, the nanophase behavior of the conetworks was probed using small-angle neutron scattering and atomic force microscopy.  相似文献

N‐Dealkylation methods are well described for organic chemistry and the reaction is known in nature and drug metabolism; however, to our knowledge, enantioselective N‐dealkylation has not been yet reported. In this study, exclusively the (S)‐enantiomers of racemic N‐ethyl tertiary amines (1‐benzyl‐N‐ethyl‐1,2,3,4‐tetrahydroisoquinolines) were dealkylated to give the corresponding secondary (S)‐amines in an enantioselective fashion at the expense of molecular oxygen. The reaction is catalyzed by the berberine bridge enzyme, which is known for C? C bond formation. The dealkylation was demonstrated on a 100 mg scale and gave optically pure dealkylated products (ee>99 %).  相似文献

In contrast to all known shape memory polymers, the melting temperature of crystals in shape memory natural rubber (SMNR) can be greatly manipulated by the application of external mechanical stress. As shown previously, stress perpendicular to the prior programming direction decreases the melting temperature by up to 40 K. In this study, we investigated the influence of mechanical stress parallel to prior stretching direction during programming on the stability of the elongation‐stabilizing crystals. It was found that parallel stress stabilizes the crystals, which is indicated by linear increase of the trigger temperature by up to 17 K. The crystal melting temperature can be increased up to 126.5 °C under constrained conditions as shown by X‐ray diffraction measurements.  相似文献

Multicompartmental microcylinders can be produced by a combination of electrohydrodynamic co‐spinning and microsectioning, as described by J. Lahann et al. in their Communication on page 4589 ff. The number of individual compartments, relative compartment orientation, chemical composition and functionality, and aspect ratio can be precisely tuned. Each color in the longitudinal and cross‐sectional micrograph images depicts an individual compartment.

This paper deals with the preconditioning of the curl-curl operator. We use H(curl)- conforming finite elements for the discretization of our corresponding magnetostatic model problem. Jumps in the material parameters influence the condition of the problem. We will demonstrate by theoretical estimates and numerical experiments that hierarchical matrices are well suited to construct efficient parallel preconditioners for the fast and robust iterative solution of such problems.  相似文献

Analysis of the high resolution structure of the small subunit from Thermus thermophilus shed light on its inherent conformational variability and indicated an interconnected network of features allowing concerted movements during translocation. It also showed that conformational rearrangements may be involved in subunit association and that a latch-like movement guarantees processivity and ensures maximized fidelity. Conformational mobility is associated with the binding and the anti association function of initiation factor 3, and antibiotics interfering with prevent the initiation of the biosynthetic process. Proteins stabilize the structure mainly by their long basic extensions that penetrate into the ribosomal RNA. When pointing into the solution, these extensions may have functional roles in binding of non-ribosomal factors participating in the process of protein biosynthesis. In addition, although the decoding center is formed of RNA, proteins seem to serve ancillary functions such as stabilizing ist required conformation and assisting the directionality of the translocation.  相似文献
