A systematic study was performed to control the geometrical anisotropy of GaSb(As)/GaAs quantum dot structures formed by the Stranski–Krastanov growth mode of molecular beam epitaxy. In particular, effects of both the Sb4 beam flux and the As4 background pressure on the geometrical anisotropy were clarified and elongated QDs with lateral aspect ratio greater than 3 were successfully formed. Under a low As4 background pressure, As4 is found to act as surfactant to influence the adatom diffusion and change the density of QDs. By contrast, under high As4 background pressure, the intermixing of As and Sb takes place and reduces strains induced by the lattice mismatch. 相似文献

The thermal decomposition of propane was studied behind reflected shock waves over the temperature range 1100–1450 K and the pressure range 1.5–2.6 atm, by both monitoring the time variations of absorption at 3.39 μm and analyzing the concentrations of the reacted gas mixtures. The rate constants of the elementary reactions were discussed from the results. A novel donor–acceptor type conjugated polymer based on PPE with [2.2]paracyclophane and benzothiadiazole units in the main chain was synthesized by the Sonogashira coupling reaction. The obtained polymer was quite soluble in common organic solvents, and the transparent and uniform thin film of the polymer was obtained easily by casting or spin‐coating from a toluene solution. The polymer showed an extension of π‐delocalization via the through‐space with π‐π stacking according to the UV–visible (UV–vis) absorption spectra in comparison with that of the model compound. The polymer exhibited orange photoluminescence in solution (fluorescence quantum efficiency = 0.13) and in the solid state. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A portable colorimeter using a red-green-blue light-emitting diode as a light source has been developed. An embedded controller sequentially turns emitters on and off, and acquires the signals detected by two photo diodes synchronized with their blinking. The controller calculates the absorbance and displays it on a liquid-crystal display. The whole system, including a 006P dry cell, is contained in a 100 x 70 x 50 mm aluminum case and its mass is 280 g. The prototype for a ground speed sensor has been designed, fabricated and evaluated. It works on the principle of optical spatial filtering and uses pulse driven light emitting diodes as a source of illumination. The sensor was tested at speeds ranging from 2 to 50 km/h, and an accuracy of 1.5 km/h was obtained with response time of 30 ms, height from ground of from 230 to 370 mm and on various road surfaces. Most lenses composed of spherical or aspherical surfaces have symmetrical focusing properties about an optical axis. On the other hand, unconventional optical systems such as cylindrical lenses, astigmatic or progressive power glasses have axially asymmetrical focusing properties. In this study, the method of measuring focusing properties by the moire technique is extended to asymmetrical lenses. Thermal decomposition of formaldehyde diluted with Ar was studied behind reflected shock waves in the temperature range of 1200–2000 K at total pressures between 1.3 and 3.0 atm. The study was carried out for compositions from the concentrated mixture, 4% CH2O, to the highly dilute mixture, 0.01% CH2O by using time-resolve IR-laser absorption and IR-emission, and a single-pulse technique. From a computer-simulation study, the mechanism and the rate-constant expressions that could explain all of our data and previously reported ARAS data were discussed. In order to observe the propagation of a conducting zone of a polyaniline film in response to anodic switching, propagation perpendicular to the film surface was simulated by propagation along the film by mounting the film on an insulated plate. A polyaniline film electrochemically deposited on an indium tin oxide (ITO) electrode was reinforced by casting polymethylmethacrylate solution on the film. It was peeled off the ITO, chemically reduced and then potentiostatically oxidized at one end in 1 mol dm−3 H2SO4 solution. Dynamic growth of the conducting zone was observed through an optical microscope. A well-defined boundary between the conducting zone and the insulating zone was seen. The contrast of the boundary did not vary with the electrolysis time, the growth length or the applied potential. The growth rate decreased slightly with the electrolysis time as a result of IR drop across the film. A differential equation for growth rate involving the effect of the IR drop was presented and solved to give more accurate values of the rate. The logarithmic growth ratio exhibited a linear relation with the applied potential, indicating a charge-transfer rate of the Tafel type. The anodic transfer coefficient was 0.2 and the rate constant was 5 × 10−5 m s−1. The propagation on a molecular scale was discussed on the basis of the experimental results. 相似文献
