There is an increasing amount of literature concerning electronic properties of graphene close to the neutrality point. Many experiments continue using the two-probe geometry or invasive contacts or do not control samples’ macroscopic homogeneity. We believe that it is helpful to point out some problems related to such measurements. By using experimental examples, we illustrate that the charge inhomogeneity induced by spurious chemical doping or metal contacts can lead to large systematic errors in assessing graphene’s transport properties and, in particular, its minimal conductivity. The problems are most severe in the case of two-probe measurements where the contact resistance is found to strongly vary as a function of gate voltage. 相似文献

The type and degree of imperfection for opal-like photonic crystals on conducting substrates have been investigated using synchrotron small-angle X-ray scattering with a microradian resolution. It has been demonstrated that self-assembly of poly(styrene) spheres by the vertical deposition method leads to the formation of a face-centered cubic structure on a mica/Au substrate and a random hexagonal close packing on a glass substrate with the In2O3(SnO2) conducting coating. 相似文献

This paper studies the sales of a single indivisible object where bidders have continuous valuations. In Grigorieva et al. [14] it was shown that, in this setting, query auctions necessarily allocate inefficiently in equilibrium. In this paper we propose a new sequential auction, called the c-fraction auction. We show the existence of an ex-post equilibrium, called bluff equilibrium, in which bidders behave truthfully except for particular constellations of observed bids at which it is optimal to pretend a slightly higher valuation. We show c-fraction auctions guarantee approximate efficiency at any desired level of accuracy, independent of the number of bidders, when bidders choose to play the bluff equilibrium. We discuss the running time and the efficiency in the bluff equilibrium. We show that by changing the parameter c of the auction we can trade off efficiency against running time. 相似文献

Continuous and pulsed forms of control of a multistable system are compared directly, both theoretically and numerically, taking as an example the switching of a periodically driven class-B laser between its stable and unstable pulsing regimes. The structural and magnetic characteristics of two-dimensional spatially ordered arrays of magnetic nickel nanowires embedded
in the anodized alumina template have been investigated. It has been shown using small-angle polarized-neutron diffraction
that, there exists the samples under investigation, in a highly ordered hexagonal structure of pores and magnetic nanowires
separated by a characteristic distance d = 106 ± 2 nm. An analysis has been made of different contributions to neutron scattering, such as the nonmagnetic (nuclear)
contribution, the magnetic contribution dependent on the magnetic field, and the interference contribution indicating a correlation
between the magnetic and nuclear structures. The performed analysis of the results obtained has demonstrated that, when the
magnetic field is applied perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the nanowire in a completely magnetized sample, there

The magnetic properties of nanomaterials based on vanadium oxide (multiwall nanotubes, nanorods, and nanolayers) have been
investigated in the temperature range of 1.8–220 K by high-frequency (60-GHz) EPR. A transition from a ferromagnetic temperature
dependence to an antiferromagnetic temperature dependence has been observed in nanorods and nanotubes with a decrease in the
temperature. The FM-AFM crossover observed near T
C ∼ 110 K is accompanied by a low-temperature increase in the Curie constant by a factor of 2.7–7. The comparison of the experimental
data for various VO
x
nanoparticles indicates that the most probable cause of the change in the type of magnetic interaction is a change in the
