Hydrogen‐bonding interactions between bisphenol A (BPA) and two proton‐accepting polymers, poly(2‐vinylpyridine) (P2VPy) and poly(N‐vinyl‐2‐pyrrolidone) (PVP), were examined by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The Flory–Huggins interaction‐energy densities of BPA/P2VPy and BPA/PVP blends were determined by the melting point depression method. The interaction parameters for both BPA/P2VPy and BPA/PVP blend systems were negative, demonstrating the miscibility of BPA with P2VPy as well as PVP. The miscibility of ternary BPA/P2VPy/PVP blends was examined by DSC, optical observation, and solid‐state nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. The experimental phase behavior of the ternary blend system agreed with the spinodal phase‐separation boundary calculated using the determined interaction‐energy densities. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The usefulness of a C60‐fullerene modified gold (Au) electrode in mediating the oxidation of methionine in the presence of potassium ions electrolyte has been demonstrated. During cyclic voltammetry, an oxidation peak of methionine appearing at +1.0 V vs. Ag/AgCl was observed. The oxidation current of methionine is enhanced by about 2 times using a C60 modified gold electrode. The current enhancement is significantly dependent on pH, temperature and C60 dosage. Calibration plot reveals linearity of up to 0.1 mM with a current sensitivity of close to 50 mA L mol?1 and detection limit of 8.2×10?6 M. The variation of scan rate study shows that the system undergoes diffusion‐controlled process. Diffusion coefficient and rate constant of methionine were determined using hydrodynamic method (rotating disk electrode) with values of 1.11×10?5 cm2 s?1 and 0.0026 cm s?1 respectively for unmodified electrode while the values of diffusion coefficient and rate constant of methionine using C60 modified Au electrode are 5.7×10?6 cm2 s?1 and 0.0021 cm s?1 respectively. 相似文献

Highly selective enrichment of (6,5) and (8,3) SWCNTs (above 85% of the semiconducting tubes) was achieved through multistep extraction by sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) and sodium cholate (SC) cosurfactant solution from narrowly (n,m) distributed SWCNTs produced by the catalyst Co-MCM-41. A systematic change in the chirality selectivity was observed when the weight ratio between SDS and SC varied in cosurfactant solutions, with maximum enrichment selectivity for (6,5) tubes yielded at 1:4. Furthermore, surfactants were washed away easily to produce "clean" SWCNTs. This observation sheds light on the possibility of obtaining SWCNTs with the desired (n,m) structure via an easily scalable approach. No selectivity was detected when using sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate (SDBS)/SC cosurfactants, hence suggesting the need for further exploration of various cosurfactant combinations for more effective extraction of different (n,m) species. 相似文献

We design single-wall carbon nanotube (SWNT) thin-film saturable absorbers (SAs) integrated onto semiconductor distributed Bragg reflectors for mode-locking solid-state Er:Yb:glass lasers. We characterize the low nonsaturable loss, high-damage-threshold SWNT SAs and verify their operation up to a pulse fluence of 2 mJ/cm(2). We demonstrate passive fundamental continuous-wave mode locking with and without group-delay dispersion compensation. Without compensation the laser produces chirped 1.8 ps pulses with a spectral width of 3.8 nm. With compensation, we obtain 261 fs Fourier-transform-limited pulses with a spectral width of 9.6 nm. 相似文献

Polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs) have attracted the attention of academia and industry because of their plastic-like properties and biodegradability. However, practical applications as a commodity material have not materialized because of their high production cost and unsatisfactory mechanical properties. PHAs are also believed to have high-value applications as an absorbable biomaterial for tissue engineering and drug-delivery devices because of their biocompatibility. However, research in these areas is still in its very early stages. The main problem faced by proponents of PHAs is the lack of a niche area where PHAs will be the most desired material in terms of its function during use rather than because of its eco-friendly virtues after use. Here, we report on the oil-absorbing property of PHA films and its potential applications. By comparing with some of the existing commercial products, the potential application of PHAs as cosmetic oil-blotting films is revealed for the first time. Besides having the ability to rapidly absorb and retain oil, PHA films also have a natural oil-indicator property, showing obvious changes in opacity following oil absorption. Surface analysis revealed that the surface structures such as porosity and smoothness exert great influence on the rapid oil-absorption properties of the PHA films. Geoacoustic inversion estimates environmental parameters from measured acoustic fields (e.g., received on a towed array). The inversion results have some uncertainty due to noise in the data and modeling errors. Based on the posterior probability density of environmental parameters obtained from inversion, a statistical estimation of transmission loss (TL) can be performed and a credibility level envelope or uncertainty band for the TL generated. This uncertainty band accounts for the inherent variability of the environment not usually contained in sonar performance prediction model inputs. The approach follows [Gerstoft et al. IEEE J. Ocean. Eng. 31, 299-307 (2006)] and is demonstrated with data obtained from the MAPEX2000 experiment conducted by the NATO Undersea Research Center using a towed array and a moored source in the Mediterranean Sea in November 2000. The structures of a series of cyclohexadiene-maleic anhydride cycloadducts show structural parameters consistent with the early stages of the retro-Diels-Alder (rDA) reaction in the ground state structure. The symmetrical adduct shows effects consistent with a synchronous rDA reaction. An asynchronous rDA reaction is suggested in the structure of 8, and the first evidence suggesting a two-step retro-Diels-Alder mechanism is provided by the deoxygenated adduct 9. 相似文献

In certain signal processing problems, it is customary to estimate parameters in distorted signals by approximating what is termed a cross ambiguity function and estimating where it attains its maximum modulus. To unify and generalize these procedures, we consider a generalized form of the cross ambiguity function and give error bounds for estimating the parameters, showing that these bounds are lower if we maximize the real part rather than the modulus. We also reveal a connection between these bounds and certain uncertainty principles, which leads to a new type of uncertainty principle. 相似文献
