Photoelastic stress analysis using an object step-loading method   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
Sensitive, computer-aided retardation phase measurement methods suffer from the problem of discontinuity, which, in turn, hinders faultless phase unwrapping for stress determination in photoelasticity. An object step-loading method is introduced in this paper to overcome such a problem. One advantage of the technique is that the entire loading-to-stress history is computed. In this paper, the theoretical aspects related to implementation of the object step-loading method in computer-aided photoelasticity are outlined, and experimental verification is performed on a birefringent model subjected to compressive loading by comparing stress values with those computed using the theory of elasticity.  相似文献

A relatively general Lagrangian formulation for studying the nonlinear dynamics and control of space-craft with interconnected flexible members in a tree-type topology is developed. Versatility of the formulation is illustrated through a dynamical study of the Space Station based two-link Mobile Servicing System (MSS). The performance of the MSS undergoing inplane and out-of-plane slewing maneuvers is compared. Results indicate that, in absence of control, the maneuvers induce undesirable librational motion of the Space Station as well as vibration of the links. Nonlinear control, based on the Feedback Linearization Technique (FLT), appears promising. Quasi-Closed Loop Control (QCLC), a variation of the FLT, is applied to control the libration of the Space Station. Once the attitude of the Space Station is controlled, the performance of the MSS improves significantly. Zusammenfassung Mit Hilfe eines einfachen Dehnrheometers wurden Dehnfließversuche mit thermoplastischen Kautschukblends (Ibuflex-SEH und Santoprene) durchgeführt. Die auf diese Weise erhaltenen Dehnviskositätsdaten wurden mit den von kautschukmodifizierten Thermoplasten (PVC, PE und PS) verglichen. Nach der Anlaufphase zeigt Ibuflex-SEH ein stationäres Fließverhalten, während die Dehnviskosität von Santoprene als Funktion der Zeit monoton ansteigt, ohne einen stationären Zustand zu erreichen. Die Ursachen des Unterschieds im Fließverhalten der untersuchten Polymermaterialien wurden diskutiert.
Extensional flow experiments were carried out on a simple extensional rheometer with the thermoplastic elastomer blends: Ibuflex-SEH and Santoprene. The extensional viscosity data obtained were comparable with those of elastomer modified PVC, PE and PS. After the transient stage Ibuflex-SEH shows a steady-state flow behaviour, whereas the extensional viscosity of Santoprene as a function of time increases monotonically without reaching a stationary state. The causes for these differences were discussed.

Seven hole probe measurement of leading edge vortex flows   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
This paper discusses the use of a seven-hole probe on measurements of leading edge vortices of highly sweep delta wing planforms. Intrusive probe data taken with the pressure probe were compared with non-intrusive measurements made with laser Doppler anemometry system. In addition to probe size, the natural position of breakdown and the sweep angle of the wing are also factors in determining sensitivity of the flow to probe interference. At low angles of attack vortex breakdown does not occur in the vincinity of the model and the seven hole probe was found to yield reasonably accurate measurements. When the angle of attack of the model was increased so that vortex breakdown was near the trailing edge, introducing the probe over the wing would cause the breakdown position to move ahead of the probe. However, when breakdown naturally occurred ahead of the mid-chord of the wing the vortices were found to be less sensitive to a probe placed behind the breakdown point. Vortex breakdown on a lower swept wing is found to be more sensitive to interference. Near the breakdown region, seven hole probe measurement is less accurate due to a combination of probe interference and flow reversal.  相似文献

On swirl development in a square cross-sectioned, S-shaped duct   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
The flow in a uniform square cross-sectioned, S-shaped duct was investigated experimentally, at Reynolds number (Re) = 4.73 × 104 and 1.47 × 105, using three S-ducts of different curvature and turning angle. The hydraulic diameter (D) for each S-duct is 150 mm. Besides studying the square cross-sectioned S-duct flow at moderately higher Re than current literature, the S-ducts’ geometry used in this study also have larger curvatures and higher turning angles than those reported in the literature. With surface pressure measurement and smoke wire flow visualization, flow separation at the inside wall of the first bend was detected. Using surface oil flow visualization on the bottom wall of the S-duct and cross-wires measurement at the duct exit, it is shown here that the swirl developed in the first bend was partly attenuated in the second bend due to the formation of swirl of opposite direction. The swirl of an opposite sign results in the formation of a clear dividing or separation line on the bottom wall (and top wall) of the duct. Additional flow features include the formation of streamwise vortices on the outer-wall of the second bend. These streamwise vortices can either be a pair of counter-rotating vortices or a single vortex. The formation mechanism of these streamwise vortices is explained using the Squire and Winter [J Aeronaut Sci 18(4):271–277, 1951] formula and it is shown that the said mechanism is applicable to both Re in the present study.  相似文献

The thermal stability of nanocrystalline 3R-CuCrO2 obtaining by hydrothermal method was investigated by annealing treatment, XRD, FT-IR, XPS and TG. The three temperature domains corresponding to thermal stability of 3R-CuCrO2 nanocrystals (25–400 °C), destabilization of nanocrystalline 3R-CuCrO2 phase (400–800 °C) and recrystallization of 3R-CuCrO2 in microcrystalline state over 800 °C, were determined by the specific hydrothermal synthesis conditions. This study has indicated that nanocrystals with delafossite structure synthesized by hydrothermal method exhibit nanocrystalline state up to a reasonably high temperature, about 390 °C, which could be interesting for technical applications and the classical theory of the grain growth.  相似文献

Vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) laser pulsed field ionization-photoelectron (PFI-PE) spectroscopy has been applied to the study of the sulfur monoxide radical (SO) prepared by using a supersonically cooled radical beam source based on the 193 nm excimer laser photodissociation of SO(2). The vibronic VUV-PFI-PE bands for the photoionization transitions SO(+)(X(2)Π(1∕2); v(+) = 0) ← SO(X(3)Σ(-); v = 0); and SO(+)((2)Π(3∕2); v(+) = 0) ← SO(X(3)Σ(-); v = 0) have been recorded. On the basis of the semiempirical simulation of rotational branch contours observed in these PFI-PE bands, we have obtained highly precise ionization energies (IEs) of 83,034.2 ± 1.7 cm(-1) (10.2949 ± 0.0002 eV) and 83,400.4 ± 1.7 cm(-1) (10.3403 ± 0.0002 eV) for the formation of SO(+)(X(2)Π(1∕2); v(+) = 0) and SO(+)((2)Π(3∕2); v(+) = 0), respectively. The present VUV-PFI-PE measurement has enabled the direct determination of the spin-orbit coupling constant (A(0)) for SO(+)(X(2)Π(1∕2,3∕2)) to be 365.36 ± 0.12 cm(-1). We have also performed high-level ab initio quantum chemical calculations at the coupled-cluster level up to full quadruple excitations and complete basis set (CBS) extrapolation. The zero-point vibrational energy correction, the core-valence electronic correction, the spin-orbit coupling, and the high-level correction are included in the calculation. The IE[SO(+)(X(2)Π(1∕2,3∕2))] and A(0) predictions thus obtained are found to be in remarkable agreement with the experimental determinations.  相似文献

The effects of argon (Ar) and a mixture of Ar and oxgyen(Ar/O2) plasmas on amorphous and semi‐crystalline poly(bisphenol A hexane ether) thin films were investigated by time‐of‐flight secondary ion mass spectroscopy (ToF‐SIMS) and principal component analysis (PCA). PCA results of the ToF‐SIMS spectra indicate that an Ar/O2 plasma produced less physical sputtering and had a higher chemical reactivity than did an Ar plasma, regardless of whether an amorphous or a crystalline surface was involved. However, the chemical differences between the Ar‐ and Ar/O2‐plasma‐treated semi‐crystalline films were much smaller. The observed results can be explained by the higher resistance of the polymer crystalline regions to physical sputtering and chemical etching. Copyright © 2013 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献
