3‐Methoxy‐5‐(4‐methyl­phenyl­diazenyl)­salicyl­aldehyde and 3‐methoxy‐5‐(2‐methyl­phenyl­diazenyl)­salicyl­aldehyde

The two title mol­ecules, both C₁₅H₁₄N₂O₃, are roughly planar and display a trans conformation with respect to the –N=N– double bond, as found for other diazene derivatives. In both compounds, there are intramolecular O—H⋯O hydrogen bonds and the crystal packing is governed by weak intermolecular C—H⋯O hydrogen bonds and π–π stacking.     

Further improvements on the designed minimum distance of algebraic geometry codes

In the literature about algebraic geometry codes one finds a lot of results improving Goppa’s minimum distance bound. These improvements often use the idea of “shrinking” or “growing” the defining divisors of the codes under certain technical conditions. The main contribution of this article is to show that most of these improvements can be obtained in a unified way from one (rather simple) theorem. Our result does not only simplify previous results but it also improves them further.     

Study of the stability of the fermionic instanton solutions by the scale index method

In the last years, there has been great interest to the formulation and application of wavelet transformation in variety of fields to investigate the characteristics of dynamical systems. Recently, a method based on the scalogram analysis of the continuous wavelet transform, the scale index has been proposed to measure aperiodicity and determine the transitions from aperiodic behaviour to periodic behaviour in nonlinear dynamical systems. In this work we test the scale index method by performing the analysis of the deterministic behaviour of the fermion-like two-dimensional Akdeniz–Smailagic instanton solution in Thirring Model. We show that the scale index method can also be considered to detect the periodic behaviours of the fermion-like instanton solutions.     

Conformal vector fields with respect to the Sasaki metric tensor

The purpose of this article is to characterize conformal vector fields with respect to the Sasaki metric tensor field on the tangent bundle of a Riemannian manifold of dimension at least three. In particular, if the manifold in question is compact, it is found that the only conformal vector fields are Killing vector fields.     

Response to "Comment on ‘Electric Multipole Moments for Some First-Row Diatomic Hydride Molecules' [Commun. Theor. Phys. 38 (2002) 256]"

The comment of Guseinov is irrelevant and also unjust. In contrast to his comment, we show that theobtained electric multipole moment values for some first-row diatomic molecules are original and better than his values(I.I. Guseinov, E. Akin, and A.M. Rzaeva, J. Mol. Struct. (Theochem) 453 (1998) 163) with respect to Hartree-Fockvalues. Moreover, it must be noted that all the formulas are cited in our paper (M. Orbay and T. Ozdogan, Commun.Theor. Phys. (Beijing, China) 35 (2001) 585) and corrigendum (M. Orbay and T. Ozdogan, Commun. Theor. Phys.(Beijing, China) 37 (2002) 768).     

Evaluation of Multicenter Nuclear Attraction Integrals by the Use of Translation Formula for Slater Type Orbitals

By the use of translation formula for Slater type orbitals (STOs), three-center nuclear attraction integralsare represented in terms of two-center overlap and nuclear attraction integrals. The computing results for the formulapresented here has been tested under wide changes in molecular parameters and good convergence has been obtainedwith the prior literature.     

From Heisenberg ansatz to attractor of Thirring Instanton

Recently we have investigated the role of the coupling constant in the evolution of the two dimensional spinor-type instantons (Thirring Instantons [1]) in phase space [2] via Heisenberg ansatz. In this paper we study the stability of bifurcation points of the Thirring Instanton’s behaviours in phase space.     

Elasticity of adsorbent beds

The practical application of adsorbents with the desired separation properties depends not only upon the adsorption characteristics of the material but also upon the mechanical properties of the packed bed. The packed bed, the vessel surrounding the bed and any internal structure that supports the bed are subjected to both static and cyclic loads during an adsorption process. In order to properly design the vessel and its internal structure, the bulk mechanical properties (most particularly the elastic properties) of the adsorbent bed must be known. The primary focus of this study was to determine the elastic properties of adsorbent beds packed with activated alumina, synthetic molecular sieve 13X or natural zeolite clinoptilolite. The bulk modulus of elasticity was found to be a linear function of applied stress for each of these materials in a range of stresses lower than the bulk crush strength. The Poisson’s ratio for the packed bed was also deduced from these results.     

Electromagnetic interactions at RHIC and LHC

At LHC energies, the Lorentz factor will be 3400 for Pb+Pb collisions, and the electromagnetic interactions will play important roles. The cross sections for the electromagnetic particle productions are very large and cannot be ignored for the lifetimes of the beams and background. In this article, we are going to study some of the electromagnetic processes at the RHIC and the LHC and show the cross section calculations of the electron-positron pair production with the giant dipole resonance of the ions.
