The spectra and structure of indium iodide: The rotational and vibrational constants of the A0 state

The rotational constants of the A0⁺ state of InI are reported for the first time as B_e = 0.038077 cm⁻¹ and α_e = 0.0002373 cm⁻¹, while T_e = 24402.91 cm⁻¹ for the A0⁺-X0⁺ transition. Accurate vibrational constants for both the A0⁺ and X0⁺ states are computed from the derived band origins.     

Effects of Higher-Order Terms on the Nonlinear Propagation of Electron Acoustic Waves

The contribution of higher-order terms on the nonlinear propagation of electron acoustic waves has been investigated, using the reductive perturbation technique. A modified KdV equation for the first order perturbed potential and a linear inhomogeneous equation for the second order perturbed potential have been derived. The soliton width and amplitude have been calculated.     

Resonance series of Br2 in the vacuum ultraviolet

A high-resolution resonance fluorescence spectrum of bromine excited by an electrical discharge in the region 1500–2100 Å was photographed on a 10.7-m concave grating vacuum spectrograph. Twelve resonance doublet series excited by four bromine atomic resonance lines were identified and analyzed. All doublet series have the ground state of ^79,81Br₂ as the lower electronic state. The vibrational numbers of these doublets corresponding to this state vary from 0 to 76. Rotational constants are obtained by least-squares fitting of the doublet separations, and the vibrational constants by least-squares analysis of vibrational term values. Probable assignments for the upper electronic state(s) of the transitions involved were suggested.     

p-Aminoacetophenone as a reagent for the colorimetric determination of cerium(IV)

With a solution ofp-aminoacetophenone, cerium(IV) gives a purple colour which can be used for its detection and determination. The limits of identification and dilution are 1.0 mug and 1 in 50000 respectively. Beer's law is obeyed in the range 14-350 mug. The colour is stable for only 5 min and measurements of absorbance must be made quickly. The interferences are fewer than with existing methods.     

A new indicator reaction for a catalytic determination of silver

Determination of thallium(III) by use of a mercury reductor

A convenient method has been developed for the determination of thallium(III) by using a mercury reductor. Thallium(III) is reduced to thallium(I) in 0.5–4N hydrochloric or sulphuric acid medium and the determination is completed by oxidative titration with potassium bromate. The method is extended to analysis of thallium(III)-thallium(I) and thallium(III)-iron(III) mixtures.
