The stereochemistry of products obtained via a chemical reaction may not always be obvious from the reaction scheme utilized. The identification of convenient methods to determine the stereochemistry in such cases is highly desirable. To identify these methods, we considered a substituted 4-vinyl-1-azabicyclo[3.2.0]hept-3-en-7-one that undergoes spontaneous oxidation in the atmosphere at room temperature, yielding an epoxide with unknown absolute configuration. To determine the absolute configuration of the resulting epoxide, three different approaches have been utilized: (a) experimental NOE measurements; (b) experimental electronic circular dichroism (ECD) spectroscopic measurements and their analysis using corresponding quantum chemical predictions at the B3LYP/aug-cc-pVDZ level; (c) experimental vibrational circular dichroism (VCD) spectroscopic measurements and their analysis using corresponding quantum chemical predictions at the B3LYP/aug-cc-pVDZ level. It was found that the NOE data could not provide enough proof for assigning the absolute configuration, while ECD data could not provide enough discrimination to distinguish between the two possible stereoisomers. On the other hand, VCD spectroscopic analysis provided enough discrimination to distinguish between the two possible stereoisomers, and the absolute configuration could be assigned with confidence.  相似文献

The influence of active fraction isolated from pods of an indigenous plant, Moringa oleifera (MoAF) was studied on the pharmacokinetic profile of the orally administered frontline anti‐tuberculosis drug rifampicin (20 mg/kg b.w.) in Swiss albino mice. The antibiotic rifampicin alone and in combination with MoAF (0.1 mg/kg b.w.) was administered orally and heparanized blood samples were collected from the orbital plexus of mice for plasma separation at 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 h, post treatment. Plasma rifampicin concentration, pharmacokinetic parameters and drug metabolizing enzyme (cytochrome P‐450) activity were determined. The pharmacokinetic data revealed that MoAF‐treated animals had significantly increased rifampicin plasma concentration, Cmax, Kel, t½(a), t½(el), Ka and AUC as well as inhibited rifampicin‐induced cytochrome P‐450 activity. In conclusion, the result of this study suggested that the bioavailability‐enhancing property of MoAF may help to lower the dosage level and shorten the treatment course of rifampicin. A simple, economical, and convenient synthesis of a new series of 4‐thiazolidinone derivatives using one‐pot three‐component condensation of aromatic amines, thioglycolic acid and aromatic aldehydes or cyclohexanone in polypropylene glycol (PPG), a recyclable and inexpensive solvent medium is reported. All the reactions are carried out at 110°C without using catalyst or additives. The products are obtained in good to excellent yields (60–97%) after easy workup and purification.  相似文献

Although turbulent jets have been studied extensively, one configuration that has not received much attention is the viscosity-stratified jet, wherein a turbulent jet of lower viscosity issues into a density-matched host liquid of higher viscosity. We present experimental data for scalar dispersion and two-dimensional velocity measurements in the axial plane of a turbulent axisymmetric jet with a Reynolds number (Re) of 2,000 issuing into a viscous host liquid at viscosity ratios (m) ranging from 1 to 55. The presence of a strong viscosity discontinuity across the jet edge results in a significant decrease in the scalar spread rate. We attribute this to the rapid reduction in turbulence intensity and the suppression of large engulfing eddies at the jet edge. The velocity profile, on the other hand, indicates that the velocity width and mass flux reduce with increasing m up to about 20, but then increase for higher values of m. This non-monotonic variation is explained by the growing influence of viscous stress for m>20. The scalar spread rate, the velocity spread rate, the centerline velocity decay rate, and the jet mass flux are all minimized for m20 for Re=2,000.

In this paper the dynamic stability of greyhound gait was analyzed within the framework of nonlinear dynamics theory. A video based motion analysis system was utilized to obtain the kinematic data of the hindlimb joints of greyhounds at trot. Phase plane portraits and first return maps for the coxofemoral, femorotibial, and the tarsal joints were calculated from averaged kinematic data for each dog. The analysis was based on the assumption that the steady state dog locomotion could be represented as a nonlinear periodic system. Using the Floquet theory, the dynamic stability of gait was quantified by computing the characteristic multipliers from experimental data. A stability index based on multipliers was used for comparison between normal and arthritic dogs. Phase plane portraits and first return maps of the dogs with transient synovitis were compared with the averaged portraits of the normal dogs. It was observed that the coxofemoral angle exhibited the maximum difference while the femorotibial and the tarsal joints showed little or no difference from those of the normals. Comparison of the Floquet multipliers indicated that the dogs with synovitis had a less stable gait than that of the normal dogs.  相似文献

The influence of reaction rate on the transfer of chemically reactive species in the laminar visco-elastic fluid flow immersed in a porous medium over a stretching sheet is considered. The flow is caused solely by the linearly stretching sheet and the reactive species is emitted from this sheet and undergoes an isothermal and homogeneous one-stage reaction as it diffuses into the surrounding fluid. A similarity transformation is introduced, which reduces the concentration conservation equation to an ordinary differential equation. An exact analytical solution due to Siddappa and Abel (Z. Angew. Math. Phys. 36 (1985) 890) is adopted for velocity, where as the concentration equation is obtained numerically for higher-order reactions. The numerical computations show that the effect of destructive chemical reaction is to reduce the thickness of concentration boundary layer and increase the mass transfer rate from the sheet to the surrounding fluid. This effect is more effective for zero- and first-order reaction than second- and third-order reactions.  相似文献

We propose a novel technique to measure the concentration of sucrose in PAm-hydrogel sucrose solution using two dimensional photonic crystal structures consists of air holes. PAm-hydrogel is an organic hydrogels, which is used as biomedical applications. The principle of measurement is based on the linear variation of photonic band gap with the change of dielectric constant of the solution infiltrated in air holes of photonic crystal structure. Plane wave expansion method is used to find the band gap and linear variation (R2 = 0.9949) of photonic band gap with respect to sucrose concentration is observed. Besides this, an excellent linear variation (R2 = 0.9949) of transmitted intensity of light with respect to sucrose concentration is also seen. Since the simulation is based on optical principle, it gives accurate results. This suggests the possible use of 2-D photonic crystal structure as a sucrose sensor. Experimental procedure for measuring the concentration of sucrose is also mentioned.  相似文献

The M.E.S.S. software suite for solving large scale matrix equations and related problems is the successor of the obsolete LyaPack MATLAB® toolbox. The software suite consists of a new MATLAB toolbox and a separate C library C-M.E.S.S. which works independent from MATLAB. Due to the fact that many scientists use Python with NumPy and SciPy for their computations, we want to provide the key algorithms of M.E.S.S. there as well. Recently, multimodal nanoparticles integrating dual- or tri-imaging modalities into a single hybrid nanosystem have attracted plenty of attention in biomedical research. Here, we report the fabrication of two types of multimodal micelle-encapsulated nanoparticles, which were systematically characterized and thoroughly evaluated in terms of their imaging potential and biocompatibility. Optical and magnetic resonance (MR) imaging probes were integrated by conjugating DOTA-gadolinium (Gd) derivative to quantum dot based nanomicelles. Two amphiphilic block copolymer micelles, amine-terminated mPEG-phospholipid and amine-modified Pluronic F127, were chosen as the capping agents because of their excellent biocompatibility and ability to prevent opsonization and prolong circulation time in vivo. Owing to their different hydrophobic-hydrophilic structure, the micellar aggregates exhibited different sizes and protection of core QDs. This work revealed the differences between these nanomicelles in terms of the stability over a wide range of pH, along with their cytotoxicity and the capacity for chelating gadolinium, thus providing a useful guideline for tailor-making multimodal nanoparticles for specific biomedical applications.  相似文献
