Inclusive dijet production at large pseudorapidity intervals (Deltaeta) between the two jets has been suggested as a regime for observing Balitsky-Fadin-Kuraev-Lipatov (BFKL) dynamics. We have measured the dijet cross section for large Deltaeta in pp collisions at sqrt[s]=1800 and 630 GeV using the D0 detector. The partonic cross section increases strongly with the size of Deltaeta. The observed growth is even stronger than expected on the basis of BFKL resummation in the leading logarithmic approximation. The growth of the partonic cross section can be accommodated with an effective BFKL intercept of alphaBFKL(20 GeV)=1.65+/-0.07. 相似文献

We report on a measurement of sigma(pp-->W+X)B(W-->taunu) in pp collisions at sqrt[s]=1.8 TeV at the Fermilab Tevatron. The measurement is based on an integrated luminosity (lum) of 18 pb-1 of data collected with the D0 detector during 1994-1995. We find that sigma(pp-->W+X)B(W-->taunu)=2.22+/-0.09 (stat)+/-0. 10 (syst)+/-0.10 (lum) nb. Lepton universality predicts that the ratio of the tau and electron electroweak charged current couplings to the W boson, gWtau/gWe, be unity. We find gWtau/gWe=0.980+/-0.031, in agreement with lepton universality. 相似文献

We apply a quasi-model-independent strategy ("Sleuth") to search for new high p(T) physics in approximately 100 pb(-1) of pp collisions at square root of (s) = 1.8 TeV collected by the D0 experiment during 1992-1996 at the Fermilab Tevatron. We systematically analyze many exclusive final states and demonstrate sensitivity to a variety of models predicting new phenomena at the electroweak scale. No evidence of new high p(T) physics is observed. 相似文献

Flow coefficients ν(n) for n=2, 3, 4, characterizing the anisotropic collective flow in Au+Au collisions at √s(NN)=200 GeV, are measured relative to event planes Ψ(n), determined at large rapidity. We report ν(n) as a function of transverse momentum and collision centrality, and study the correlations among the event planes of different order n. The ν(n) are well described by hydrodynamic models which employ a Glauber Monte Carlo initial state geometry with fluctuations, providing additional constraining power on the interplay between initial conditions and the effects of viscosity as the system evolves. This new constraint can serve to improve the precision of the extracted shear viscosity to entropy density ratio η/s. 相似文献

Back-to-back hadron pair yields in d+Au and p+p collisions at √s(NN)=200 GeV were measured with the PHENIX detector at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. Rapidity separated hadron pairs were detected with the trigger hadron at pseudorapidity |η|<0.35 and the associated hadron at forward rapidity (deuteron direction, 3.0<η<3.8). Pairs were also detected with both hadrons measured at forward rapidity; in this case, the yield of back-to-back hadron pairs in d+Au collisions with small impact parameters is observed to be suppressed by a factor of 10 relative to p+p collisions. The kinematics of these pairs is expected to probe partons in the Au nucleus with a low fraction x of the nucleon momenta, where the gluon densities rise sharply. The observed suppression as a function of nuclear thickness, p(T), and η points to cold nuclear matter effects arising at high parton densities. 相似文献

An analytical expression has been derived for the quasi-stationary size distribution of surfactant aggregates in a micellar system approaching the final equilibrium state. In contrast to previously known relations, the derived expression takes into account variations in the concentration of monomers during the slow relaxation and enables one to determine the previously unknown fine structure of the linearized mode of slow relaxation, i.e., its dependence on the aggregation numbers in the range between the maximum and minimum of the work of aggregation. This dependence has been reliably confirmed by the numerical solution of the set of linearized Becker–Döering difference equations, which describe the molecular mechanism of the kinetics of micellization and micellar relaxation. In turn, the expression found for the relaxation mode makes it possible to refine the analogous “fine structure” of aggregation rates at different points of the same range between the maximum and minimum of the work of aggregation, in which the aggregation rates appear to be low but exhibit a nonmonotonic behavior. This behavior is also confirmed by the numerical solution of the Becker–Döering difference kinetic equations. 相似文献

Emission source functions are extracted from correlation functions constructed from charged pions produced at midrapidity in Au+Au collisions at sqrt[s(NN)]=200 GeV. The source parameters extracted from these functions at low k(T) give first indications of a long tail for the pion emission source. The source extension cannot be explained solely by simple kinematic considerations. The possible role of a halo of secondary pions from resonance emissions is explored. 相似文献

Differential elliptic flow (v(2)) for phi mesons and (anti)deuterons (d)d is measured for Au+Au collisions at square root of sNN=200 GeV. The v(2) for phi mesons follows the trend of lighter pi+/- and K+/- mesons, suggesting that ordinary hadrons interacting with standard hadronic cross sections are not the primary driver for elliptic flow development. The v(2) values for (d)d suggest that elliptic flow is additive for composite particles. This further validation of the universal scaling of v(2) per constituent quark for baryons and mesons suggests that partonic collectivity dominates the transverse expansion dynamics. 相似文献
