Electronic structure of saturated hydrocarbons in the semi-empirical equivalent orbital method

The problem of obtaining the matrix elements of Hartree-Fock Hamiltonians for alkanes using the EO method is considered. It has been shown that the data on the electronic structure of diamond together witht ₁/e splitting in the neopentane photoelectron spectrum are helpful to produce such EO method parameter scale which involves even “through space” interactions. In terms of the EO method the photoelectron spectra of propane, butane, isobutane, and neopentane are interpreted. The valence band structure of polyethylene in analytical form is obtained.     

N-Arylation of azoles with low basicity by 1,4-dimethoxybenzene during undivided electrolysis

The reactions of 1,4-dimethoxybenzene with 4-nitropyrazole, 3,4-dinitro-5-methylpyrazole, 1,2,4-triazole, 3-nitro-1,2,4-triazole, and tetrazole were studied during undivided amperostatic electrolysis on a Pt electrode in MeCN, CH₂Cl₂, and MeOH. The main reaction products were 2-azolyl-1,4-dimethoxybenzenes and (or) 1,4-diazolyl-1,4-dimethoxycyclohexa-2,5-dienes. In all cases except 1,2,4-triazole, N-arylation occurs only in the presence of the Alk₄N⁺ salts of azoles or 2,4,6-trimethylpyridine as a base. The mechanism of the reactions is discussed.     

Synthesis and characterization of a novel tantalum chalcogen-rich molecular cluster with square planar metal core

Black single crystals of Ta(4)Se(9)I(8) are obtained in a high yield by heating Ta, Se, and I(2) at 300 degrees C in 1:2.2:1.0 molar ratio. In the structure, the tantalum atoms form a square, with four Se(2) ligands bridging the Ta-Ta edges and one capping the square. Each Ta atom has two terminal iodine atoms. The compound is diamagnetic and has only two electrons for metal-metal bonding.     

Hydration and dielectric properties of aqueous solutions of protonated diallylmethylammonium polymer: transition from monomer to polymer

Abstract

The high-frequency dielectric relaxation of aqueous solutions of protonated diallylammonium polyelectrolyte, namely poly(diallylmethylammonium trifluoroacetate) has been studied at the maximum water dispersion frequencies, 7.5–25?GHz, and temperatures of 288, 298, and 308?K. Dielectric relaxation parameters have been calculated and compared with similar characteristics of aqueous solutions of monomer, diallylmethylammonium trifluoroacetate, and pyrrolidinium trifluoroacetate salt simulated structure of pyrrolidinium polymer link. It has been concluded that although the monomer features hydrophobic hydration, its polymer exhibits hydrophilic hydration properties. This change is related to conformation of hydrophilic-hydrophobic polycations in aqueous solutions and the change in the structure of polymer links.     

Study of the technological limitations of photolithography for the relief surface of a SOI wafer during formation of the three-dimensional micromechanical structure of an integral tensoconverter

The results of studying the formation of the three-dimensional micromechanical structure of an integral tensoconverter are presented. The technological restrictions on contact photolithography over the relief structure formed on the device layer of the silicon-on-insulator wafer are analyzed. The effect of the design parameters (the frame height and the width of the frame slit) are described.     

The preparation and properties of “porous silicon–nickel ferrite” nanoheterocomposites for gas detectors

This paper discusses the preparation and properties of gas detectors based on “porous silicon–nickel ferrite” nanocomposites. Impedance spectroscopy was used to measure sensitivity to ethanol and isopropanol vapours in the presence of an alternating electric field. The results were interpreted with the help of an equivalent electrical circuit. In the analysis of the resistive–capacitive properties in the equivalent circuit a constant phase element was used.     

Extraction Properties of Oligodentate Carbamoylmethylphosphine Oxides and β-Aminophosphine Oxides Toward Lanthanides and Rhenium(VII)

Abstract

The extraction properties of a series of carbamoylmethylphosphine oxides and β-aminophosphine oxides with lanthanide metal ions is presented. Tris[bis(2-diphenyl- phosphorylethyl)-aminoethyl]amine is shown to be highly effective for extraction of Re(VII).
