Vapor‐grown carbon nanofibers (CNFs) were oxidized and functionalized for atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) of tert‐butyl acrylate (t‐BA) from the surface of the CNFs. The materials were characterized by solubility tests, Fourier‐transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), X‐ray diffraction (XRD), and scanning electron microscopy. The FTIR and electron microscopy results suggest that ATRP process was successfully used to graft poly(tert‐butyl acrylate) (poly(t‐BA)) chains from the surface of the fibers. Raman results strongly indicate the partial degradation of the graphitic layer of CNFs because of the chemical treatments. TGA results suggest that the presence of poly(t‐BA) leads to a decrease of the initial degradation temperature of the fibers. XRD and electron microscopy results indicate that the microstructure of fibers was not destroyed because of the oxidation and functionalization processes. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. During the course of a research program aimed at identifying novel antileishmanial compounds, a multi-gram synthesis of N-(trans-4-((4-methoxy-3-((R)-3-methylmorpholino)-1H-pyrazolo[3,4-d]pyrimidin-6-yl)amino)cyclohexyl)-2-methylpropane-1-sulfonamide ((R)-1) was required. This letter describes optimisation of the reaction conditions and protecting group strategy for a key Buchwald-Hartwig coupling, delivering the required quantities of (R)-1, as well as further compounds in the series.  相似文献

Boron has been employed in materials science as a marker for imaging specific structures by electron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS) or secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS). It has a strong potential in biological analyses as well; however, the specific coupling of a sufficient number of boron atoms to a biological structure has proven challenging. Herein, we synthesize tags containing closo‐1,2‐dicarbadodecaborane, coupled to soluble peptides, which were integrated in specific proteins by click chemistry in mammalian cells and were also coupled to nanobodies for use in immunocytochemistry experiments. The tags were fully functional in biological samples, as demonstrated by nanoSIMS imaging of cell cultures. The boron signal revealed the protein of interest, while other SIMS channels were used for imaging different positive ions, such as the cellular metal ions. This allows, for the first time, the simultaneous imaging of such ions with a protein of interest and will enable new biological applications in the SIMS field.  相似文献

Fluorescent nanomaterials such as single‐walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) have many advantages in terms of their photophysics, but it is difficult to target them to specific locations in living systems. In contrast, the green fluorescent protein (GFP) has been genetically fused to proteins in many cells and organisms. Therefore, GFP can be seen not only as a fluorophore but as a universal target/handle. Here, we report the conjugation of GFP‐binding nanobodies to DNA‐wrapped SWCNTs. This approach combines the targeting capabilities of GFP‐binding nanobodies and the nonbleaching near‐infrared fluorescence (850–1700 nm) of SWCNTs. These conjugates allow us to track single Kinesin‐5‐GFP motor proteins in developing embryos of Drosophila melanogaster. Additionally, they are sensitive to the neurotransmitter dopamine and can be used for targeted sensing of dopamine in the nm regime.  相似文献

We describe a new scheme to fully control the joint spectrum of paired photons generated in spontaneous parametric downconversion. We show the capability of this method to generate frequency-uncorrelated photon pairs that are pure and indistinguishable and whose bandwidth can be readily tuned. Importantly, the scheme we propose can be implemented in any nonlinear crystal and frequency band of interest.  相似文献

Abstract

The objective of this study was to evaluate the antimicrobial effect of Agave fructans against the Salmonella Typhimurium in “in vitro” experiments. The result of the antimicrobial activity was 263.89?±?0, 414.95?±?12.83, 494.54?±?13.88, 522.29?±?0, 580.41?±?14.92?AU for 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50% of Agave fructans (AF) respectively. In addition, there is a significant effect on the growth of the bacteria with all the percentages of AF evaluated (p?<?0.001, R2?=?0.859) with respect to the control. The growth rate of Salmonella with 25% AF was statistically significant compared to the control (?0.7353?±?0.586, 0.0079?±?0.002?D.O./h, respectively; p?>?0.01). Agave fructans could be an alternative to prevent the infections caused by Salmonella.  相似文献
