All-optical XNOR and AND logic gates using four-wave mixing (FWM) and cross-gain modulation (XGM) in a single semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) with improved dynamics are simultaneously realized. By numerical simulation, the effects of the input optical wave powers and injection current on the critical factors of the logic gate performances, such as the ON--OFF contrast ratio, the power-output level of the logic `1', and the difference between power outputs of the logic `1', are investigated in detail. In addition, the effect of the counter-propagating CW pump on the gain recovery is analysed.  相似文献

All-optical XOR and NOT logic operations based on semiconductor optical amplifier loop mirror (SLALOM) aresimultaneously demonstrated theoretically and experimentally. Based on a segmented semiconductor optical amplifier model, the all-optical logic operation process is simulated theoretically. In an experimental study, 2.5 Gb/s all-optical XOR operation was achieved in the output port of SLALOM, while all-optical NOT operation was achieved in the input port through a circulator at the same time.  相似文献

A proposal for photonic generation of a microwave signal is presented by employing a dual wavelength erbiumdoped fibre ring laser. In the laser, a microring resonator is cascaded with a tunable bandpass filter to serve as a dual-wavelength selector, an unpumped polarization maintaining erbium-doped fibre is used as a saturable absorber. By replacing the microring resonator with a delay interferometer to verify the proposal, a wavelengthtunable dual wavelength single longitudinal mode laser is demonstrated, and a microwave signal at 10.01 GHz with a linewidth of less than 25 kHz is obtained by beating the two wavelengths at a photodetector.  相似文献

Nonlinear patterning (NLP) effect in wavelength conversion based on transient cross-phase modulation (XPM) in semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) assisted with a detuning filter is theoretically investigated. A non- adiabatic model is used to estimate the ultrafast dynamics of gain, phase and electron temperature in the SOA. Simulation results show that the NLP can be greatly suppressed by introducing an assist light, especially for the probe wavelength distant from gain peak. Furthermore, the results also indicate that the improvement is more evident for long wavelength probe light and assist light in counter-propagating configuration.  相似文献

All-optical digital logic elementary circuits are the building blocks of many important computational operations in future high-speed all-optical networks and computing systems. Multifunctional and reconfigurable logic units are essential in this respect. Employing the demodulation properties of delay interferometers for input differential phase shift keying signals and the gain saturation effect in two parallel semiconductor optical amplifiers, a novel design of 40 Gbit/s reconfigurable all-optical dual-directional half-subtractor is proposed and demonstrated. All output logic results show that the scheme achieves over 11=dB extinction ratio, clear and wide open eye diagram, as well as low polarization dependence (< 1 dB), without using any additional input light beam. The scheme may provide a promising candidate for future ultrafast all-optical signal processing applications.  相似文献

研究了基于半导体光放大器(SOA)和双段级联取样光纤光栅构成的新型结构多波长激光器.设 计了取样光纤光栅,计算了其反射谱,模拟了多波长激光器的输出光谱.基于自行制作的SOA 和取样光纤光栅,进行了多波长激光器的实验研究,得到了间隔为0.8nm、输出功率不平坦 度小于1.0dB的11个波长输出.理论和实验两个方面都可以验证:与基于普通取样光栅的多波 长方案相比,基于双段级联取样光栅的方案能改善输出谱平坦度,并可提高可激射波长数. 关键词: 半导体光放大器 取样光纤光栅 多波长激光器  相似文献

具体推导了相位共轭型非相干光时延四波混频信号强度随时间延迟的一般变化规律。结果表明:对于用有限线宽非相干光激发源非相干光时延四波混频信号强度随时间延迟的变化规律具有对称性,且强度峰与激发光场带宽成正比,与纵向弛豫速率成反比。这一结果为利用发光二极管作抽运源研究半导体光放大器及有源光波导超快动力学过程提供了理论基础。进而提出了用发光二极管结构的非相干光时延四波混频测量有源介质带间和带内载流子弛豫速率的有效方案。  相似文献

提出了一种新型的基于多电极单端耦合半导体光放大器(SOA)的交叉增益调制(XGM)型波长转换方案,并建立了这种波长转换器完整的宽带理论模型.通过数值模拟的方法,比较了基于多电极单端耦合SOA的XGM型波长转换和基于单电极单端SOA的XGM型波长转换的输出特性,结果表明前者的输出消光比优于后者,而且啁啾特性也略有改善. 关键词: 多电极 波长转换 单端耦合半导体光放大器 交叉增益调制 消光比 啁啾  相似文献
