Zero energy solutions of the Dirac equation in an N-pseudoparticle field

Zero-energy solutions of the Dirac equation are found for a fermion in the field of a Euclidean Yang-Mills pseudoparticle configuration with Pontryagin number N. In this field we find N non-singular normalizable zero-energy solutions.     

Rheological relationships for concentrated polymer solutions

Using a network model for concentrated polymer solutions, an expression is calculated for the stress tensor, defined in terms of the moments of the distribution function and the kinetic equation for these moments. Application of the generalized internal reference method for the characterization of parameters causing drift in inductively-coupled plasma emission spectrometry

Drift in signals limits the performance of inductively-coupled plasma (i.c.p.) emission spectrometry. The generalized internal reference method was applied to deconvolute the drift of an i.c.p. system. The plasma parameters were correlated to the drift components and the error boundary for the method was found. In the system studied, it was found that fluctuations in the nebulizer uptake rate were responsible for short-term signal changes. Long-term signal drift was caused mainly by flow variations of both cooling gas and aerosol carrier gas. The incident power to the plasma was found to be stable compared to other sources of drift. The method was found to be adequate for evaluating the origins of i.c.p. drift.     

On the reactivity-selectivity relationship in the solvolysis of several reactive alkyl halides

In contrast to previous reports, the selectivities of four carbenium ions R⁺ towards N₃^? and H₂O (log(K_N3^?/K_H2O)) change more than the solvolytic reactivities (log K_solv) of their rather reactive precursors RCl.     

Alternating cycles in edge-partitioned graphs

It is shown that if the edges of a 2-connected graph G are partitioned into two classes so that every vertex is incident with edges from both classes, then G has an alternating cycle. The connectivity assumption can be dropped if both subgraphs resulting from the partition are regular, or have only vertices of odd degree.
