A Conductometric Sensor Specific for Cationic Surfactants

In this work, a fast, sensitive and miniaturised conductometric sensor based on interdigitated electrodes, working in differential mode, was developed for the determination of cationic surfactants. The membrane was composed of a polymer (PVC), a plasticizer (dinonylphtalate (DNP)) and a carrier (sodium tetraphenylborate (NaBΦ₄)). The sensor response was linear from at least 10^?9 M to 10^?2 M for dodecyltrimethylammonium (DTA⁺). No significant loss of sensor response was observed after 8 weeks. The sensor exhibited a lower sensitivity and a narrower dynamic range for tetrabutylammonium, decyltrimethylammonium and cetyltrimethylammonium cationic surfactants. A ten times lower sensitivity was observed for laurylsulfate anionic surfactant, (LS^?).     

Global stabilization in nonlinear discrete systems with time-delay

A class of scalar nonlinear difference equations with delay is considered. Sufficient conditions for the global asymptotic stability of a unique equilibrium are given. Applications in economics and other fields lead to consideration of associated optimal control problems. An optimal control problem of maximizing a consumption functional is stated. The existence of optimal solutions is established and their stability (the turnpike property) is proved.     

Synthesis of 5,10,15,20-tetra[6' -nitro-1,3,3-trimethylspiro- (indolino-2,2' -2H-chromen-5-yl)]porphyrin and its metal complexes

A new 5,10,15,20-tetrasubstituted porphyrin containing four 6’-nitro-1,3,3-trimethylspiro(indolino-2,2’-2H-chromene) substituents and its complexes with Zn²⁺ and Cu²⁺ ions were prepared and characterized by physicochemical methods of analysis.     

Synthesis of thiacyanine dyes containing coumarin moieties at benzothiazole rings

New bischromophoric dyes (thiacarbocyanine and thiadicarbocyanine) containing coumarin moieties at each of the two benzothiazole systems, as well as monomethinecyanine containing coumarin moiety at only one heterocyclic system, manifest significant batho-chromic shift compared to relative coumarin-free dyes.     

Mechanistic studies on the reaction between glutathionylcobalamin and selenocysteine

Abstract

The reaction between glutathionylcobalamin (GSCbl), a complex of Co(III)-cobalamin with glutathione, and selenocysteine (Sec) was investigated using ultraviolet-visible (UV–vis) spectroscopy. The interaction results in the formation of cob(II)alamin and proceeds via two pathways: (i) a rapid formation of complex between GSCbl and Sec followed by the rate-determining substitution of glutathionyl-ligand by Sec and rapid electron-transfer from Se-atom to Co(III)-ion and (ii) a nucleophilic attack of Co(III)-S bond by Sec.     

Controlled ring‐opening homo‐ and copolymerization of ɛ‐caprolactone and d,l‐lactide by iminophenolate aluminum complexes: An efficient approach toward well‐defined macromonomers

The aluminum complexes containing two iminophenolate ligands of the type (p‐XC₆H₄NCHC₆H₄O‐o)₂AlR' (R′=Me ( 3, 4 ) or R′=O(CH₂)₄OCH=CH₂ ( 5, 6 ), X=H ( 3, 5 ), F( 4, 6 )) were synthesized and characterized by ¹H, ¹³C NMR spectroscopy, and X‐ray crystallography. The reaction of AlMe₃ with two equivalents of substituted iminophenols gave five‐coordinated {ONR}₂AlMe ( 3, 4 ) complexes. Subsequent reaction of these methyl complexes with unsaturated alcohol, HO(CH₂)₄OCH=CH₂, resulted in target compounds 5 and 6 in a good yield. It was shown that the complexes ( 3 ‐ 6 ) are monomeric in solution (NMR) and in solid state (X‐ray analysis). The catalytic activity of the complexes 5 and 6 towards ring‐opening polymerization (ROP) of ?‐caprolactone and d,l ‐lactide was assessed. Complex 5 showed higher activity as compared with 6 , while both of these catalysts induced controlled homo‐ and copolymerization to afford the macromonomers with high content of vinyl ether end groups (F_n > 80%) in a broad range of molecular weights (M_n = 4000–30,000 g mol^?1) with relatively narrow MWD (M_w/M_n = 1.1–1.5). © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The powder X-band electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy of septet pyridyl-2,4,6-trinitrene

The first X-band EPR spectrum containing only non-overlapping signals of septet pyridyl-2,4,6-trinitrene and triplet pyridylnitrenes is reported. This spectrum was recorded after photolysis of 2,4,6-triazidopyridine in solid argon at 5 K. The zero-field splitting (ZFS) parameters of this trinitrene as well as of intermediate triplet mononitrenes and quintet dinitrenes formed at early stages of the photolysis were determined using the combination of modern computer line-shape spectral simulations and density functional theory (DFT) calculations. It was found that septet pyridyl-2,4,6-trinitrene has the record negative parameter D_S = −0.1031 cm⁻¹ among all known to date septet pyridyl-2,4,6-trinitrenes and may be of interest as a model multi-qubit spin system for investigations of quantum computation processing.     

Phosphorylation of pyridoxal azomethines. Synthesis of phosphorus containing azomethines and furopyridines

New O-phosphorylated pyridoxal derivatives have been synthesized through the reaction of azomethines with Р^V acid chlorides. 2-Chloro-2-thioxo-5,5-dimethyl-1,3,2-dioxaphosphinanes and diethylchlorothiophosphate have been employed as phosphorylating agents. Regardless of the nature of the phosphorylating agent, the reaction is regioselective at phenolic hydroxyl group. The structure of final products is determined by the nature of the substituent at the nitrogen atom. If R is alkyl or cycloalkyl group, the products of the reaction represent phosphorylated pyridoxal imines, whereas phosphorylated furopyridines are formed in the case R is aryl substituent.
