Copper being an essential nutrient; also pose a risk for human health in excessive amount. A simple and convenient method for the detection of trace amount of copper was employed using an optical probe R1 based on Schiff base. The probe was synthesized by Schiff base condensation of benzyl amine and 2-hydroxy-1-napthaldehyde and characterized by single X-ray diffraction, 1H NMR and FTIR. By screening its fluorescence response in a mixture of DMSO and H2O (20:80, v/v) R1 displayed a pronounced enhancement in fluorescence only upon treatment with copper. Other examined metal ions such as alkali, alkaline and transition had no influence. Within a wide pH range 5–12 R1 could selectively detect copper by interrupting ICT mechanism that results in CHEF. From Job’s plot analysis a 2:1 binding stoichiometry was revealed. The fluorescence response was linear in the range 1–10?×?10?9 M with detection limit 30?×?10?9 M. Association constant was determined as 1?×?1011 M?2 by Benesi-Hilderbrand plot. As a fast responsive probe it possesses good reproducibility and was employed for detection of copper in different water samples.  相似文献

Biopolymer-based materials from renewable sources are the core target of the researchers in modern time. Following this motivation, we have developed solid polymer electrolytes (SPEs) from empty fruit branch (EFB) of oil palm. The cellulose was extracted from EFB and modified to carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) by its reaction with monochloroacetic acid in a strongly alkaline medium. The samples were characterized by FTIR, 13C NMR, and XRD to confirm the presence of different functional groups, new connectivity, and crystalline/amorphous nature of the materials, respectively. The CMC-based SPEs were fabricated by blending it with different quantities of lithium iodide (LiI) as dopant. The existence of polymer-salt interactions was revealed by FTIR analysis. The maximum ionic conductivity of 5.58?×?10?3 S cm?1 was observed on sample containing 65 wt% LiI with the lowest activation energy of 0.249 eV.  相似文献

The method of Kumar and Ramkrishna is a numerical technique to solve population balance equations (PBEs) by discretization while preserving two moments of the distribution. When the method is used to calculate chain length distributions in polymerization reactions, the polydispersity, which depends on the first three moments of the distribution, cannot be estimated correctly. This work presents a modification of the method that allows to preserve three moments and thus calculate the polydispersity correctly, independently of the number of grid points. The modified method is applied to a model of controlled radical polymerization via RAFT and compared with the original one.  相似文献

Knowledge of the interaction forces between colloidal particles and surfaces is a precondition for understanding the stability of dispersed systems and adhesion phenomena. One of the methods available for direct measurement of surface forces is the atomic force microscope (AFM). Based on this method the so called “colloidal probe technique” was developed more than 10 years ago. Using a micron‐sized particle glued to the end of an AFM cantilever as the force sensor, this technique is predestined for the study of colloidal interactions. In this review we describe the colloidal probe technique and give an overview of its application in the field of adhesion forces.  相似文献

In this article, flow and heat transfer inside a corrugated cavity is analyzed for natural convection with a heated inner obstacle. Thermal performance is analyzed for Cu O–water inside a partially heated domain by defining the constraint along the boundaries. For nanofluid analysis, the Koo and Kleinstreuer Li(KKL) model is implemented to deal with the effective thermal conductivity and viscosity. A heated thin rod is placed inside the corrugated cavity and the bottom portion of the corrugated cavity is partially heated. The dimensionless form of nonlinear partial differential equations are obtained through the compatible transformation along with the boundary constraint. The finite element method is executed to acquire the numerical solution of the obtained dimensional system. Streamlines, isotherms and heat transfers are analyzed for the flow field and temperature distribution. The Nusselt number is calculated at the surface of the partially heated domain for various numerical values of emerging parameters by considering the inner obstacle at cold, adiabatic and heated conditions. The computational simulation was performed by introducing various numerical values of emerging parameters. Important and significant results have been attained for temperature and velocities(in both x-and y-directions) at the vertically and horizontally mean positions of the corrugated duct.  相似文献

Aqueous fluorescent dispersions containing dyed acrylic-based copolymer nanoparticles possess significant credentials concerning green technology as compared to those prepared with the conventional vinyl-based monomers in textile and garment sectors; however, their essential textile fastness properties are yet to achieve. In the present work, a series of acrylic nanodispersions were synthesized by varying the moles ratio of benzyl methacrylate (BZMA), methyl methacrylate (MMA), and 2-hydroxypropyl methacrylate (HPMA) monomers. This was done to study their effect on dye aggregation and dyed polymer particles agglomeration. FT-IR spectral analysis showed the formation of polymer structures, while Malvern Analyzer, Transmission Electron Microscopy, and Scanning Electron Microscopy analysis suggested that the particles are spherical in shape and their size is less than 200 nm. The obtained nanodispersions were later applied on cotton fabrics for the evaluation of wash fastness and colour migration. Premier color scan spectrophotometer and zeta potential measurement studies suggested that colour migration of printed cotton fabrics increased with an increasing agglomeration of particles and it was also observed to increase with the moles ratio of MMA and zeta potentials.  相似文献

The presence of inorganic and organic substances may alter the physicochemical properties of iron (Fe) salt precipitates, thereby stabilizing the antimony (Sb) oxyanions in potable water during the chemical treatment process. Therefore, the present study aimed to examine the surface characteristics, size of Fe flocs and coagulation performance of Sb oxyanions under different aqueous matrices. The results showed that surface properties of Fe flocs significantly varies with pH in both Sb(III, V) suspensions, thereby increasing the mobility of Sb(V) ions in alkaline conditions. The negligible change in surface characteristics of Fe flocs was observed in pure water and Sb(III, V) suspension at pH 7. The key role of Van der Waals forces of attraction as well as hydration force in the aggregation of early formed flocs were found, with greater agglomeration capability at higher more ferric chloride dosage. The higher Sb(V) loading decreased the size of Fe flocs and reversed the surface charge of precipitates, resulting in a significant reduction in Sb(V) removal efficiency. The competitive inhibition effect on Sb(III, V) removal was noticed in the presence of phosphate anions, owing to lowering of ζ-potential values towards more negative trajectory. The presence of hydrophobic organic matter (humic acid) significantly altered the surface characteristics of Fe flocs, thereby affecting the coagulation behavior of Sb in water as compared to the hydrophilic (salicylic acid). Overall, the findings of this research may provide a new insight into the variation in physicochemical characteristics of Fe flocs and Sb removal behavior in the presence of inorganic and organic compounds during the drinking water treatment process.  相似文献

Herein we report our studies carried out on the interaction between IMP and gelatin in aqueous medium at 25 °C using conductimetry, surface tensiometry and circular dichroism (CD) techniques. Both surface tensiometry and conductimetry results indicate that the drug interacts with the gelatin in a surfactant-like manner, i.e., both critical aggregation (cac) and polymer saturation points (psp) were observed. The interaction starts with the formation of a highly surface-active complex as revealed by the lowering of surface tension on the addition of drug to the macromolecule. The decrease in cac on increasing gelatin concentration is an indication of the strong interaction between gelatin and IMP. However, at low concentration of gelatin the interaction was not much strong as exposed by surface tension study, i.e., the cac was not very clear (as with higher gelatin concentrations). As usual, the psp increased on increasing the gelatin concentration and was always higher than the critical micelle concentration of the drug in pure aqueous medium. Using CD measurements the influence of IMP on the secondary structure of gelatin in aqueous solutions was also investigated. CD studies (performed at very low drug concentrations) illustrated that the random coil content of gelatin increases with increasing drug concentration. Free energies of aggregation (ΔGagg) and micellization (ΔGmic) were computed with the help of degrees of micelle ionization obtained from the specific conductivity – [IMP] plots.  相似文献
