The 77 K emission spectra of 21 [Ru(L) 4bpy] ( m+ ) complexes for which the Ru/bpy metal-to-ligand-charge-transfer ( (3)MLCT) excited-state energies vary from 12 500 to 18 500 cm (-1) have vibronic contributions to their bandshapes that implicate excited-state distortions in low frequency ( lf; hnu lf < 1000 cm (-1)), largely metal-ligand vibrational modes which most likely result from configurational mixing between the (3)MLCT and a higher energy metal centered ( (3)LF) excited state. The amplitudes of the lf vibronic contributions are often comparable to, or sometimes greater than those of medium frequency ( mf; hnu mf > 1000 cm (-1)), largely bipyridine (bpy) vibrational modes, and for the [Ru(bpy) 3] (2+) and [Ru(NH 3) 4bpy] (2+) complexes they are consistent with previously reported resonance-Raman (rR) parameters. However, far smaller lf vibronic amplitudes in the rR parameters have been reported for [Os(bpy) 3 ] (2+), and this leads to a group frequency approach for interpreting the 77 K emission bandshapes of [Ru(L) 4bpy] ( m+ ) complexes with the vibronic contributions from mf vibrational modes referenced to the [Os(bpy) 3] (2+) rR parameters (OB3 model) and the envelope of lf vibronic components represented by a "progression" in an "equivalent" single vibrational mode ( lf1 model). The lf1 model is referenced to rR parameters reported for [Ru(NH 3) 4bpy] (2+). The observation of lf vibronic components indicates that the MLCT excited-state potential energy surfaces of Ru-bpy complexes are distorted by LF/MLCT excited-state/excited-state configurational mixing, but the emission spectra only probe the region near the (3)MLCT potential energy minimum, and the mixing can lead to larger distortions elsewhere with potential photochemical implications: (a) such distortions may labilize the (3)MLCT excited state; and (b) the lf vibrational modes may contribute to a temperature dependent pathway for nonradiative relaxation. 相似文献

We present benchmark calculations using several long-range-corrected (LRC) density functionals, in which Hartree-Fock exchange is incorporated asymptotically using a range-separated Coulomb operator, while local exchange is attenuated using an ansatz introduced by Iikura et al. [J. Chem. Phys. 115, 3540 (2001)]. We calculate ground-state atomization energies, reaction barriers, ionization energies, and electron affinities, each as a function of the range-separation parameter mu. In addition, we calculate excitation energies of small- and medium-sized molecules, again as a function of mu, by applying the LRC to time-dependent density functional theory. Representative examples of both pure and hybrid density functionals are tested. On the basis of these results, there does not appear to be a single range-separation parameter that is reasonable for both ground-state properties and vertical excitation energies. Reasonable errors in atomization energies and barrier heights are achieved only at the expense of excessively high excitation energies, at least for the medium-sized molecules, whereas values of mu that afford reasonable excitation energies yield some of the largest errors for ground-state atomization energies and barrier heights in small molecules. Notably, this conclusion is obscured if the database of excitation energies includes only small molecules, as has been the case in previous benchmark studies of LRC functionals. 相似文献

The quantum yield for arene displacement from (η6-C6H5Y)Cr(CO)3 was measured in 1,1,2-trifluorotrichloroethane (Y = NH2, OCH3, H, CHO, or CO2CH3). Values of 0.24, 0.27, 0.15, 0.17, and 0.32 were obtained respectively (λexc. = 355 nm). These values are significantly higher than those measured for photoinduced arene loss in hydrocarbon solvents using the same excitation wavelength. Laser flash photolysis of (η6-C6H5Y)Cr(CO)3 in 1,1,2-trifluorotrichloroethane (λexc. = 355 nm) resulted in the rapid formation (<10 ns) of Cr(CO)6. Matrix isolation experiments on (η6-C6H5Y)Cr(CO)3 (Y = H or CHO) at 12 K in CH4 or CO-doped CH4 matrixes using monochromatic irradiation confirmed the presence of two discrete excited states, one leading to CO-loss and the other to arene-loss. The results correlate with the calculated electron drift in the excited state derived from density functional theory and time dependent density functional theory calculations. 相似文献

Liquid crystal polymer networks respond with an anisotropic deformation to a range of external stimuli. When doped with molecular photoswitches, these materials undergo complex shape modifications under illumination. As the deformations are reversed when irradiation stops, applications where the activated shape is required to have thermal stability have been precluded. Previous attempts to incorporate molecular switches into thermally stable photoisomers were unsuccessful at photogenerating macroscopic shapes that are retained over time. Herein, we show that to preserve photoactivated molecular deformation on the macroscopic scale, it is important not only to engineer the thermal stability of the photoswitch but also to adjust the cross‐linking density in the polymer network and to optimize the molecular orientations in the material. Our strategy resulted in materials containing fluorinated azobenzenes that retain their photochemical shape for more than eight days, which constitutes the first demonstration of long‐lived photomechanical deformation in liquid‐crystal polymer networks. 相似文献

Silica colloidal crystals require multiple processing steps before they are useful materials in analytical applications, such as chemical separations, microarrays, sensors, and total internal reflection microscopy. These chemical processing steps include calcination, sintering, surface rehydroxylation, and chemical modification, but these steps have not been fully characterized for colloidal crystals. Silica particles of nominally 200 nm in diameter were prepared, and FTIR, SEM, UV-visible spectroscopy, and refractive index measurements were used to study the changes in chemical composition, particle size, and particle density throughout the process. The final material is shown to be a durable, crack-free crystal of solid particles bearing a fully hydroxylated surface of silanols, which can then be chemically modified. 相似文献

The reactions of the SnII base Sn(NMe2)2 with CyPHM (Cy=cyclohexyl) produce a range of products, depending primarily on the alkali metal (M) involved. The 1:3 stoichiometric reaction of Sn(NMe2)2 with CyPHNa in the presence of the Lewis base donor PMDETA (PMDETA=(Me2NCH2CH2)2NMe) gives [(NaPMDETA)2{Sn(mu-PCy)}3] (3), containing the electron-deficient [{Sn(mu-PCy)}3]2- dianion. Natural bond order (NBO) and electron localisation function (ELF) calculations show that this species is described most appropriately by a two-electron, three-centre Sn3 bonding model. Evidence that 3 results from phosphide coupling is provided by the 1:1 reaction of Sn(NMe2)2 with CyPHNa in the presence of PMDETA, which gives 3 and trace amounts of (NaPMDETA)2[{Sn(mu-PCy)}2(mu-PCyPCy)] (4) (containing one PCyPCy2- dianion). Greater extents of phosphide coupling are observed as the size of the Group 1 metal is increased. Thus, the 1:3 reaction of Sn(NMe2)2 with CyPHK in THF gives the co-crystalline product {(K2 THF)2[{Sn(mu-PCyPCy)}2(mu-PCy)]}0.9{(K2 THF)2[{Sn(mu-PCy)}2(mu-PCyPCy)]}0.1 (5) (containing [{Sn(mu-PCyPCy)}2(mu-PCy)]2- and [{Sn(mu-PCy)}2(mu-PCyPCy)]2- dianions), whereas the analogous reaction of Sn(NMe2)2 with RbPHCy gives [RbPMDETA{(CyP)3SnP(H)Cy}] (6) (containing a cyclic {(CyP)3Sn} unit). 相似文献

Gas adsorption experiments have been carried out on a copper benzene tricarboxylate metal-organic framework material, HKUST-1. Hydrogen adsorption at 1 and 10 bar (both 77 K) gives an adsorption capacity of 11.16 mmol H2 per g of HKUST-1 (22.7 mg g(-)1, 2.27 wt %) at 1 bar and 18 mmol per g (36.28 mg g(-)1, 3.6 wt %) at 10 bar. Adsorption of D2 at 1 bar (77 K) is between 1.09 (at 1 bar) and 1.20(at <100 mbar) times the H2 values depending on the pressure, agreeing with the theoretical expectations. Gravimetric adsorption measurements of NO on HKUST-1 at 196 K (1 bar) gives a large adsorption capacity of approximately 9 mmol g(-1), which is significantly greater than any other adsorption capacity reported on a porous solid. At 298 K the adsorption capacity at 1 bar is just over 3 mmol g(-1). Infra red experiments show that the NO binds to the empty copper metal sites in HKUST-1. Chemiluminescence and platelet aggregometry experiments indicate that the amount of NO recovered on exposure of the resulting complex to water is enough to be biologically active, completely inhibiting platelet aggregation in platelet rich plasma. 相似文献
