The coherent scattering lengthsb and the free cross sections for the scattering of slow neutrons by P and N were measured on powdered samples. From the results we derived data for the incoherent cross sections and for the spin state scattering lengths. We found for phosphorus:b=5.13±0.01 fm, σfree=3.134±0.010b and σinc=0.006±0.016b, and for nitrogen:b=9.36±0.02 fm, σfree=10.03 ±0.08 b and σinc=0.4±0.1 b. Derived values for resonance parameters of N are given.  相似文献

Coherent neutron scattering lengths and free cross sections were measured for arsenic, for ordinary selenium and its isolated isotopes. By means of the Cristiansen filter technique the following scattering lengths for the bound atoms were obtained (in fm):b(As) =6.58(1) [b +=6.04(5) andb ?=7.47(8)],b(Se)=7.970(9),b(76Se)=12.2(1),b(77Se) =08.25(8),b(78Se)=8.24(9),b(80Se)=7.48(3) andb(82Se)=6.34(8). Transmission measurements with neutrons of 1.26 eV and 5.19 eV resulted in an energy independent free scattering cross section for arsenic ofσ s, t=5.40(3)b (in the eV-region). For ordinary selenium energy dependent free cross sections ofσ s, t(1.26 eV)=7.9(1)b andσ s, t (5.19 eV)=7.55(3)b were found. The results were compared with the resonance parameters of the nuclei and with different sets of potential scattering radii. Thus it could be concluded that there is no evidence for a bound state of the neutron-nucleus compound75As+n but a clear evidence for strong bound levels of76Se+n and77Se+n.  相似文献

 The preparation of calibration gas mixtures for air pollution measurements by the dynamic-gravimetric method was investigated using sulphur dioxide in nitrogen as a model. The target mole fraction was 200×10–9 mol/mol, with the option of also getting smaller mole fractions. Thermal mass flow meters calibrated with reference mass flows were used to measure the dilution gas flow (nitrogen). The relative standard uncertainty of the dilution gas flows between 10 mg/s (approx. 500 ml/min) and 40 mg/s (approx. 2000 ml/min) was 0.15%. The mass flow of the target component measured as the permeation rate was determined via the quasi-continuous observation of the loss in the permeation tube mass during the measuring time. A magnetic coupling system and an adapted microbalance were used for this purpose. The results presented show permeation rates measured over the lifetime of a tubular permeation source. The measurement cycles took between 3 days and 7 h at least. The relative standard uncertainty of the mixture composition did not exceed 2%. First comparisons with gas mixtures prepared by the static-gravimetric method show compatibility. The applicability of the system is not restricted to the SO2/N2 mixture. Herein, thirteen ketone derivatives composed of different cyclohexanone cores and peripheral moieties are designed, among which 10 ketones have never been synthesized before. These ketones are proposed as high-performance photoinitiators for both free radical polymerizations and cationic polymerizations under soft conditions (visible LED@405 nm irradiation at room temperature). In combination with an amine and an iodonium salt (Iod), these ketones could be used in three−component photoinitiating systems to initiate the free radical polymerization of acrylates with distinct final conversions, among which the ketone−1/amine/Iod combination proved to be the most efficient one. Besides, the ketone−1/Iod two−component system also showed a remarkable photoinitiation ability for the cationic polymerization of epoxides. The photochemical sensitivity of ketone−1 in the presence of an amine and an iodonium salt was systematically investigated by steady state photolysis and excited state fluorescence quenching characterizations, respectively. Interestingly, macroscopic 3D patterns with excellent spatial resolution could be generated using the ketone−1/amine/Iod photoinitiating system for the free radical polymerization of acrylates. This high performance is also found useful to overcome the light penetration issue for the access to filled samples (silica) and the preparation of composites.  相似文献

A large area beta scintillation detector has been developed which is currently capable of determining Sr-90/Y-90 contamination in surficial soils. The detector system employs scintillating fiber optic arrays, with active dimensions approximately 15 cm wide by 100 cm long, both ends of which are coupled to multiple photomultiplier tubes (PMTs). Electronic processing includes coincidence requirements to optimize sensitivity and selectivity for the 2.28 MeV (maximum) beta particle from Y-90. Low energy beta particles and gamma rays are discriminated against using double ended and multi-layer coincidence requirements. The detector system is personal-computer-software controlled and data restored in a format compatible with standard database software for ease of final data reduction. Experimental calibration studies have shown a linear response for Sr-90/Y-90 soil concentrations from 12 to over 500 pCi/g and a discrimination factor of 50 to 1 versus Cs-137.Pacific Northwest Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy by Battelle Memorial Institute under Contract DE-AC06-76RLO 1830.  相似文献

From the experimental data for 0.57 meV neutron energy the following data were obtained: the coherent scattering lengths (in fm) of the bound atoms169Tm (7.07+0.03);170Yb (6.8±0.1);171Yb (9.7±0.1);172Yb (9.5±0.1);173Yb (9.56±0.10);174Yb (19.2±0.1);176Yb (8.7± 0.1); Yb (12.41±0.03);175Lu (7.28±0.09);176Lu (6.3±0.2) and Lu (7.21±0.03); the thermal absorption cross sections (in barn) for169Tm (100±2); Yb (34.8±0.8) and Lu (74±2). In combination with the resonance parameters the measured coherent scattering lengths allowed the determination of potential scattering radii R′ which are of particular interest for the permanently deformed and deformable nuclei in the rare-earth region.  相似文献
