The asymmetric total synthesis of the diastereomers of stylopsal establishes the absolute configuration of the first reported sex pheromone of the twisted‐wing parasite Stylops muelleri as (3R,5R,9R)‐trimethyldodecanal. The key steps for the diastereo‐ and enantiodivergent introduction of the methyl groups are two different types of asymmetric conjugate addition reactions of organocopper reagents to α,β‐unsaturated esters, whereas the dodecanal skeleton is assembled by Wittig reactions. The structure of the natural product was confirmed by chiral gas chromatography (GC) techniques, GC/MS and GC/electroantennography (EAD) as well as field tests. An investigation into the biosynthesis of the pheromone revealed that it is likely to be produced by decarboxylation of a 4,6,10‐trimethyltridecanoic acid derivative, which was found in substantial amounts in the fat body of the female, but not in the host bee Andrena vaga. This triple‐branched fatty acid precursor thus seems to be biosynthesized de novo through a polyketide pathway with two consecutive propionate‐propionate‐acetate assemblies to form the complete skeleton. The simplified, motionless and fully host‐dependent female exploits a remarkable strategy to maximize its reproductive success by employing a relatively complex and potent sex pheromone.  相似文献

A reaction mechanism that describes the substitution of two imino protons in a thymine:thymine (T:T) mismatched DNA base pair with a HgII ion, which results in the formation of a (T)N3‐HgII‐N3(T) metal‐mediated base pair was proposed and calculated. The mechanism assumes two key steps: The formation of the first HgII? N3(T) bond is triggered by deprotonation of the imino N3 atom in thymine with a hydroxo ligand on the HgII ion. The formation of the second HgII? N3(T) bond proceeds through water‐assisted tautomerization of the remaining, metal‐nonbonded thymine base or through thymine deprotonation with a hydroxo ligand of the HgII ion already coordinated to the thymine base. The thermodynamic parameters ΔGR=?9.5 kcal mol?1, ΔHR=?4.7 kcal mol?1, and ΔSR=16.0 cal mol?1 K?1 calculated with the ONIOM (B3LYP:BP86) method for the reaction agreed well with the isothermal titration calorimetric (ITC) measurements by Torigoe et al. [H. Torigoe, A. Ono, T. Kozasa, Chem. Eur. J. 2010 , 16, 13218–13225]. The peculiar positive reaction entropy measured previously was due to both dehydration of the metal and the change in chemical bonding. The mercury reactant in the theoretical model contained one hydroxo ligand in accord with the experimental pKa value of 3.6 known for an aqua ligand of a HgII center. The chemical modification of T:T mismatched to the T‐HgII‐T metal‐mediated base pair was modeled for the middle base pair within a trinucleotide B‐DNA duplex, which ensured complete dehydration of the HgII ion during the reaction.  相似文献

The streaming potential of mica covered by bilayers of latex particles was measured using the parallel-plate channel cell. The size of the first latex (A500) bearing amidine charged groups was 503 nm and the second latex (L800) bearing sulfonate groups was 810 nm (at pH 5.5 and an ionic strength of 10(-2)M). The A500 latex exhibited an isoelectric point at pH 10.5, whereas the L800 latex was strongly negative at all pH. Mica sheets were precovered first by the A500 latex particles under diffusion transport conditions. The coverage of this supporting layer was regulated between 0.02 and 0.5 by changing the bulk concentration of latex and the deposition time. Then, the second layer of the L800 latex of regulated coverage up to 0.55 was deposited under the diffusion transport. The coverage of particles and their distributions in both layers were determined by a direct enumeration of particles by optical microscopy under wet conditions and by AFM. It was shown that the structure of the L800 particle layers and the maximum coverage were in accordance with theoretical simulations performed according to the random sequential adsorption (RSA) model. After forming bilayers of desired composition and structure, streaming potential measurements were carried out. The influence of the mica substrate, the supporting layer coverage, and its zeta potential on the apparent zeta potential of bilayers was systematically studied. It was established that for a bilayer coverage exceeding 0.20, the net zeta potential became independent of the substrate and the supporting layer zeta potentials. Then, the asymptotic values of the zeta potential of the bilayer approach 1/√2=0.71 of the bulk zeta potential of the particles forming the external (second) layer. This behavior was interpreted theoretically in terms of the electrokinetic model derived previously for monolayers. It was also concluded that results obtained in this work can be exploited for interpretation of polyelectrolyte film formation in the layer by layer (LbL) processes and protein adsorption pertinent to the antigen/antibody interactions.  相似文献

A method for the decolourization of coloured cotton fabric dyed with vat dyes, based on exposure to infrared laser light, has been tested. Pulsed CO2 laser has been used for all experiments. To detect changes in colour shade, reflection data of original and dyed cotton irradiated at various fluency of infrared laser light were measured on a UV–VIS spectrophotometer, and then colour intensity was calculated for each vat dye. To observe changes in chemical composition and morphology of fiber surfaces, an analysis was performed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy due to thermal effects. Thermal stability of vat dyes and cotton fabric was determined with differential scanning calorimetry method to simulate the heating process during exposure of samples to the infrared laser irradiation.  相似文献

Optical coherence tomography (OCT), a technique for the noninvasive imaging of turbid media, based on low-coherence interferometry, was originally developed for the imaging of biological tissues. Since the development of the technique, most of its applications have been related to the area of biomedicine. However, from early stages, the vertical resolution of the technique has already been improved to a submicron scale. This enables new possibilities and applications. This article presents the possible applications of OCT in paper industry, where submicron or at least a resolution close to one micron is required. This requirement comes from the layered structure of paper products, where layer thickness may vary from single microns to tens of micrometers. This is especially similar to the case with high-quality paper products, where several different coating layers are used to obtain a smooth surface structure and a high gloss. In this study, we demonstrate that optical coherence tomography can be used to measure and evaluate the quality of the coating layer of a premium glossy photopaper. In addition, we show that for some paper products, it is possible to measure across the entire thickness range of a paper sheet. Furthermore, we suggest that in addition to topography and tomography images of objects, it is possible to obtain information similar to gloss by tracking the magnitude of individual interference signals in optical coherence tomography.  相似文献

Raman spectroscopy has been used to study the rare‐earth mineral churchite‐(Y) of formula (Y,REE)(PO4) ·2H2O, where rare‐earth element (REE) is a rare‐earth element. The mineral contains yttrium and, depending on the locality, a range of rare‐earth metals. The Raman spectra of two churchite‐(Y) mineral samples from Jáchymov and Medvědín in the Czech Republic were compared with the Raman spectra of churchite‐(Y) downloaded from the RRUFF data base. The Raman spectra of churchite‐(Y) are characterized by an intense sharp band at 975 cm−1 assigned to the ν1 (PO43−) symmetric stretching mode. A lower intensity band observed at around 1065 cm−1 is attributed to the ν3 (PO43−) antisymmetric stretching mode. The (PO43−) bending modes are observed at 497 cm−12) and 563 cm−14). Some small differences in the band positions between the four churchite‐(Y) samples from four different localities were found. These differences may be ascribed to the different compositions of the churchite‐(Y) minerals. Copyright © 2009 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

The participation of hydrogen‐arsenate group (AsO3OH)2− in solid‐state compounds may serve as a model example for explaining and clarifying the behaviour of As and other elements during weathering processes in natural environment. The mineral geminite, a hydrated hydrogen‐arsenate mineral of ideal formula Cu(AsO3OH)·H2O, has been studied by Raman and infrared spectroscopies. Two samples of geminite of different origin were investigated and the spectra proved quite similar. In the Raman spectra of geminite, six bands are observed at 741, 812, 836, 851, 859 and 885 cm−1 (Salsigne, France), and 743, 813, 843, 853, 871 and 885 cm−1 (Jáchymov, Czech Republic). The band at 851/853 cm−1 is assigned to the ν1 (AsO3OH)2− symmetric stretching mode; the other bands are assigned to the ν3 (AsO3OH)2− split triply degenerate antisymmetric stretching mode. Raman bands at 309, 333, 345 and 364/310, 333 and 345 cm−1 are attributed to the ν2 (AsO3OH)2− bending mode, and a set of higher wavenumber bands (in the range 400–500 cm−1) is assigned to the ν4 (AsO3OH)2− split triply degenerate bending mode. A very complex set of overlapping bands is observed in both the Raman and infrared spectra. Raman bands are observed at 2289, 2433, 2737, 2855, 3235, 3377, 3449 and 3521/2288, 2438, 2814, 3152, 3314, 3448 and 3521 cm−1. Two Raman bands at 2289 and 2433/2288 and 2438 cm−1 are ascribed to the strong hydrogen bonded water molecules. The Raman bands at 3235, 3305 and 3377/3152 and 3314 cm−1 may be assigned to the ν OH stretching vibrations of water molecules. Two bands at 3449 and 3521/3448 and 3521 cm−1 are assigned to the OH stretching vibrations of the (AsO3OH)2− units. The lengths of the O H···O hydrogen bonds vary in the range 2.60–2.94 Å (Raman) and 2.61–3.07 Å (infrared). Two Raman and infrared bands in the region of the bending vibrations of the water molecules prove that structurally non‐equivalent water molecules are present in the crystal structure of geminite. Complex networks consisting of several interacting layers allow for remote synchronization of distant layers via an intermediate relay layer. We extend the notion of relay synchronization to chimera states, and study the scenarios of relay synchronization in a three-layer network of FitzHugh–Nagumo (FHN) oscillators, where each layer has a nonlocal coupling topology. Varying the coupling strength and time delay in the inter-layer connections, we observe relay synchronization between chimera states, i.e., complex spatio-temporal patterns of coexisting coherent and incoherent domains, in the outer network layers. Special regimes where only the coherent domains of chimeras are synchronized, and the incoherent domains remain desynchronized, as well as transitions between different synchronization regimes are analyzed.  相似文献

Plants from the Ilex genus are known for properties such as antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory activity, can act as antiobesity agents and thus can be helpful in medicine. Some holly species, such as Ilex paraguariensis (widely known in the form of popular beverage: yerba mate), have been investigated, while others have been partially researched or remain unknown. Therefore, we performed qualitative and quantitative phytochemical analyses and screened antimicrobial properties of lesser-studied species (I. aquifolium L., I. aquifolium ‘Argentea Marginata’ and I. × meserveae ‘Blue Angel’). I. paraguariensis was used as a standard species for comparison purposes. Investigations were performed on water extracts due to their expected activity and composition. Antimicrobial research included evaluating minimal inhibitory, bactericidal (Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli) and fungicidal concentration (Candida albicans, Alternaria alternata, Fusarium oxysporum, and Aspergillus niger) of extracts. The influence of the extracts on the production, eradication, and viability of bacterial biofilms was also analysed. It was established that Ilex paraguariensis possesses the richest profile of hydroxycinnamic acids derivatives in terms of component concentration and diversity. Ilex spp., especially I. × meserveae, contain a slightly higher amount of flavonoids and more different flavonoid derivatives than I. paraguariensis. However, the strongest antibacterial activity was shown by I. aquifolium L. and its cultivar ‘Argentea Marginata’ in terms of minimal inhibitory, bactericidal and fungicidal concentration, and biofilm assays. Extracts from both species significantly reduced the biofilm viability of S. aureus as well, which may be of use in the production of multicomponent lavaseptics, antiseptics, diuretics (supporting urinary tract infection therapy) and, due to their action on fungi, additives to growth media for specific fungi. The significant content of saponins enables Ilex extracts to be used as natural emulsifiers, for example, in cosmetics. Moreover, relatively high chlorogenic acid and rutin content may suggest use of Ilex spp. to treat obesity, digestive problems, in chemoprevention, and as preservatives in the food industry.  相似文献

Multistability, i.e., the coexistence of several attractors for a given set of system parameters, is one of the most important phenomena occurring in dynamical systems. We consider it in the velocity dynamics of a Brownian particle, driven by thermal fluctuations and moving in a biased periodic potential. In doing so, we focus on the impact of ergodicity—A concept which lies at the core of statistical mechanics. The latter implies that a single trajectory of the system is representative for the whole ensemble and, as a consequence, the initial conditions of the dynamics are fully forgotten. The ergodicity of the deterministic counterpart is strongly broken, and we discuss how the velocity multistability depends on the starting position and velocity of the particle. While for non-zero temperatures the ergodicity is, in principle, restored, in the low temperature regime the velocity dynamics is still affected by initial conditions due to weak ergodicity breaking. For moderate and high temperatures, the multistability is robust with respect to the choice of the starting position and velocity of the particle.  相似文献
