Size effect of fullerene cages and encaged clusters in M_3N@C_(2n)

Based on the calculated findings that the sizes of encaged clusters determine the structures and the stability of C80-based trimetallic nitride fullerenes (TNFs), more extensive density functional theory calculations were performed on M3N@C68, M3N@C78 and M3N@C80 (M=Sc, Y and La). The calculated results demonstrated that the structures and stability undergo a transition with the increasing of the sizes of the cages and clusters. Synthesis and Characterization of A Novel Cholesteric Liquid Crystalline Containing Carboxyl Group

A novel liquid crystal compound with a carboxyl group at one end, cholest-5-en-3-ol-(3β) hydrogen decanedioate (1) was successfuly prepared by the reaction of cholesterol with sebacoxl chloride. Its chemical structure and liquid crystalline properties were characterized by FTIR.CNMR,HNMR,POM and DSC. The compound with an active carboxyl group shows themortropic liquid crystalline behaviour.

New conversion of Friendlnder reaction of 3-amino-1H-benzo[f]chromene-2-carbonitriles with cyclohexanone

Two different skeletons of heterocyclic compounds,quinoline and quinazolinone analogs could be obtained by a novel one-pot synthesis from substituted 3-amino-1 H-benzo[f]chromene-2-carbonitrile derivatives and cyclohexanone in DMF in the catalyst of anhydrous zinc chloride under reflux.A plausible mechanism was proposed.

Two new eudesmane derivatives from Verbesina virginica

<正>Two new eudesmane derivatives were isolated from the leaves and flowers of Verbesina virginica,along with the known 6-O-β-E -p-coumaroyl-4α-hydroxyeudesmane(1).Their structures were determined as 6-O-β-Z-p-coumaroyl-4α-hydroxyeudesmane(2) and 6-O-α-E-p-coumaroyl-1β-4α-dihydroxyeudesmane(3) by spectroscopic methods.
